Chapter 29- A Best Friend's Love
The sight before me was heart-wrenching and I had to control myself before I started crying. Cole told me to be strong for both of us and crying wasn't going to help.
Bella had her leg bandaged and hanging up, she had a cervical collar around her neck and there was a tube connected to her mouth. I could see the bruise on her face. She was asleep and quiet, my Bella who is always happy and talking was asleep and I didn't know when she'd wake up.
" Bells," I whispered as I went to sit beside her on the bed.
" I'm here now, everything is going to be alright, you're going to wake up," I said as I placed my hand on her face, the face I've seen smile all the time, we've both had accidents but not like this, looking at her like this scares me.
" She'll be fine," Cole said as he came to stand beside me, placing his hands on me to comfort me.
" I think you should go home, and get some rest, you don't need to stay here with me," I told him as I placed my hand on his hand resting on my shoulder.
" Are you sure?" He asked and I nodded.
" You didn't get enough sleep last night, you need to rest so you can resume work tomorrow," I told him.
The door suddenly opened and a good-looking guy walked in with a sling on his arm.
" Uhm, I didn't expect people here," He said, looking like a deer caught in the headlights.
" Were you the one who called me?" I asked him and he looked at me in confusion.
" I'm her best friend," I said in clarification.
" Oh, yeah, that's me, my name is Luke, I found her phone on her when I pulled her out of the car, you were the last person she called so I called you," he said.
" Can you tell me what exactly happened," I asked.
He sighed before he walked to the couch in the room and took a seat.
" It was a horrible accident, we were trying to avoid being hit by a truck when our car swirled out of the road, luckily mine just tumbled once and I was able to get out on time but her car somersaulted several times and I was able to drag her out before the car caught fire," I gasped as my hand went to my mouth in shock.
What if he didn't get her out in time, she would have…I didn't want to think about it.
" Thank you so much, I don't even know how to start thanking you Luke, I'm forever grateful," I said sincerely.
" There's no need to thank me, I'm glad I could help," He said with a smile.
I'm so glad he was there to help Bella, I didn't want to think about the fact that I would have lost my best friend if he wasn't there to save her. I'll be forever indebted to him.
Cole stayed with me for some time before I asked him to go get rest while I stayed with Bella.
" How dare you get into an accident?" I asked Bella not like I expected any reply from her.
" If you wake up I'd let you take silly pictures of me however you want, I'd be your slave for how long you want, just wake up and I'll do whatever you want me to do, I promise," I said as I climbed on the bed to lay beside her.
" I'm going to tell you your favorite story, you always tell me this story whenever I was feeling sad, I hope this makes you feel better so you can wake up,"
I wish she would really wake up, I miss her smile and teasing.
" Please wake up,"

I went straight to my room as soon as I reached home. I wanted to stay with Anna a little longer so she wouldn't cry. She looked so sad seeing her friend like that and I wished I could do something to make her feel better.
I fell on my bed in exhaustion trying to sleep but I couldn't bring myself to sleep because my girlfriend was worried sick about her friend. I needed to hear her voice.
I brought out my phone from my pocket and I dialed her number. It rang about three times but she didn't pick up. Maybe she must have gone to sleep, she looked so exhausted and drained on our way back. So I decided to call my mom instead.
" Hi son, how was your trip to Switzerland?" She asked as soon as she picked up the call.
" It was very eventful, there were a lot of interesting things,"
" Yeah, yeah tell me about it," She said and I could hear the hidden meaning in her words. I couldn't help but chuckle.
" How wouldn't you have a good time when you went with your secretary slash girlfriend," She said and I felt like a schoolboy who was talking to his mother about his crush.
" How is she doing?" She asked.
" Not good," I said with a sigh.
" Why, what happened?" My mom asked her voice filled with worry.
" Her best friend got into an accident, it's pretty bad but we're hoping she'll wake up soon," I said.
" Oh the poor girl, I pray she'll be okay,"
" Me too Mum, I don't like the way Anna's face looked so sad and I couldn't do a thing about it but tell her it would be okay, speaking of which, I think I can help, I'll have to call the hospital to send the best doctor to take care of her friend and also get her a personal nurse, I'll do that,"
" Okay son, make sure you take care of my daughter-in-law, " My mom said and I raised my brows, unable to believe her words, saying this meant she already accepted Anna.
My mom meant the world to me and accepting Anna means she sees her as the girl I need, we both knew I've never shown interest in any girl like Anna. She was my woman and I would take care of her and everything that concerns her.
" I will Mom, I will,"
