Chapter 5 #2

It wasn’t until I heard my phone ringing in the distance that I realized just how long I had been sitting at my desk.

Alexa read two a.m. on the dot while I rushed from the office to the living room where my phone was.

When I had it in my hand and saw Rennix calling, I rolled my eyes to the ceiling, deciding I wasn’t going to answer.

He called back a second and third time before I finally answered.

“What, Rennix? It’s late.”

“Open the garage. I’m in the driveway.”

I lifted one of the blinds to see if he was there and he sure was.

I had half a mind to hang up because I called myself mad at him.

But from the tone of his voice I could tell he was inebriated, so I marched to the kitchen and pressed the button for the garage to open.

Once I was sure he backed all the way in, I pressed the button to close the door and went up to my bedroom.

Without waiting on him or anything, I cut the lights out and crawled into my bed.

I heard him moving around downstairs for a minute before the sound of his steps ascending toward my bedroom.

Usually he used the guest shower, but tonight his drunk ass decided to use mine.

I didn’t know if I was pissed or worried about the fact that he was coming right in to take a shower.

Instead of getting up and having a fit like I wanted, I turned over and closed my eyes.

If I didn’t, I’d be standing at the shower door ’bout ready to fight this man. Shit, how did I get here?

His shower lasted for all of fifteen minutes. I knew because when I couldn’t seem to get into the rhythm of sleep, I just lay there, watching time on the android screen from Amazon on my nightstand.

He stalked into my bedroom, moving around for a minute before I felt the dip in the bed.

I closed my eyes when I felt him pull my body into his.

Even though I was fuming, why did being in his arms finally have my body ready to rest?

I was too at peace in his arms even though I had hell in my mind.

I was too used to this man that was not mine .

My thoughts were halted when I felt his lips to my temple, then everything went quiet and the sleep I so badly needed came flowing in as if it had been waiting for me to be still.

Sleep came and went for me. It felt like as soon as I was falling asleep, my phone was ringing.

When I checked the time, it was seven in the morning and my sister was calling.

She was, of course, letting me know she’d be on her way to get Adonis in a few, so I needed to get him ready.

Thank God for that call because he definitely would have missed the zoo this time as I was dead asleep in Rennix’s arms.

I arose from the bed, taking care of my hygiene and going to brew coffee.

I was never the type to go back to sleep after I was fully awake, so this was it.

I was up and needed to get my day started.

I went into Adonis’s room, going into his closet before I woke him.

It took me no time to pick out what he was wearing today.

I woke him up five minutes later and got him together, brushing his teeth, moisturizing his skin, and making sure he was presentable while still half asleep.

Adonis was a morning person, but some mornings were just no-gos. My baby loved his sleep.

“You gotta wake up if you wanna go to the zoo with Te-Te.”

“Mommy, I tired,” he whined, clinging to me as I walked him into the living room. I smelled my coffee which meant I needed to be making my way to it.

“Do you want me to tell Te-Te another day?” I asked.

“No,” he whined when I sat him on the couch and moved to the kitchen. I was thirteen seconds into stirring my coffee when Cylah called and told me she was outside. I walked him out and put him into his seat before leaning into the passenger side window to talk to her.

“I’ll Zelle you in a few.”

“What are you sending me money for, Cay?” She looked confused.

“Because you’re taking him out.”

She waved me off. “I told your surrogate mother ass he’s fine. That’s my baby. We good.”

I laughed. “Yeah, alright.” I was still gonna send her money.

“Now go in and go to sleep, you look like you were up all night. Don’t you have clients in a few?”

I nodded. “You right about that. Love you. Bye, baby,” I said to her and my son. Funnily enough, Adonis had already fallen back asleep in his seat.

“Love you too.”

I backed up and watched her pull out my driveway before I went back into the house. When I reentered the house, to my shock Rennix was in the kitchen making himself a cup of coffee. Of course he was, he was the only man I knew who actually drank coffee in the morning.

“Good morning to you too, Cay.”

“Hi.” What the fuck was that? I asked myself after I had already fucking said it.

