Chapter Fifteen #2
“I’m done. I can give you guys the room,” Dr. Granger says. “Milly, keep that clean and dry. I’m sure your father will keep an eye on it, so he knows the drill. You are free to go whenever.”
“Thank you,” I say. She takes the IV out of my arm and cleans up before placing the brace on my wrist. It protects the stitches as well, so that will be helpful.
“Explain,” I say when the door shuts.
“You… had a sister. A twin sister, actually. Her name was Molly,” Dad says. “I didn’t realize it was her you were seeing.”
“Hold on,” Grayson says. “So, Molly is real? Why is she not in any records?”
“Probably Charlotte’s doing,” Dad says. “She has a lot of pull to get whatever she wants done.”
“What happened to her?” I ask.
“When Walter shot me, Molly was on my other side. The bullet went through me and struck her in the head. She died instantly,” Dad says bluntly, but softly. “I didn’t mention her because you hadn’t. I didn’t want to throw more things at you when seeing me was already a lot.”
“Damn… So she was real… Why don’t I remember her?”
“Just the brain’s way of protecting you,” Grayson says.
“Does this make me less crazy?”
“You aren’t crazy,” Grayson says with a frown. “But it makes sense. If you blocked her death out, that was just a way of keeping her alive for you. You might remember one day, but it will take time to sort through everything.”
“It feels like everything is untangling and I can breathe now,” I say.
“That’s healing, Baby Girl,” Grayson says.
“So… what now?” I ask, refraining from speaking of my murderous intent.
“Well, we are going to get pizza, go home and see my family, rest for a few days, and then fucking kill Greg and your piece of shit mother.”
“Charlotte is going to be harder to kill,” Dad says. “But I can’t wait to see it happen.”
“Well… Let’s go home then,” I say.
I am lying on the couch with my head in Grayson’s lap and my legs across Adam. My eyes are closed, and I am in heaven as Grayson mindlessly strokes my hair. Adam has his hand on my thigh with his thumb gently stroking my skin, and I love it.
When we got home, Grayson and Adam took me upstairs and helped me shower and change before we came down to sit in the living room. When the doorbell rings, I groan and sit up so Grayson can answer the door.
“Hey, guys,” Grayson says happily.
“Hey, sweetie,” a woman says as she hugs Grayson.
“Son, you’re looking good,” a man says proudly, hugging Grayson next. They both hug Adam the same before the woman smiles at me.
“Ma, this is Milly,” Grayson says, sitting next to me. They take a seat across from us and look happy. “I… finally entered the marriage pact and was paired with her.”
“Oh, that’s wonderful,” his mom says.
“Milly, this is my mother, Susan, and my father, Henry,” Grayson says. “Guys, this is Milly’s biological father, Thomas.”
“I know Thomas,” Henry says with a smile. “How ya been, Tom?”
“Good. Glad I finally got my girl back,” Dad says.
“Milly was my patient,” Grayson admits. “I saw her three times a week.”
“Oh, well, at least you had lots of bonding time leading up. That trust probably helped,” Susan says.
“He’s being nice. I’m actually crazy,” I say with a smile.
“I doubt that,” Henry chuckles. “So are you three a happy little trio?”
“Yeah,” Grayson says simply.
“Do they know about…” I start to ask, but stop.
“Yeah, they know,” Grayson says.
“Oh, about you and Adam?” Susan asks. “I always knew his match would be open to them.”
“I think it’s great!” I say happily.
“Yeah, that’s because you’re a pervert,” Adam remarks. I grin at him, and he laughs. “Anyway, pizza should be here in a second.”
“Who hurt her?” Henry asks Dad.
“Greg Chesterton,” Dad grumbles. “He is her stepfather.”
“Oh God,” Henry says, rolling his eyes. “What happened?”
Dad looks at me, and I nod. “He has been raping her since they first got together. Charlotte would make videos and sell them. She entered the marriage pact without them knowing, and she ended up with Grayson. They must be tracking her because as soon as she left the house alone today, he ran her off the road. From what I’m gathering, he started raping her, but she fought back.
