Chapter 9

I glanced down at my phone, realizing just how late it had gotten. All I could think of was what we would do next. Back home, I hadn’t remotely gotten this close or far with anyone else. I went through the many notifications on my phone. I had a few text messages from my family and from Chyna.

I checked each message with a shake of my head. Based on the many texts, I guess they had finally figured out that I hadn’t been kidding when I told them I was going out of town alone. They were all trying to figure out my location and if Chyna had gone with me.

I was trying not to take offense because this wasn’t my usual way of doing things, so it made sense that they were concerned. My only problem was that they were just now catching on, and I had been gone for a few days now. I would be back home in two more.

I released a sigh as I clicked Chyna’s name and opened her text.

Chyna: Skye, I didn’t mean to offend you. I had to step back and check myself. I just want you to be safe, but then when have you ever not been? I’m sure you got it under control. I just wanted to remind you that if you need me, I’m still here. Even though I’ve been fucking up lately. Let’s do lunch when you get back. I think we need to talk.

My finger hovered over the bar for me to place my message. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to respond or not, but I knew I couldn’t stay mad long at her. If I was in her position, I might not have gone about it the same way she had, but I would have told her I would keep my eye on her location, or for her to notify me whenever she got back into her hotel room.

I released a breath and started my message to reply.

Me: We definitely need to talk, but I get it. I’m doing something that isn’t usual for y’all. When I get home, we can set something up. Have fun on your trip. I plan to.

I hit send, then locked my phone, then slipped it into my pocket. Just as I did that, Brodrick came into view. He looked a little more uncomfortable than the last time I had seen him. He appeared as if his eyes couldn’t relax or stay focused on what was in front of him. The tightness in his shoulders couldn’t be missed either.

But how much did I know about him to assume he wasn’t actually like his usual self? I clasped my hands on my lap and smiled up at him, hoping it would help to settle him. I waved my hand to get his attention, and his eyes latched onto mine.

He gave me a tight smile, then headed in my direction. He held the bags of things I picked up while we were in town. The man didn’t let me pay for anything, which was new to me. Men assumed because I had money back home that I didn’t want to be treated like I was a princess, which was wrong. I’d never met a woman who didn’t want to be treated like they didn’t have to stick a hand in their purse or pocket.

It was sad I had to go to an island to get that kind of treatment, but I was going to cherish it. Finally, he placed the bags at my feet and took the open seat beside me. His eyes were still wandering around the boat like he was looking for someone else. It could be because it was late as hell. Shoot, I should be looking too. Who knew what was in these waters? This boat didn’t seem that damn secure.

“Did they give you a hard time down at the docks?” I asked.

He finally looked down at me, and his shoulders relaxed a little. He placed an arm behind the back of my seat.

“Nah, but the line did build up by the time I went to the bathroom and grabbed the bags. Let me find out you were out here missing me,” he returned.

I placed my hands over my face to hide my smile and warm cheeks from his view. He reached out and took one of my hands into his, then leaned down to place a kiss against my knuckles. He settled back against the seat as the boat pulled away from the dock slowly. We settled into a comfortable silence. So much so, I leaned my head against his shoulder and sleep overtook me.

A tap on my shoulder awoke me. I peeled open my eyes and looked around to see everyone around us was already standing and leaving the boat.

I glanced up at Brodrick. “I didn’t mean to hold you up, and I hope I didn’t get any drool on your shoulder.”

He gave me a smile and bent down to collect my bags then stood to his feet.

“Nah, you looked so calm asleep. I wanted to give you as much time as possible. I don’t have anywhere else I would prefer to be.”

I couldn’t hide my smile that time. This man was full of flattery and honey. He held his hand out to help me stand up. I took it, and he turned so I could walk ahead of him.

I peered over my shoulder, and he was looking around us at the trees. He had been doing that since we got on this damn boat, but I guess that was normal since we were in a foreign place. I shrugged it off and continued off the boat to the bus that would bring us back to the resort.

We were amongst the last few people on the bus, so we had to sit at the front. I took my seat, and he followed suit but turned slightly, so his back wasn’t fully facing the seat. Maybe he was a military vet. I heard most didn’t like to be in places that they can’t see everything around them, but what did I know? Only person I knew from the military was my brother-in-law and Jim, but they never mentioned anything different.

I tapped his shoulder, and he glanced down at me with a steel expression. One I hadn’t noticed him ever having this entire trip.

“Is everything okay?” I asked.

From my question, his shoulders relaxed as he released a breath, then closed his eyes for a moment.

“I’m good. I’m not the most comfortable with where we sitting right now, but I will be good.”

I nodded, not wanting to ask too many more questions. The ride back to the resort was filled with silence. I was sure everyone else was exhausted by today’s events, but for me, my mind ran a thousand miles a minute. I wanted to take this to the next level. On this trip, this was the boldest I had ever been, and I wanted to do just this one more thing, even if I never saw this man again.

The bus came to a stop, so Brodrick grabbed my bags, but he never the left seat. I watched as his eyes scanned everyone who left the bus. Once the final person left the bus, he finally stood, then stepped back to let me go ahead of him. The moment I stepped off the last step, a cool breeze blew through my hair. I smiled and then looked back at him to see him staring with a lift of his brow.

