Chapter 63- Getting Sick

Nathan and I started looking around if Anna was anywhere nearby but there wasn't any sign of her, my heart was beginning to hammer in my chest like it would fall off.

“Where the fuck could she be?" I asked as I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration.

By now the rain had stopped falling but it was cold and I was worried she might be out there all cold and lost.

I couldn't even hide the fact that there was something going on between Anna and me again.

The worry on my face was enough proof.

“ Calm down dude, we'll find her," Nathan said as he rested his hand on my shoulder.

“ When? We've been searching this goddamn place and calling her name for how long but we haven't been able to find her. What am I going to do with myself if something were to happen to her?" I asked with a sigh.

" It going to be okay,” he said,

" I think we should go back, I don't think she's here, maybe she was able to escape and she's somewhere safe," Nathan said.

“ But what if she's not?"

“ Can you stop thinking the worst," Nathan said.

“ Alright, let's go back to the car hoping that she's already safe somewhere,”

We returned to the cabin and the officer's had already taken the drunk freak to their car.

We all left the place as we walked to our various cars and got in.

My head was beginning to ache because of so much thinking.

Nathan took over the wheel as I sat on the passenger's seat lost in my thoughts as he started the car and drove off.

“ What the fuck?! Isn't that…” He said in shock as the car came to a halt.

" What is it?” I asked as I turned to him then my eyes followed his line of sight.

" Shit, Anna!" I called as I immediately opened the door and got out.

“ Anna!" She came to a stop as she turned to me with shock filled eyes, she opened her mouth to say something but nothing came out and then without warning she started crying.

I ran to her as I engulfed her in my arms. She was so cold and she was drenched from head to toe.

I quickly carried her to the car and we both entered the backseat of the car.

“ Turn on the car heater Nathan, she's so cold like she's going to freeze," I told him and he immediately turned on the car heater.

I took my suit jacket that I had earlier left in the car and covered her.

“ We need to take her to the hospital, she's shaking uncontrollably, drive to the hospital please," I said as I drew Anna closer to me and she just kept crying, holding unto me for dear life.

“ It's okay, you're safe now, you'll be alright,” I said as my hand, rubbed her arm trying to create warmth.

“ Drive faster Nathan, she's shaking, faster," I said.

“ I'm trying, I'm trying," He said as he increased the speed of the car.

We reached the hospital in no time and I carried Anna in my arms as we entered the hospital. I placed her on the stretcher as she was quickly taken so she could be checked and I followed.

They took her into a room for check up and I had to wait outside.

“ Hey bro, you gotta chill,"

“ Stop telling me to chill, she could have died, she could have fucking died if we did not find her on time, you didn't feel how cold she was, I swear if I get a hold of that asshole I'll destroy him,” I said in anger as I felt my chest heaving.

It became silent after pouring out my anger on innocent Nathan.

“ I'm sorry man, I'm just really pissed off right now, pardon me," I said.

“ It's okay, I understand, if I found the girl I like in such a position I'd be furious,” Nathan said.

“ I just don't know what his deal is with her, he didn't want her and now he wants her back, just how crazy is that?" I said as I leaned on the wall.

Some time later the door opened and the doctor walked out.

" Doctor how's she doing?” I asked.

" She has a terrible fever but it's not life threatening or anything, she'll be fine with the right medication and proper care,” That didn't make me feel any better, all this would have been avoided if that prick didn't take her.

“ Can we go see her now?" I asked.

“ Yeah sure, but do know that she's asleep," he said and I nodded before Nathan and I rushed to the door.

I opened the door and we got in and there was a nurse attending to her.

“ Hello sirs,” The nurse greeted without removing her eyes from what she was doing.

She finished putting the drip on her before she took her things and left.

I walked to Anna as I placed my hand on her head, she wasn't so cold anymore she was burning up now.

“ We should really change from these clothes before we get sick too, men are not immune to the cold," Nathan said.

“ You're right, let's get out of these clothes, but I can't leave her here, get something for me to change into too,” I said to Nathan.

“ Sure bro, I'll be right back," He said before squeezing my shoulder and walking out of the room.

It was left with just me and Anna now and she looked so pale.

“ Hey baby, you got me so worried, I was scared out of my mind, I said I was going to protect you but I failed you again, I don't even know what to say right now, I'm sorry for letting you down," I said as I bent my head in shame.

What do you call a boyfriend who can't take care of his girlfriend?

Incompetent, that's the word.

I straightened up when I heard the door opening as Nathan walked in.

“ Here, change into this, and you left your phone and hers in the car, I think her friend is calling,"

“ Oh shit I almost forgot, she must be so worried," I said as I took the phone from him and immediately Bella's call came through.

" Hey Bella,”

" Did you find her? Is she okay? Is she with you? How is she doing? Is…”

" Hey, hey, hey, calm down, she's with me and she's doing okay, no need to be worried,"

“ Oh thank Jesus," She said with a sigh from the other end.

“ Where are you guys right now? I want to speak to Bella," she said.

“ Bella is sleeping right now but as soon as she wakes up I'll tell her you called,"

“ Oh, okay, thank you so much," She said.

“ My pleasure," I said before I ended the call.

" I'm glad we found her,” Nathan said as he looked at Anna.

" Yeah, I'm glad, we just have to wait for her to wake up."
