Chapter 11 Declare a New Holiday
Declare a New Holiday
November
Dylan was running through last minute details. Haley said, “I think this has been a very productive meeting.” I agreed, “It’s so nice to be in your home without the cloud of doom that was always here when Mommy Queenie Meanie was alive.”
Haley muttered, “That fucking bitch. I still can’t believe some of the shit she pulled, and I honestly don’t know what’s more surprising. That it surprises me at this point, or that she did it at all.” I chuckled, “Yes, being around like minds is such fun. I do have some questions though.”
Haley asked, “What questions would those be?” I inquired, “Where did your letter opener that used to sit on your desk go? I personally would’ve chucked it into a fire, but Mommy Queenie Meanie always made a point to make sure you had it on your desk citing rules you both knew. I can’t help but notice it’s gone now.”
Haley replied, “I’m not obliged to keep anyfuckingthing from a former Black Mountain Luna that has passed away.” I agreed, “No, but I saw it a few days afterwards.” Haley evaded, “Let’s just say it’s certainly found its way right to where it fucking belonged.”
Fang admitted, “That was an intriguing answer.” I knew that.
I squealed, “Tell me more, tell me more, did you have it burned? No, chucked into oblivion?” Several people were smirking, because they caught onto the tune I was singing.
I was the designated cheer bringer, even in a conversation about Mommy Queenie Meanie.
Haley said, “I didn’t burned or chuck it anyfuckingwhere.
” I pouted, “That’s not as fun.” Haley muttered, “It was certainly something no one could’ve planned.
” I needed so many more answers on that topic.
Because that statement made whatever happened sound far more interesting than I’d been thinking.
Haley announced, “Ok, I have to go make sure the meal is ready. Dylan, why don’t you do a final check on the decorations? I know that was really fucking important to you.” I smiled, saying, “I so appreciate you let me handle that.”
Haley shrugged and I knew it was because the decorations didn’t matter to her. She’d never celebrated Thanksgiving until she mated with SGAP, and it wasn’t a global holiday. Miley snorted, “It looks like Christmas threw up in there.”
I whispered, “There’s still a turkey to carve and cherry pies to eat.
” Haley admitted, “The decorations aren’t what matters from what I’ve found.
It’s about spending time as a fucking family.
” I cooed, “I heard certain people on Mommy Queenie Meanie’s side are coming this year. That’s so interesting.”
Miley answered, “They are. Apparently, they’ve never felt welcome in years past.” I gasped, “Color me shocked.” I whispered, “Please note my sarcasm.” Haley asked, “What the fuck are you talking about, Miley? I know they didn’t get the invitation to Eric and my wedding, but I sent the damn invitations for the holidays. Some I conjured directly to them.”
I whispered, “Mommy Queenie Meanie told them not to come, but you didn’t hear it from me.” Haley ground out, “Why the fuck would she do that? Why would Jan listen even if she did? We fucking talked!” They had? That was fascinating.
I hummed and tapped my chin, “I see after Dylan and Lacy day SGAP didn’t tell you all the things I put in their faces and under their noses. As far as Jan, it was probably about distancing her family from the crazy lady who got her pup killed.”
Nikki was still her daughter, even though she was awful, and Cassandra’s influence corrupted the evil woman for sure. Haley questioned, “What did you tell Eric and his brother about that I don’t know? They had a big fucking conversation about everything you told them.”
I squealed, “People listen when I spill my truths. It’s fun! They didn’t suspect Mommy Queenie Meanie like I did. No, I still do. Just because she’s dead and gone, doesn’t mean I don’t think it was her. I do. I know she did it, deep in my jellies. I just can’t prove it.”
Haley asked, “What the hell are your fucking jellies?” Lexi waved, “No, that doesn’t matter. We need to know what Dylan thinks Cassandra did that the Conners men don’t agree on.” I grinned, “I do so like you.” TeleTed laughed, “Come on wolf bestie, tell me everything.”
I squealed, “You all heard him say that! I am his wolf bestie! ME! MUHAHAHAHAHA! I got the Fairies, and now the Hood into being my bestie! I will get that to catch on and be everyone’s bestie. I just know there are so many more for me to meet and be on the cusp of greatness.”
TeleTed agreed, “You’ll definitely be everyone’s bestie since you’re the fun one.” I told him, “Flattery will get you everywhere, but you know that. You’re hip with getting things from man to man. Get it?” Lexi snorted, “We all get it.”
Haley asked, “Is that a gay joke?” I replied, “With love. Not so much a joke, just stating TeleTed’s well versed in getting what he wants from a man, and he is one, so he thinks like we do.” Haley considered it then agreed, “Fair enough.”