“The fuck you outside in that little ass dress for?”

I scoffed, reaching for my own cup of coffee and moving to the sink.

“What, you mad at me about now, Caya baby? What I do?” The expression on his face was cute, too fucking cute for me to be staying mad right now. Not to mention he was shirtless with a pair of sweats hanging dangerously low at his waist.

“Why would you show up here drunk after being out with your hoes?” I asked, knowing damn well I shouldn’t have said a damn thing but I couldn’t stop myself. I was feeling what I shouldn’t have over a man who wasn’t mine. Fuck, I was jealous.

“I don’t get drunk with hoes because I don’t trust ’em. I was out with my broth—” he started, but I threw my hands up to stop him.

“No, don’t explain. I’m sorry, that’s none of my business. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” I shook my head, attempting to push off the moment. My anxiety got the best of me.

He shook his head and set the coffee cup down in front of him. “You know what’s wrong with you just like I do.” He was on his feet and had already rounded the corner into my space.

“And what is that, Rennix?” He was so close to me I could smell remnants of his cologne from last night.

He didn’t respond verbally but instead picked me up and placed me on the island before stepping between my legs.

“Rennix,” I almost whined, feeling his rough hands moving up my exposed thighs.

“What’s wrong with you is what’s wrong with me. I want you and you want me. Simple math and simple shit.”

With my lip tucked, I just looked at him, eyes relishing every feature of his.

“Speak your mind, Cay.”

“There is nothing simple about this, Rennix. What I want, you don’t, so sleeping with me or getting between my legs won’t change anything.”

“How do you know that? Wants and desires change, Caya.”

“Meaning?”

He didn’t speak at first but instead pushed his face into mine feverishly. “One night ain’t enough time. I want more than that. I want the strings, every fucking string you are offering.” Then, without giving me a chance to speak, his lips were on mine again, sealing the deal on his words.

“You want me?” I asked, during a brief intermission.

“Ain’t like I ain’t already have you, but yes, I want you and all you come with. You gonna gimme that? Or keep tryna tell me I’m a hoe.”

“Shit, if you want me, you better not be a hoe. That will get you stitches with me.”

He chuckled.

I laughed as well, comfortable in this moment with him even though I knew the declarations made could change everything for the worse.

“Yo, stop overthinking. If I’m fucking with you and you fucking with me, then not a soul else will matter. You hear me?” His hands now eased up my gown. When he peeped I was not wearing underwear, his eyes found mine.

“See, you are playing. You been wanting to give me this pussy.”

I was about to respond, but his touch against my flesh made whatever response I had matter so much less.

“Right?” he asked, using his other hand to push my gown up my thighs.

“I did, but I couldn’t take the risk,” I nearly whined, feeling his hand near my center. I just knew this man was about to wreck me and I’d be no good afterwards.

“What risk?” he asked, almost in a taunting manner when he had my gown up, waiting for me to lift my arms. “Lift up, Cay.”

I did as asked, biting into my bottom lip when he leaned forward and offered his. I gladly accepted, feeling his hands at my hips pulling me to the edge of the counter. “Ain’t no going back, Cay. Once I come home there ain’t no other place for me to be.”

That statement alone made between my legs even wetter. “Fuck.”

“Nah, I’m not about to fuck you, baby. I’m ’bout to show you what you been missing.

” When he pushed his shorts down, showcasing the most beautiful, long, thick, slightly curved dick I had ever seen, I had half a mind to get down on my knees and put it in my mouth.

Just as soon as he showed me, it was introduced to the wetness between my legs.

He didn’t push in immediately but instead played in my wetness for a minute before he slowly began to feed himself into me, like somehow he was giving me a minute to get used to his thickness.

“You good, Cay?” he asked, kissing my face before pulling back, then pushing in deeper. Every thrust was met with him reaching depths I was sure no one had reached before. This was unreal, the way he felt like he was touching everything without even trying.

“Shit, I don’t know, I feel li—” I started, but he picked me up and carried me from the counter to the wall, sending every signal possible into my body.

“Like what, baby?” he asked.

