Chapter 29

“Have you heard from your dad yet?” Liam asks as he steps out of the shower and wraps a towel around his waist. He leaves the water running for me. The two of us seem to be the only morning people in our little pod. Both of us were up before Rhyann and Devon and left the two of them to sleep in as we got ready for the day.

“Nope,” I say. I turn, finish brushing my teeth and turn off the faucet. “But I think we should be ready to check out as soon as he calls.” I woke up to a call from the front desk, someone left a bouquet of roses there for Rhyann first thing this morning. There was no name on the card other than hers. No one is supposed to know where we are, so the flowers have me and Liam a little worried.

“Didn’t she get roses to the house a couple times?” Liam asks.

“Yeah, but whoever sent them shouldn’t know she’s here.” I nudge past my best friend and slip into the shower.

I’m just about finished when Rhyann steps into the shower behind me. “Good morning,” she says as she wraps her arms around me and resting her head against my back.

“Good morning indeed.” I turn around and move her under the stream of water. “How are you feeling this morning?”

Rhyann drops her arms as the water hits her. “I’m sore, but great.” Her radiant smile sends blood rushing to my cock. I haven’t seen her smile like that since we were kids, since before my mom dropped that sibling bomb in my lap and I started my mission to make her hate me.

I pick up the small bottle of shampoo from the ledge of the tub and pour a small amount into one hand. I reach out with the other and pull Rhyann out from under the spray of water. She turns around and tilts her head back ready for me. As I wash her hair, her body relaxes.

“I’m mad at you,” she says.

“For?” I ask even though I know what she’s angry over. I’ve played a tug of war with her emotions for years. I pushed away the only other people in her life who cared about her as much as I do, all because of my own selfishness.

“For leaving me in bed and not waking me up.” She turns to rinse her hair and looks at me. She’s pouting, but there’s a sparkle in her eye. I laugh and kiss her pouty little mouth.

“I didn’t leave you alone,” I tell her. She grabs the bottle of body wash and I take it from her hands. “You had Dev with you.”

“I did,” she says with a satisfied smirk. “And he woke me up in the best kind of way.”

I finish soaping her body up and watch as she slowly rinses off. “Oh?” I quirk a brow. “And how exactly did he wake you up?”

“You weren’t there, so I guess you’ll never know.” Rhyann shuts the water off and steps out of the shower, she takes the white robe that’s hanging from a hook near the tub and wraps herself in it, laughing as she leaves the bathroom, leaving me with a painful erection.

By the time I relieve myself of the hard on Rhyann left me with, she’s already downstairs with the twins. I can hear their chatter from the bedroom as I get dressed. This is what it feels like to have a family, I smile to myself. Sure, I had my dad growing up, and until my mom took off, I had her too. But if it weren’t for the triplets and Rhyann, my childhood would have been very lonely.

As I’m slipping into a pair of shoes my dad packed when he went to the apartment yesterday, my phone dings on the nightstand by the bed. I grab it and head out of the room.

Dad: Bring Rhyann home. Place is secure.

I let out a sigh of relief and send a quick reply.

Tate: Fantastic! The guys and I will head out with her in a few.

Dad: I need the twins to check on your club. There was a situation. Have them meet me there, you take Rhyann home.

My dad’s reply was almost instant, drawing the attention of the three people sitting on the couch watching t.v. “It’s time to go,”

Dev stands up, the remote in his hand. “Your pops call you?”

“No,” I say. “He did text though. Wants you and Liam to meet him at the club. Said there was a situation. He said for me and Rhyann to head to her place.”

“Is it safe?” Rhyann asks. She looks to Devon who looks at me with a scrutinizing gaze.

“We did talk to our guys yesterday. Told them to make your house a priority, princess.” Liam says. “Our bags are already loaded in the Jeep. You two take the Jeep, Dev and I can call an Uber to get us to the club.”

Devon still has a concerned look on his face when I reach the sunken-in living room. “You okay?” I ask him. I run my fingers along the scruff of hair on his jaw.

“I’m fine. I just don’t like the idea of all of us splitting up.” he says. His eyes grow dark as he covers my hand with his. “The last time we split up—”

“It won’t be like that this time,” I tell him. “But, I think I should go meet my dad, and you two should head to Rhyann”s. Make sure everything is good there.” I kiss him softly on the lips like we are the only people in the room. A petite hand slips into my free one. Rhyann stands beside us, her eyes bright and her smile stretching across her face.

“I still don’t like the idea of you going alone.

“I’ll go with him,” Liam offers.

“See,” I tell him, pressing my forehead to his. “Nothing to worry about.” I release my hold on both of them and join Liam over by the door. “Let’s do this so we can all relax and watch a movie when you guys get home.”

“Not another Purge movie,” Liam says. Dev opens his mouth as if to speak but Liam cuts him off and adds, “And not The Revenant either.”

“You’re an ass,” Devon grumbles and the rest of us laugh. Rhyann kisses Devon and whispers in his ear, his smile tells me she must have a movie suggestion he approves of and the two of them join us at the door.

“Be careful, and hurry back to us,” she says before kissing me. Rhyann turns to Liam and holds him for a minute or two. “I love you.”

“Love you too, princess,” Liam tells her as he plants a kiss on her lips.

Rhyann turns back to Devon. “Don’t,” he says before lifting her into his arms and kissing her passionately. “You can tell me how much you love me when I’m fucking you over the pool table tonight.”

Rhyann giggles as Devon sets her back on her feet. “Don’t make promises you don’t intend to keep, Devon Morris.”

I smile at the man I love. The image of Rhyann bent over the dark red felt top of her pool table while Devon fucks her from behind has my dick hardening all over again.

“Trust me, I plan on keeping this promise.” Devon”s voice is husky. Rhyann takes a step back, her sparkling smile stretching across her face. She loves the idea as much as I do. I pull Devon into my arms and hug him tightly.

“Keep her safe,” I tell him as we pull apart.

“I’ll die before I let anything happen to her,” He promises.

“Don’t fucking do that either.” Liam punches me in the shoulder. “Come on, bro. The sooner we go, the sooner we get back to our family.” Devon hands me the keys to his Jeep and I leave my whole world in that hotel room.