Usually, she shuts down. That pissed him off, and he started hitting her.
I showed up and scared him off, but she has a broken wrist and some bruised ribs. ”
“Sadly, none of this surprises me,” Henry says.
“You should explain all of this to Alania and Adrian. They need to know he is out there doing all of this,” Susan says.
“Man, Adrian, Raul, Brently, and Derek will have a fucking field day with this one,” Henry says.
“Alania is bloodthirsty,” Adam laughs. “Don’t tell her I said that. She scares me.”
“I’m going to tell her now,” Grayson laughs. “I’ve been thinking about what to do. I know he is going to die, I just want to keep Milly safe.”
“I think the safest thing to do is to get The Society involved,” Henry says.
“I can see it in your eyes, sweetheart. I know you want revenge for her,” Susan says. “But sometimes the best thing to do is to delegate that out.”
“Yeah,” Grayson sighs.
“Milly, what do you want?” Dad asks me.
“I just want to be happy,” I say. “I want to heal and help others heal. If my story helps others speak up, I’d be happy.”
“Alania has a thing for publicly humiliating people who hurt others,” Grayson says. “How do you feel about speaking to The Society?”
“Uh,” I laugh. “Will it help others?”
“This is likely a group that is operating in secret within The Society. Seeing you open up might encourage others to do the same,” he tells me.
“Then I want to,” I say. “They made me believe I was crazy and ignored the existence of my sister. I wasn’t just making things up; I missed my sister and wanted to keep her alive. Mom hurt me more than anyone, but played innocent.”
“Okay. Tomorrow, we can go up to the school and talk to them. I think they’re in class tomorrow, so you’ll get a chance to see what the submissive school does,” he tells me.
“Can we go to The Void?” I ask.
“I don’t know. With your wrist, it would mean you can’t be restrained,” he says.
“Impact?” Henry asks.
“Mhmm. She has a pretty intense history of self-harm. She has stitches in her hand from cutting it open while cooking, plus the break,” Grayson says.
“I’d think right now it would be most helpful considering she’s most at risk of spiraling right now compared to after she heals,” Susan says.
“If she’s asking, I’m thinking it’s for a reason,” Dad says, and then looks at me.
“I wouldn’t say I’m thinking about cutting, but… I feel like I need to be in pain. I’m used to being in pain, but I’m not. It’s weird.”
“It’s not weird,” Adam says. “When you get used to things, you expect it.”
“Okay. Let’s get through talking to Alania. Maybe I could get Adrian to help. He’s well-versed in Alania’s trauma and will be far less biased.”
“If you trust him,” I say.
“I trust all of them,” he says. “Alania has been a patient of mine since they took over, and I’ve gotten to know her partners also. They are good people and genuinely care about The Society.”
“Can I still work with you at the school?”
“Absolutely,” he says. “I have a few appointments in the morning, and then we can go talk to them.”
“What happens with the times I used to come in?” I ask.
“We will still use that time the same, but Adam will be with us. We can use that time to work on both healing and bonding. We can also help teach you skills that promote independence,” Grayson says.
“I think we need to find a way to resolve the issue with Hope,” Adam says. “It’s the only thing you two have argued about.”
“What do you suggest?” Grayson asks.
“I think you need to sit down with Hope and Milly,” Adam says.
“That’s a horrible idea, Adam,” Grayson says.
“Why?” I ask.
“She has this mindset where she thinks she is the only one who can give me what I want. I don’t know how exactly she got that idea, but she is convinced that I will go back to her,” he says bluntly.
“She is beautiful,” I say.
“She’s also shallow and never shuts the fuck up,” Grayson says bluntly. “Beauty is more than just what’s on the surface.”
“I want to hear what she has to say,” I tell him. “I want to see how you are with her.”
“Okay,” he says. “When?”
“Not tonight,” Adam says to me. “You are on pain medication and need to rest.”
“Tell her to meet you at The Void tomorrow night,” I say.
“Alright. I will text her tomorrow,” he says before softly kissing me.
