Chapter 56- The Spoiled Brat

" We need to talk,"

You mean argue? Because that's the only thing we ever do, talking was different from arguing and my Dad didn't know how to talk, maybe with others, but not me.

" I'll be inside Mr. Leonard," Anna said and I nodded at her before she walked into the hall.

" What is it, father?" I asked with a groan.

" How many times have I told you to talk to me with respect?" Okay, I was seriously not in the mood for this, I couldn't handle this right now, I just wanted to walk into this hall and be with my woman, I didn't want to be talking to him, for all I know men were already looking at her, I didn't want that.

" Remember what I told you," He said like he expected me to remember the unimportant thing he said.

" Dad, I've told you whatever it is you and your business partner are scheming I'm not going to be a part of it," I said.

" Cole, Jerry, can you guys not start right now, people are watching us and both of you don't look like you're involved in a friendly conversation, so stop this," My Mom said.

" Well, I do not want to argue, thank you, Mom, I'll be inside," I said, and before he could say anything I entered the hall.

The place looked wonderful, they did a very wonderful thing with the hall, and it looked beautiful with the decorations and colors.

I looked around for her but she wasn't anywhere to be found, I was beginning to worry when I saw her in a corner talking to Nathan. What was she doing with that annoying cousin of mine?

I swear if he was trying to sway my woman with his words I'm going to deal with him in my own way.

I walked to them and Nathan spotted me first as he shielded Anna from me so she wouldn't see me.

" What are you guys up to?" I asked as soon as I reached them as Anna turned to me with a smile.

" Nothing, we were just gossiping," She said as Nathan chuckled, I narrowed my eyes at both of them, why were they talking like they were best friends or something?

" Anna is my new best friend, I chose her over you," He said and Anna chuckled, giving him a light punch on his arms, they were acting like children.

" And when did she become your best friend?" I asked

" Well, she told me she needed a male friend and she likes me so I accepted," He said and I turned to Anna, her response was to shrug. If she needed a male friend, I could be that, oh wait, I'm her boyfriend, but I can still be her boyfriend slash best friend.

I was about to prude further when I was interrupted.

" Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this year's annual ball, we are delighted that you all have taken out your time to be here, every year we gather like this to celebrate our hard work throughout the year and that's why we come together as a family, business partner, and friends to celebrate the relationship we have and to make new relationships, that's why I'd like to welcome you all, thank you for being here and I hope you enjoy the evening," My mom said with that warm smile she always has on her face.

My Dad helped her down from the stage and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. I know he has never been harsh or treated my mom badly but seeing him being all gentlemanly seemed weird because the only side of him I knew was the side where he was always shouting.

The ball kicked off as everyone got invested in one conversation or the other, I walked with Anna to greet some of our partners, and some of my employees who don't get to see me everyday walked up to me to say hi.

Time for entertainment came and we all took our seats as we watched the orchestra play. I sneaked my hand under the table to hold Anna's hand and she turned to me with a knowing smile. She couldn't look this beautiful and expect me to keep my hands to myself.

We were quietly watching the orchestra when a woman walked up to our table and whispered something to Anna.

" I'll be right back," She said as she stood up.

" Is there a problem?" I asked,

" Nothing serious, I'll take care of it," She said before she followed the woman and I watched them walk away. I was wondering what the problem was.

******

This lady was getting on my nerves, how could she decide to take off something that Cole's mother wanted on the menu, what was she even doing there? She was supposed to be seated like everyone was but she had to cause trouble. Everything has already been taken care of, what else did she want?

" I want you to take it off, take them away!" I heard her voice as soon as I reached where all the food were being kept.

" What is it this time?" I asked and she stopped talking as she turned to look at me.

" You went to bring her? Why? Do you think I'm scared of her or something?" She asked as she turned to the lady who was sent to call me.

" That's not why I'm here, you're supposed to be seated like everyone, why are you here? And why are you trying to take chicken taquitos off the menu, Mrs. Leonard specifically asked for them to be made," I told her.

" I don't care who asked for it, I want it taken off," The disrespect, I'm not going to stand here and let this spoiled brat talk to me however she likes.

" You seem to like talking a lot don't you?" I asked her as I glared at her.

" Even if I like talking, I don't like talking to lowlifes like you," She said as she looked me up and down like I was trash, who does this lady think she is?

" I'm not going to stand here and listen to…" I didn't get to finish what I was going to say as she pushed off everything from the table, throwing them to the floor and I quickly moved back with a gasp.

" What have you done?! We have guests and you just threw half of what the chef made, are you mad?!" I asked in anger.

" Since you think I talk too much I decided to act," She said with a smirk as she started walking to the door but just as she reached the door she stopped and turned to me.

" Fix this," And then she walked out.
