Emmaline agreed, “I do doubt that, but not because Eric doesn’t have fun.
I just can’t see him contacting Hexxi.” Because they didn’t know Eric like I did.
Hexxi giggled, “The she wolf is right. Consort Eric did tell me to get them. He even said it should be Christmas themed. Haley giggled and threw out ideas.”
Emmaline’s jaw dropped. Sharon gasped, “Oh my god, I need alcohol for this conversation.” Jackie hummed, “Eric is giving Fairies permission to go all out on his mother. Plus, the people I call my ex-in laws since they gave up custody of Travis.” I snickered and Jackie busted up laughing then gathered herself.
Sharon conjured herself alcohol shrugging, “This is required.” My sister in law shouted, “You? You need alcohol for this? I’ve known Alpha Eric my entire life.
I’ve heard dad tell stories about him. The man is now actively going with a theme that Dylan’s set up to have his own mother and Dylan’s parents pranked.
I mean, Davis sure. It’s not a secret Eric has always hated him. ”
I agreed, “It’s really not. Dad always had to tell Davis not to annoy Eric and I heard Eric say to Davis’s face that he could shut the fuck up or he’d only deal with Dylan since he was training on Beta duties.”
Emmaline shouted, “WHAT?!” Sharon pointed at Emmaline, “What she said in the literal same shrieking you’ve kept tea from us tone.” Jackie snorted, “I didn’t know that part, but it’s very well-known fact that Eric dislikes Davis.”
Idel disagreed, “Not to us. Tell us more. Literally everything. Spare no detail, please.” I laughed, “It would take a while.” Hexxi said, “We have time and you have to tell us. I didn’t know Consort Eric didn’t like Davis. I need details to know just how mean I can get.”
Jackie said, “It’s no holds barred on Davis for you, Hexxi.
Alpha Eric would probably pay you to get him in every way you can think of.
I know of at least five times Eric punched Davis.
” I admitted, “I know three were for Dylan.” Emmaline screamed, “OH MY GOD! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GIVE DETAILS YOU TWO!”
Idel conjured champagne and poured it. We all looked at her.
Hexxi said, “That is the wrong color for the theme, sister.” Idel muttered in Fealish and the champagne turned red.
Hexxi nodded saying, “There. Now it’s Christmas themed and you can tell us the gossip.
” Kiara snorted, “She thought we were staring because the champagne was the wrong color.” I got that.
I said, “It’s not gossip, it’s common knowledge.
” Sharon disagreed, “Um no it’s not. I grew up in a pack and had no idea.
” Jackie pointed out, “Ok, I’ll rephrase what my sister in law said.
It’s common knowledge around this area. You didn’t grow up with us.
” Jackie paused, then said, “Well, not Faerie. I mean where we live.”
Emmaline practically pleaded, “Will one of you just tell us? I can’t believe that in all these years NO ONE has mentioned Eric and Davis have beef!
” Jackie snorted, “I mean it’s not beef.
Alpha Eric just loathes Davis. For his part, Davis doesn’t understand Alpha Eric’s problem with him.
Even though the man has outright told him. ”
Idel groaned, “You guys are terrible story tellers. Hold on.” Jackie and I glanced at each other while she called someone. Beta James answered, “Idel, are you ok?” Idel snorted, “Of course I am. YOU SIR, are in TROUBLE!”
Beta James groaned, “What? Why? I didn’t do anything. I’m corralling the pups, just like you wanted.” Idel shot back, “Did you know that Eric and Davis Frost hate each other?” Beta James reasoned, “Well, Davis doesn’t hate Eric.” Idel shouted, “YOU KNEW?!”
Beta James said, “Everyone in this area knows. Dylan used to send memos about Eric’s undying love for him because he punched Davis for Dylan. More than once too.” I snorted, “Davis did not care for those memos.” Dad thought they were funny though, and he was right.
Beta James sighed, “Davis hated everything Dylan did. Even my dad and Theo’s don’t like Davis. The only people who liked the man had the last name Lyons.” I gasped, “Hey! I never liked him.” Beta James said, “Because you have been in love with Dylan all your life, and Davis was horrible to Dylan.”
Kiara purred, “Yes, we have.” Well, she came to me at sixteen, but I got her point.
I had always been in love with Dylan. Idel threatened her mate, “If you want to enjoy the surprise planned later that leads to crazy sex, which I want to be clear about the fact that I will hold out if you don’t fix this, tell me how to get these two women to tell me the stories about Consort Eric and Davis Frost.”
