25. Breaking Down the Walls

“ Y ou could’ve killed me twice back then.”

Yunho’s spine stiffens, his eyes wide with sheer disbelief as the words uttered by Wooju echo violently in his head.

Yunho thinks to himself , I should punch him in the face right here, right now. I should slam the door in his face and never see him again. But he remains motionless because now it all makes sense. The random flashbacks he had before—they must have been his memories from the other timelines.

Surprisingly, Yunho doesn’t stride past the boy like he did before or spew something hurtful. Maybe his mind has gone crazy because whatever he feels right now... it’s not hatred anymore. It’s more of... relief . For the boy standing right in front of him is the boy he’s been longing for.

And he believes in him.

The walls Yunho has been building to protect himself crumble before his eyes. He can’t hate Wooju—he never did. He was just hurt. And now, in a moment of profound weakness, Yunho shakes his head and says, “You know I didn’t mean any of it. How could I do that to you?”

It doesn’t take long before Yunho finds himself gravitating toward Wooju. With a step or two forward, he draws Wooju into his muscular arms, buries his nose against the boy’s neck, and whispers the words, “I’m sorry.”

It doesn’t matter if he’s even a thousand timelines too late. For him, what matters is that they’re together now.
