Chapter 62-Running For Dear Life

I froze, unable to move my legs as the dogs watched me. It wasn't until they growled at me that I realized I was supposed to be running and without a second thought I broke into a run.

I was screaming at the top of my lungs running without direction, I just wanted to be away from those damn dogs.

They were after me like mad creatures and I couldn't help but scream as I saw one of them catching up to me real quick.

Believe me I never knew I could run this fast. That's why they always say you never know what you can do until you're faced with a situation.

I took another turn and when I turned I didn't see the dogs. Did I lose them or were they playing a trick on me?

I didn't slow down, I kept running when I suddenly heard the sound of paws following fast behind me.

And here I was thinking I lost them.

I had to hide, that was the only way right now.

I quickly took a turn as I went to hide behind a tree and covered my mouth immediately.

What the hell was Derick thinking when he brought dogs here? Did he think I was going to escape? But if he thought about that and still kept dogs outside it meant he was trying to kill me.

This didn't make any sense.

I saw one of the dogs sniff around and my hand covering my mouth tightened even more as my heart beat so fast in my chest like it would come out.

It was like if I breathed for even a second I would be found.

They searched around for a little while before running off, they must have concluded that I wasn't there.

I stayed put for some minutes before I decided to get up on shaky legs.

I couldn't go back and I didn't even know where the car was parked, I don't think I've ever been as frustrated as I felt at the moment.

I looked around me and was surrounded by tall trees. I hadn't had time to look around, not when I was being chased by dogs that looked like they were eager to tear me apart.

After walking for a while I found myself on the road but the problem was there weren't any cars.

I didn't have my phone on me to book a ride and to make matters worse I was all alone on the road.

I was still walking when it suddenly started raining and here I was thinking that the worst was being alone.

I saw a light flash from behind me and I turned to see a truck driving my way, maybe they'll help.

“ Help! Help! Please, I need a ride!" I said as I waved at the truck but it just drove past me.

I was getting really cold.

I didn't stop, I kept walking under the rain although I didn't know where I was headed.

I'm just hoping that I don't freeze to death before I find a way out of here.

*******

I swear I would kill that bastard if anything were to happen to her, I don't even understand how it was so easy for him to walk in there and pick her without anyone's notice, nobody suspected a damn thing.

After checking all the surveillance cameras we were able to get the number on his car and the police tracked the car and that is where we were headed.

“ Chill Cole, you look like you're going to kill someone right now," Nathan said, he wasn't wrong, if I wasn't stopped I might kill someone.

The tracker stopped at a place and I looked around but there weren't any houses then where the hell were we?

“ What's this? Why did we stop here?" I asked the officer as soon as we came out of the car.

“ This is where the tracker stopped so we have to look around,” This is why I never count on the police, they can be annoying sometimes.

“ I have a feeling there might be a cabin somewhere around, that's where all the psycho ex bring women they kidnapped in books I've read,” Nathan said.

Let's hope his book analogy was correct.

“ Let's look around," I said and we spread out as two officers followed behind me and Nathan. Not even the rain beating down my body could stop the determination in my steps.

I had to find her and I'm hoping I'm not late because I swear if he touches what's mine hell would break loose.

“ Look, up there, I wasn't wrong after all," Nathan said as he pointed to a cabin just some distance away and we quickly rushed towards it.

The rain was pouring down so heavily and the cold air was ear numbing.

When we reached the door one of the officers tried to open the door but it was locked.

“ Break it down or something," Nathan said.

They were about to break the door when the lightning flashed and something caught my eyes.

Bunch of keys were laid on the floor in front of the door.

“ Look here—keys," I said as I quickly picked the keys and tried them until the door opened.

Why would the keys be outside the door?

We pushed the door open and entered inside but surprisingly we found the jerk asleep with no sign of Anna.

“ Where the fuck did you keep her?" I asked in anger and was about to rush to the sleeping asshole but my cousin stopped me.

“ Calm down now brother, you don't want to do something stupid," He said.

One would think she wasn't here but the glasses on the table showed she was here then where was she? Was she hiding somewhere?

“ Anna! Anna! Are you here?" I called but didn't get any response.

If she was here she'd recognize my voice and come out or maybe she wouldn't believe I'm the one.

“ Anna, it's me, please come out if you're here," I said.

“ I don't think she's here, we've searched everywhere and from the look of things it looked like she made him drunk and escaped," Nathan said.

I turned to the table and the jerk that was asleep and saw his point.

That might just be the case.

My smart ass woman, she managed to escape, but where the hell was she?

“ The police should deal with him or something, I have to find Anna," I said as I started making my way to the door.

“ I'll come with you," Nathan said and I nodded as we quickly rushed out the door.

I'm just hoping she's okay, she has to be.
