Chapter 28
God, how many nights have I laid in bed fucking my fist fantasizing about having Tate and Rhyann in bed with me? I never once thought things would end like this. I never thought my heart could be so full and my cock could be so spent.
I also never pictured our sweet princess as the snoring type. Apparently my brother didn’t either. We took the edges of the big ass bed tonight, Tate and Rhyann sleeping soundly in each other’s arms, Liam holding tightly to our girl from behind as I do the same with Tate. All three of us holding tightly to the most precious thing in our lives.
“I’m getting her a big box of those nose strip things for her birthday,” Liam says in the dark.
“Don’t be a dick, man.” I say.
He just laughs. “I’m half teasing. It’s actually kinda cute.” Yeah, I laugh to myself. It is. God, I love her. I’d give up everything, even Tate for her. I know without a doubt he’d do the same. That’s what kills me, but that’s what makes us love her so goddamned much. Rhyann would never ask us to give eachother up, she’d never want us to hurt like that. Just like none of us would ever ask her to choose between either of us. Even Liam knows that it would kill her to have to choose.
“So, Li.” I clear my throat.
“Yeah, bro?”
“About tonight?” I hesitate to ask how he feels, how he felt about me and Tate.
“Look Dev,” Liam says. “If you’re about to ask me about you and Tate, don’t bother.”
I sit up feeling a pang of agony stab my chest. “Liam if you’re—”
“I’m happy for you Dev.”
Well, that’s not what I thought he was getting at. “You are?”
Liam sits up and looks across the two sleeping bodies, blue eyes that mirror mine meeting me in the dark. “Why wouldn’t I be? You really think I haven’t known, our entire lives, how you feel about Tate?”
“Has it always been that obvious?” I ask.
Liam laughs. “We’re identical twins.” I can hear the eye roll in his tone. “Look, I’m not into men. You’ll never be able to convince me to have a threesome with the two of you. Not just because he’s like a brother to me, but because my cock only wants pussy. One redheaded little pussy to be exact. What happened tonight, it was fucking amazing. I pray we have more nights like that.”
I blink back the tears in my eyes and let out a deep sigh. “I’ve never been into any other men.”
“I know. It’s only Tate for you. Just like it’s only Rhyann for the three of us, and it’s us for her. That’s what makes what happened tonight so great.”
I laugh because he hit the nail on the head. “It’s like this was how it was always supposed to be for the four of us. What do you think Gemma would say?” Those tears come back with a force. Liam and I haven’t talked about our sister in years. Not since she was ripped from our lives.
“I think she would tell us that we were idiots for waiting so long. She loved Rhyann like a little sister. She’d be happy for us, bro.” Liam says and I can hear the pain in his voice. When Gemma was murdered, we lost a third of our souls. We were the Morris triplets. Inseparable since day one. Sure, she was a fraternal triplet, but there wasn’t a day we spent apart. Until she was just gone.
Liam didn’t just lose his sister that day, he lost me too. Or at least the me he had known since the womb. I took off, determined to find the piece of shit who took her from us. I would have died to make sure he suffered the same way she did. But I never found the fucker. It was as though he vanished from the face of the earth.
Instead, I took my anger out on the only other girl I ever loved, the same girl protectively wrapped in my brother’s arms in the middle of the bed. “Gem would have beat me senseless for what I did to Rhyann after she left.” I admit.
“I don’t know what happened between you and Rhyann, but she forgives you Dev. It’s time for you to forgive yourself. That’s what our sister would say.” Liam sighs. “I love you Devon. You’re literally half of me. Rhyann and Tate love you, Gemma loved you too. Stop doubting your worth, man, stop fighting whatever war you got going on in your thick skull alone.”
“Love you too, Liam.” I say and turn around. Tears fall quietly down my cheeks as his words sink in. To emphasize the last words my brother said in the dark, Tate turns and wraps me tightly in the warmth of his body before I fall into the deepest sleep I’ve had since I was a teen.