“You don’t feel this breeze?” I asked.

“I do.”

I gripped my hips. “Then you should have also felt the peace that blew in. This is the most free I’ve ever felt in my life. What about you?”

He walked over to stand directly in front of me. My heart sped up as he licked his lower lip, then glanced down at me. His eyes never left mine before he spoke. “Since meeting you, yes.”

He only said four words, but those few words were enough. I smiled and made the trek to my room, with him following close behind me. Once we finally made it to my door, I turned to face him.

“So, will I see you tomorrow?” I asked.

Brodrick looked around then back down at me.

“Today is my last day here. I have to finish packing, since my flight is early tomorrow.”

My heart dropped, but those words also gave me the courage to do the one thing I had been wanting to do. I nodded and inched closer to him. He didn’t step back as I continued to move until there was no more space between us. I lifted myself up onto my toes and pressed my lips against his.

I stepped away from the comfort of his chest. The heat in his eyes mirrored my own as I fumbled with my key card. Once I finally got a good hold on it, I turned toward the door and quickly unlocked it. I pulled the door open wide and turned back to face him. He still held onto my bags with a tight grip.

I ran my tongue against my lower lip as I looked up at him.

“You coming in?” I asked.

Brodrick glanced over his shoulder, then back at me. It seemed as if so much time had passed within this moment. I could practically hear my heart beating loudly in my ears. He took those few steps toward me, and I waited with bated breath. He stopped beside me and leaned down to place a kiss against my lips.

My eyes fluttered shut for a moment. When I opened them, he was inside my hut, so I pushed the door behind me. Not wanting to waste another moment, I moved toward him. My bags hit the floor as he lifted me, and I wrapped my legs around his waist.

His kiss was demanding yet tender as his tongue sought entry that I eagerly granted. The heavy slam of the door echoed through the room, sending a shiver down my spine as the last gust of cool air swept past us. His large, calloused hands gripped my thighs while his lips traced a path from my mouth along the curve of my chin to my neck.

My head dropped back onto my shoulders, giving him all the space he needed to set me off. My heart beat erratically in my chest, and the need to be free from the confines of my clothes tugged at my restraint.

I needed to feel his skin against mine, his body brushing up against me, and his dick stretching me to limits I never thought possible. I reached for the hem of his shirt and lifted it when his hand gripped my wrist.

I lifted my heavy lids up to him.

“Are you sure? Before you answer, I need you to understand before that three letter word slips from your tongue. Let it be known that I devour things I can’t get enough of, and let me tell you this, I can tell you’re going to be someone I can’t get enough of.” He paused briefly as he leaned in and placed a delicate kiss against my neck before pulling back with a smirk adorning his lips. “If you agree, I need your essence coating my tongue, my beard, and my dick. Now, I am going to ask you again, can you handle that?”

His voice was thick with desire as he waited for me to answer. I smiled back and reached between us to undo his shorts, wrapping my hand around dick as much as I could.

“Give me what I deserve,” I responded.

His eyes darkened immediately, letting me know I had removed the invisible leech that had been keeping him in check. His thick hands gripped my ass roughly as he continued to walk toward the bed. He laid me against the soft sheets before stepping back.

“Finish,” he commanded, looking down at his unhooked shorts. I didn’t need to be told twice. I slid toward the edge of the bed and reached out to continue, but he stopped me. “Uh uh. On your knees, baby.”

The way my pussy thumped at his every command, it was no wonder my essence wasn’t flowing down my thighs like a waterfall. I immediately dropped to my knees, then continued to remove his pants before his thick, long dick nearly popped my ass in the eye because of how hard he was.

My mouth watered. I had never seen a dick this beautiful. It was a warm chocolate color with the veins protruding along the sides with a mushroom tip perfectly proportioned to the rest of him. The temptation was too much. I reached out and stroked him, then leaned forward to kiss the tip.

Before I could do more, he pulled me to my feet. He removed his shirt. I hadn’t even noticed him take it off. He gripped my chin, then tipped my head back before kissing me so deeply it took my breath away.

He only pulled back to kiss every inch of my body from my chin down to my neck, then between my breasts, only stopping briefly to lavish my nipples with a bit of attention. His groans were contagious, pulling a moan from me as his teeth scrapped against my sensitive nipples. My back dipped in, trying to get more of myself between his lips.

“More.” I moaned.

His lips and tongue worked magic over my nipples before slipping down my body. He hooked his arms beneath my thighs, lifting me from the ground onto his shoulders so my center aligned perfectly with his mouth. One hand was solidly in the center of my back, while the other gripped my ass.

I looked down to meet his eyes before he pulled me close and devoured me in every essence of the word. It was as if this man had said fuck breathing, and I was the only thing he needed to survive.

“Enough,” I cried out as the third orgasm ripped through me, taking with it every bit of energy I had.

Brodrick pulled back, his beard and mouth soaked in my essence. He dragged his tongue across his lower lip. “Nah, I haven’t had my fill, and until I do, that ass is mine.”

My heart practically stopped at his declaration. This man was trying to kill my ass, but what a beautiful way to go. Sad to say, I didn’t mind finding out.
