Chapter Fifteen
Marco
"Thank you so much for this opportunity," Marco shook the hand of the person he'd interviewed.
Their name was Talia and they were very experienced.
Just as experienced as Kai is. Marco's instincts were screaming at him to hire them.
However, he'd review his notes from his two previous interviews and decide to hire Talia or the other two.
"Thank you for agreeing to interview with me. I'll get in touch with you probably early next week. Have a great day and drive safely." Marco saw them out then spoke with Mary, compiling a list of supplies she needed. He then spoke with Eduardo about the kitchen.
"I need a different dish washer." Eduardo said without preamble.
"What happened to Danny?" Marco looked around in surprise. Right now the bus boy was putting the dishes through the industrial dish washer but that should've been Danny.
"I found him smoking a joint yesterday and fired him.
" Eduardo was stirring sauce in the saucepan and glared at Marco.
Marco didn't take it to heart. Eduardo was a great cook but a giant grump.
He never smiled and barely had a kind word for anyone.
Marco tended to go through a lot of kitchen staff cause they didn't want to work with Eduardo.
"Fuck, why didn't you text me yesterday?"
"You have a new Little, you're busy. I didn't want to pop your bubble yet." Marco paused and just stared open mouthed at Eduardo.
"I-what?"
"You. Have. A. New. Little. I. Didn't. Want.
To. Bother. You." Eduardo enunciated each word and Marco looked around.
At the moment there wasn't anyone nearby and the kitchen was a loud place so he doubted anyone heard Eduardo.
The cook looked at Marco's shocked face and actually smiled which was even more shocking.
"Your face is fucking hilarious."
"Well, I hadn't realized you knew about my lifestyle. I've been careful."
"I've known this whole time." Eduardo took the sauce off the stove and turned to the plating station. One of the sous chefs was putting the finishing touches on another dish.
"Leave." She rolled her eyes at Eduardo then flounced away. Camila was the only kitchen staff that had stayed more than two months and Marco thought it was because she gave as good as she got.
"I didn't realize I was so see through." Marco leaned against the counter and folded his arms.
"You're not to most people but I saw you with your last boyfriend and with this one and to me, who is also in the lifestyle, its rather obvious. I like this one. Kai is a good one." Marco nodded and smiled at Eduardo.
"Yeah, he really is. I love him."
"Good. Have you told him?"
"I've told him that he's my heart and he's mine and he's not going anywhere. I don't think he believes me."
"You should actually say the words. You can say pretty words all you want but there isn't anything more serious, more concrete than the words 'I love you.
' He'll believe you then. Mark my words.
" Marco nodded and clapped Eduardo on the shoulder earning a string of curse words when he almost messed up his plating.
"I think I'll do that tonight. You should come to The Play Spot."
"What's that?" Eduardo was back to frowning.
"It's a kink club. It has a Little Room and lots of Littles and Middles are members as well as a lot of Mommies and Daddies and just general Tops. There's a community that Derek has built. You should be a part of it. Stop being a grumpy fucker all the time."
"Eduardo can't ever stop being a grumpy fucker. He'd up and die," Camila commented as she walked past carrying a large bag of flour. Marco was impressed that such a short woman could carry that heavy bag.
"Camila, what the fuck, I've told you a thousand times I'd carry that bag for you.
" Eduardo put the plate in the serving window, shoved a piece of paper at Marco then hurried after the sous chef.
Marco shook his head as he opened the paper and realized it was a list of supplies needed for the kitchen.
He went to his office and imputed the supply order.
He reviewed the budget, made some adjustments and worked until his phone went off a couple hours later with a text.
Derek: Hey, don't be worried but I had to put Kai in time out twice already.
Marco: What, why? What happened?
Derek: He was being a bit disrespectful towards Landon and then convinced everyone after their planning was done to pull a prank on Landon. It was mostly harmless and Landon says he didn't mind but I'd specifically told Kai if he'd misbehave again I'd text you.
Marco: I'll be there in 20 minutes.
Marco pulled up Kai’s number and typed out a message. He knew that Kai was likely in time out but he’d see it once he was out.
Marco: I’ll be there to pick you up in 20 minutes. Derek told me what happened. We’ll have a chat about it once we get home.
Kai
Kai’s phone dinged and he opened it up then felt his heart fall to his stomach when he read his Daddy’s text.
Fuck.
He knew pulling that prank on Landon was a bad idea. He just didn’t think it through. Now, it appeared that he was going to have “the chat” with Marco today. Kai swallowed hard and tears filled his eyes. He wasn’t ready for this to end. Marco had been pretty perfect this week and Kai had ruined it.
“What’s wrong?” Amy asked. He was sitting at a table with all the girls and they were quietly coloring.
Derek had told them they all needed to do quiet activities until their Daddies had collected them.
Gemma had gone home after her timeout. Quinn had shown up not long after to take Marshie back home.
Landon was Penny’s ride so she was waiting for him to finish talking to Derek.
“Marco wants to…to have a talk when we get home.” Kai said around the lump in his throat. Penny looked up in surprise and Amelia also looked up with a curious look.
“He texted me…”
“Can we see?” Amelia asked. Kai showed his phone and the four girls leaned over it. Penny looked slightly alarmed but Amy, Amelia, and Ruby had an amused and sympathetic expression.
“That’s nothing to be worried about,” Ruby announced. Kai frowned. He was going to get his heart broken but Ruby, Amy, and Amelia were acting as if it was just another day.
“Well, his butt-butt might be worried,” Amelia giggled.
“What?” Kai blinked.
“‘Having a chat’ is Daddy code for its time to wallop on your butt until you cry. What did you think it meant?”
“Everytime a boyfriend has told me he wants ‘to chat’ I get broken up with.” Penny frowned and looked between the other girls.
“I think they're right, Kai.” Penny said. “Rember the books we read? All the Daddies say the same thing and then there’s a punishment scene after. I don’t think Marco wants to break up with you.” Amy, Amelia, and Ruby all gaped at Kai then piled on a group hug.
“He wouldn't ever break up with you!” Amy said.
“He’s way too in love with you,” Ruby replied.
“You’re bottom is just gonna be burnin’” Amelia commented, patting him on the back.
“But, what if he doesn’t want to punish me? Or he gets tired of it? Or…”
“Maybe you should wait until you get home to try to figure out what’s going on?” Penny suggested. “I don’t think he’s anything like all your past boyfriends. Kai nodded then went back to coloring.
“Or ask.” Ruby suggested.
Is Kai going to get punished? Would Marco stay with him after?
Kai wasn’t so sure that their pairing was going to last. He’d yet to find someone to spend the rest of his life with.
Despite wanting forever Kai was pretty sure he wasn’t going to get that.
When Marco came through the door Kai was feeling dejected and sad.
There was no way Marco was staying with him.
There just wasn’t. He didn’t say much as Marco came over and talked with the girls for a minute then led him toward the door.
At the front of the club Penny hugged Kai and whispered, “Text me if you need me.”