I cleared my throat, “Mommy Queenie’s Meanie’s family was here a lot more until her dad commented on how the vile woman treated young Darrin. He told her to tell Nathan how she was treating him or he would.”
I whispered, “That did not happen.” Lexi asked, “What did?” I answered, “Her father was cut off from this house. Nathan claims he never heard from the man from the day he left and four months following. Then poor Mommy Queenie Meanie’s father just croaked. The man was healthy as an ox.”
Haley’s eyes narrowed, “You’re saying he fucking died after calling Cassandra out.” It wasn’t a question, and I loved that. Fang said, “She’s so smart.” I clapped, “See? You get it. I can’t prove it, but I know it was Mommy Queenie Meanie.”
TeleTed said, “Her own father? That’s cold.” I put my hand over my heart saying, “Is that really surprising? She was ice itself. I swear to you she had her own father offed, but she didn’t travel during that time.”
I lamented, “I didn’t possess the skills to check her phone logs, but other people I knew did.
The man did call, but it wasn’t getting through.
See, at the time I was like well she’s not using magic.
Now, I feel like she was. I never got the proof, but I did hear her send Darrin to his room there for shedding a tear over his grandpa’s death. ”
Haley shouted, “That bitch did fucking what?!” TeleTed gasped, “What a horrible woman! Not that I’m surprised by that. I’ve always thought she was awful, but being upset with a child for crying over a death is a new low, even for her.”
Lexi agreed, “Yeah, I can believe all that. I’m definitely onboard with the theory that Cassandra killed her own father too.
” I grinned, “I really do like you.” Lexi shrugged, “I’d tell you if you were off base, but Cassandra never liked it when people held a mirror up to her.
It’s easier to kill people who trust you. ”
Lexi’s eyes briefly went to Haley adding, “It’s hard to kill someone who mistrusts you.” Fang shouted, “SHE THINKS THE GOBLIN/FAIRY/ROGUE ATTACK WAS MOMMY QUEENIE MEANIE TOO!” I agreed, “Definitely.”
Haley scoffed, “Or it’s someone obsessed with Cassandra herself.
They could have been killing people who ‘wronged’ her.
” I hummed, “I don’t like that as much. I’m going with it was her.
Somehow.” Haley snorted, “Let me just fucking guess, after he died Cassandra’s side of the family was distanced from the Conners family. ”
I agreed, “They were. Nikknasty spent the most time with Cassandra. They bonded and she became the worst, but she’s long since dead.
She wasn’t so bad as a pup, but then Mommy Queenie Meanie swooped in and the tide turned.
The rest of the family was kept away, barely spending any time here. One might ask why.”
TeleTed reasoned, “True, but you are Dylan Frost. You have thoughts about it.” I replied, “My intel said Cassndra’s dad was worried she was spiraling Darrin into a depression. There was just no proof without the man himself.” Haley gasped, “What?!”
I replied, “Think about the lack of confidence Darrin had for an Alpha until you got him the Hackura Games, where he proved his fighting skills. Think about his mate and Harold’s.
Hell, even Molly to a degree. Beta’s notice these things, but people raised around that woman, besides yours truly, barely recognized her cutting comments for what they were. ”
“Folks around here were left to puzzle her comments and wonder if they were cutting or a compliment. Because she disguised them in veiled ways. I, myself was kept pretty far away from young Darrin.”
“The times I saw him brought questions that at the time I could not prove. I wasn’t allowed around Harold that much either. You know who would’ve noticed an Alpha in depression? Good old Gramps, with Gamma blood, who was wise to his daughter’s ways.”
“I know you want to ask how Nathan, his Beta, and his Gamma wouldn’t notice; don’t worry, I’ll tell you. They were all brought up in a pack with blatant trauma and a bad culture. They created the culture that is here today before it was all doom and gloom.”
“Dale says that Tag convinced everyone that Nathan’s mate would probably reject him over Tag. It wasn’t even an out there thought from what I’ve read about the evil man. Now, you’ve got Beta and Gamma bloods relieved that their Luna is standing by their Alpha and accepting him.”
“You have three people who were raised in a totalitarian pack now free of that abuse and unable to recognize the slight verbal abuse that was brought in. They were used to in your face abuse, physically and verbally.”
“They wanted to believe in Mommy Queenie Meanie because she stood by their Alpha. After being told a mate would run from your Alpha, you’re just happy your Alpha isn’t depressed because he lost his mate over his horrible dad that said Alpha loathed.”
