Chapter 64- Safe at Last

“ Son, I've been trying to call you, why won't you just pick my calls?" My Mom asked over the phone and I couldn't help but sigh.

" I'm sorry Mom but I'm not even in the right frame of mind to talk right now, I just had to pick your call because I didn't want you to worry,” I said.

" What's the problem? You left in such a hurry, your Dad was…”

" Can we please not talk about him, Mom let's talk tomorrow, remember we agreed to meet, so let's just talk there, I'll explain everything to you,” I said.

“ Fine, take care son," She said before the call ended.

I felt so stressed and knowing that Anna hasn't woken up made everything ten times worse.

“ Hey man, something came up. I'll have to go home, but I'll come check up on her tomorrow as soon as I can," Nathan said as he came to sit beside on the hospital couch.

" It's okay, thank you so much for your help tonight, I'm grateful, I don't know what I would have done without your help,” I said.

" It's nothing, you're my brother, call me as soon as she wakes up,” he said as he stood up and I nodded.

I walked with him to the door before I bid him good night and then I returned to the room.

I just sat on the couch and my eyes went to Anna. I wonder just what she went through tonight, with how cold the weather was we found her under the rain.

That bastard should be ready to take whatever I throw his way because I wouldn't let this slide.

I stood up from the couch to go sit beside her bed as my hand held hers, she was cold to touch at the same time hot, if that made sense.

The only thing preventing me from panicking right now was because the doctor told me she's alright and her condition isn't life threatening.

She was safe now and that was all that mattered.

I sigh as I rested my head on the bed with my hand still holding hers.

I was awoken by something touching my ear and I tried to push it away but it wouldn't stop, not until my mind reminded me of where I was and my head quickly looked up to see those beautiful brown eyes staring down at me.

It was final, my favorite color is brown.

“ You're awake,” I whispered like I couldn't believe my eyes.

“ Yes I'm…” she was about to say but she broke into a fit of coughing.

" Sorry,” I said as I lightly patted her back.

" I'll quickly get you something hot to drink, you want hot chocolate?” I asked and she nodded.

" Be right back,” I said as I quickly rushed out of the room.

Some minutes later I returned with a hot cup of coffee as I opened the room door and entered.

“ Here you go, please take small sips so you won't burn your tongue," I said and she nodded before she took the cup from me.

“ What happened?" She asked as she drank from the cup.

“ You don't remember what happened?" I asked, surprise laced in my voice.

“ I do but I don't remember much from when it started pouring, all I remember was shaking in the cold rain," she said and my heart couldn't help but squeeze in pain, I kept pushing away the thought of what might have happened if we didn't find her but I didn't want to think about the if.

“ We found you and brought you to the hospital, you don't have to worry about that, all that matters now is that you're doing okay," I said as my hand touched her cheek.

“ We?" She asked.

“ Yeah, Nathan went with me, he was here last night,"

“ Oh, I'll have to thank him," She said as she drank all the hot coffee before handing the cup to me.

“ I have to call Bella, she must be so worried about me, and I know my Mom would be worried too,” She said as her eyes started looking around like she was looking for something.

" Did you find my phone, I lost it last night,”

“ Yeah, it's with me," I said as I brought out her phone from my pocket and handed it to her.

“ I'll quickly call Bella,” She said and I nodded as I quietly watched her, she coughed again but it wasn't as bad as when she first woke up.

“ Bella," she said over the phone in relief as she put the phone on speaker and then rested her back to get comfortable.

“ Anna, I was worried about you, you're awake,” Bella said and I could hear the relief in her voice.

“ I'm doing okay, what about Mom?" Anna asked when suddenly the line on the other end became silent and the Anna's mom's voice came through the phone.

“ How could you keep something as important as your safety from me Anna? Don't I mean anything to you?" She asked and I knew that the cat was let out of the bag.

Anna didn't want her to worry, which was why she haven't told her about her stalker ex.

“ I'm sorry Mom, please don't say that," Anna said with sadness as my hand went to squeeze her knee in comfort.

“ Then why didn't you tell me about everything that has been happening? Why did it have to get to this?” She asked but Anna shook her head and then she realized her mom wasn't even in the room.

" I'm sorry Mom,” she apologized.

" What hospital?" She asked as Anna turned to me and I mouthed the name of the hospital for her as she told her Mom.

“ We'll be there shortly,"

“ Okay," she said before the call ended.

" They're coming, my mom sounded so mad at me, I didn't mean to keep it from her, it's just that I was so worried, I didn't want it to bother her,” She said with her eyes down before my fingers went under her chin to lift her head up.

" It's not your fault, no need to be sad,” I whispered as my fingers slowly rubbed her lips.

" Wait, hold on a minute, if they're coming here it means my Mom would meet you here, you have to go, what would I introduce you as when she come?”

" Your boyfriend,”

" No,”