Beta James replied, “I assume you’re asking about Jackie and Lacy since they would know the stories.” I grumbled, “We were telling the stories.” Idel groaned, “James-y please make them tell the stories right because they were barely giving any details.”
Beta James chuckled, “I have good news for you. You’re talking to a Gamma and Alpha blood, love.
It’s my specialty to get details out of them.
” Idel cooed, “Do your magical Beta thing then.” Beta James chuckled, “Lacy, tell all the stories you saw as a pup in order, as you remember them. Jackie, provide details you’ve heard by chiming in during the story. I’ll hang up once you start.”
I replied, “I was telling…” Beta James interrupted, “What’s the first time you remember realizing Eric and Davis didn’t like each other?” I thought about it and then answered, “I was five years old when I noticed. I had been playing with my Carolers.”
Beta James chuckled, “I lied. I’m not hanging up because I don’t know this story.” Emmaline asked, “So Eric was the Alpha then, right?” I nodded confirming, “He was. Eric stopped by to see me before the meeting. He used to do that so he could play with me.”
Idel, Sharon, and Jackie shouted, “HE WHAT?!” Emmaline asked, “Why is that weird? Eric always plays with pups. He’s so great with them.” Sharon said, “Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor and digest that information.” Emmaline frowned at them, looking confused.
I snorted, “Emmaline, they are shocked because Eric has a reputation as a cutthroat man who is hard as ice.” Emmaline snorted, “Sure, ok.” Kiara chuckled, “The Soul Searcher sees Thor closer to who he is.” Yes, she did.
Beta James offered, “Eric’s always seen Lacy as a little sister since he doesn’t have one.
” I snorted, “Even if he had one, he’d see me that way.
” Jackie waved her hand saying, “Ok, Alpha Eric came to play with you and that feels like a bomb of information, but there’s more there.
Alpha Eric was recently named Alpha at that time and playing with pups.
Hell, he was even arriving early to do so. Wow. Continue blowing our minds.”
I said, “I was telling Eric about the carolers Dylan had just bought me when Davis walked by. I still don’t know why he was there since Eric wasn’t late for their meeting or anything. There was still ten minutes before he even needed to be in our territory.”
Idel screamed, “How much earlier did he get there to play with you?!” I frowned, “He’d always come a half hour early, but sometimes he’d manage an hour.
” Hexxi held her champagne glass out for Idel to refill her glass.
Hexxi said, “It’s like a whole new lens on life.
My goddess.” Kiara snorted, “They are dramatic.” Yeah, but for how people saw Eric I could understand why they felt that way.
I continued, “Davis scoffed about how carolers were dumb, and I should like normal pup toys instead. Then he went on about how Dylan got me being serious as pup when he couldn’t be serious himself for five second.”
Beta James sighed, “The man is an ass.” I agreed, “He is. Anyway, I started to cry because I’d always loved carolers. I have since I was two and saw my parents ice skating on the pond outside together in the moonlight.”
Emmaline admitted, “That doesn’t make sense to me.
How do those thing correlate?” I chuckled, “I probably said it out of order, but I saw my parents doing ice skating one night when I was supposed to be in bed.
They looked like a story book couple in my mind.
The next day, mom took us to Kris's Christmas store, and he had two carolers in that exact scene.”
I smiled admitting, “I just always wanted the type of love my parents had. One that was out of a scene and the carolers all set up such amazing little scenes. Those were the first carolers I got, and they remind me of my parents love. Eric and Dylan were the only ones that ever asked why I loved them. I think Eric understood because he wanted a love like that too. Dylan loved it because I did.”
Jackie cooed, “Aww, that’s so adorable.” Beta James chimed in, “This is gold.” I rolled my eyes knowing he’d tease people with this information, but neither man would care.
Dylan would just boast about how he always caters to the things I love.
Kiara purred, “Mate does do that.” Eric would stare at James until he became uncomfortable and stopped bringing it up.
I continued, “Well, I started to cry and said Dylan could be serious and that Davis was being mean. I yelled that I loved my carolers, and they were normal toys. Eric told me they were perfectly normal and clearly my toys improved my creativity.”
Idel asked, “How?” I laughed, “Because all my carolers have extensive backstories and lives. Those carolers are why I love writing. I gave them such intense stories I started writing them down. All my towns have their own things going on.” Jackie declared, “I need those stories immediately.”
Beta James disagreed, “No, you need them later. Right now, we need to know what happened following Eric leaving playtime with Lacy. Because he did.” I agreed, “He played with me a little longer then had to get to his meeting. I heard him yelling all the way across the house.”