“I don’t know,” I moaned, feeling like my body was betraying me.

“I feel that shit baby, let it rock,” he coached as my legs began to shake on both sides of him. None of that made him slow down. He rocked into me so deep and heavy I just knew I was done.

“Who the fuck you belong to?” He ground into my center with no remorse, holding me in place.

I couldn’t believe he wanted to do all this talking when he was treating my body like this. It was unheard of the way I felt like my mind was short circuiting.

“Who, Caya?” He slammed into me, waiting for an answer.

“You,” I screamed, feeling the orgasm hit so hard I couldn’t breathe, think, or move.

All I knew was this nigga kept going, forcing my body over the edge.

After what felt like a million more uncoordinated thrusts later, he unloaded inside of me and I thanked my lucky stars I was on birth control even though our reckless asses hadn’t used a condom.

Everything in the world felt right. Something about being in his arms, my head to his chest. He felt right, even though this type of connection with any man had me about ready to shit bricks. I was praying he didn’t break the trust we’d built up. Because despite trying not to, I liked him… a lot.

“You down there fighting your sleep just to stay up and overthink some shit.”

I giggled because he caught me off guard. Why was he up? “I was not.”

“Then what were you thinking about, Cay?” He didn’t believe me, which he was right not to, because I was indeed overthinking.

“This is my mind. I can think what I want.”

At this point it was his turn to laugh. “Yo, you something else. Didn’t you just tell me you had heads to do at five?”

“And don’t you have to be at the club tonight?” I countered, being difficult because he was right.

“Yeah, but I’m used to lack of sleep. I know you ain’t. You need your eight or nine hours because without it you ’ont remember shit and you airy in there, Caybaby.” His fingertip tapped my temple.

“I am not.”

“Yeah aight. Then you be ’bout mean as fuck.”

“Uh, no. I know what day you’re talking about and I told you I was PMSing. Any and everybody can get it the week before and days of my period.” I sat up and stared down at him. He had a big ass grin on his face as always.

“And here I thought you needed some dick. I was about thirty seconds from asking if I needed to drop some off to you ’cause hell nah.” He pulled me back down, cradling me against him.

“Good thing you didn’t say that to me because I probably would have cursed you out.”

“Nah, I wouldn’t have. Probably would’ve popped up on straight business.”

I giggled. “Are you sure you’re ready for this?” I didn’t mean to change the subject, but I had to ask.

“Shit, who knows, but the fact that I want you makes this a no brainer. I’m willing to try as long as you’re willing to be patient with me and not become extremely angry about shit I cannot control.”

“Shit you cannot control like what? Your business?”

“Yeah, that’s just my business, nothing more.”

I nodded. “I feel you, and I’m gonna try my hardest not to nut up and to stay away from your place of business. Just please keep the bitches out of your face.”

He laughed. “Scout’s honor, bae. I’ma keep the bitches out my face even though don’t a sou?—”

“Don’t feed me that because the way Juicy talked about you at her appointment that time. Had I not known you and quickly realized she was embellishing some things, I would have believed you were her man. Speaking of, I’ma need you to shatter that fantasy she’s carrying.”

“Fantasy?” he asked and I could tell by the sound of his voice his face housed confusion.

“Yes, she thinks y’all are gonna be together.” I flipped over, chest to bed and chin to the crook between his underarm and his chest.

“I’on know what gave her that idea. You see the way me and you talk and the way I be all in your space? It’s different. I talk to you because I’m comfortable doing so. It comes naturally because between me and you it’s always been that way.”

“Good.”

I was caught off guard when he flipped my body, pinning me under him while his face hovered over mine. “Don’t be tryna check me.”

“I’m not. I’m just making sure I speak on things and not assume.”

He dipped his head, lips pressing against mine. “So you not about to take your ass to sleep?”

“I am. Well, I was but now you’re hovering over me.”

He grinned down at me, eyes holding joy. The type that was contagious because within seconds I was handing over a toothy grin. All my overthinking had ceased, and in this moment and every other one I foresaw in the future, it was just him and me.
