Chapter 68- A Promise of Protection
“ I…I don't understand you,” she said as she turned to look at her friend and they both turned to look at me like they were controlled by a remote.
“ Babe look, right now I feel agitated and worried whenever I'm not with you, I just want you to be close to me, you and Bella, that way I wouldn't have to worry about the both of you," I said,
“ You worry about me too? I'm a kick ass you know," Bella said and I couldn't help but chuckle,
“ I do know that if anything happens to you, there would be trouble because Anna won't rest so that leaves me to worry about the both of you," I said,
" Uhm, guys I'd wait outside, whatever decision you make is fine by me,” Bella said as she started wheeling herself outside,
"Are you sure you'll be okay on your own?” I asked her,
" Yeah, I'll just be outside the door. I just wanna give you guys privacy,” she said and I walked to the door and opened the door for her as she wheeled herself out and I closed the door.
“ What were you saying?" I asked as I turned to Anna,
“ It's not going to work Cole, my Mom is already having a lot of doubts about us being in a relationship, what do you think would happen if she finds out we're living together?” she asked,
“ But my love this is for the best, I don't want something like this to ever happen, I don't want that bastard to ever sneak into your house or bother you, I don't want him to even know where you live," I said as I held her hand and dropped a kiss.
“ Please my love, for my peace of mind and for your own safety, just move in with me," I said as she looked me in the eyes and I could tell that wheels were moving in her head, she was contemplating if she wanted what I was asking for or not.
“ I…I don't…”
" Please baby, please,” I said trying to give her my best puppy dog eyes, it wasn't only women that had the power to do that.
I just wanted her to be close to me, I didn't care what anyone would say, as long as she was okay, that was all that mattered to me.
“ No, no we can't," she finally said and I couldn't help but feel a kind of sadness in my heart. It was like I got rejected.
Of course I got rejected, she just refused to move in with me so that does count as rejection.
“ Listen baby, I love you and I don't want people to drag your name to the mud, to the outside world I'm nothing but your secretary but to you I am the woman you love, your woman," I couldn't help but smile as she said that,
“ Yes, you're my woman," I said as I kissed her open palm… " my only woman,”
" And that's why I've decided that even though I'm not going to move in with you, I'm going to let you pick the house you want us to live in, it shouldn't be one of your properties, just a normal and safe apartment for me and my best friend,” she said and I nodded.
" Yes ma'am, I'm going to do just that,” I said,
" Thank you so much baby, thank you so much for always being there for me, you're like my guardian angel, always coming to my aid when all hope is lost, I love you so much,” she said with a smile and I couldn't hold myself, I moved close to her as I claimed her lips.
“ You're the best thing that has ever happened to me," I said,
“ No, I should be the one saying that," she said and I couldn't help but chuckle,
“ We might keep arguing about that but for now I'm going to bask in the feeling that I mean so much to you," I said as I squeezed her cheek playfully and she pushed my hand away.
“ When did the doctor say I can leave? I'm already tired of being here," she complained as she looked at the needles that were still connected to the hands.
“ Soon. Tell me, are you desperate to leave because you're tired of staying here or you're desperate to continue where we stopped before your Mom came?” I said as she threw her head back in laughter and the sound was music to my ears.
She was doing okay, that's all that matters to me.

“ I'm so happy you've found a good man Anna, you should have seen the look in his eyes, he looked so protective and possessive, I want someone like that," Bella said and I couldn't help but smile.
After Cole left for the office and she came back to this room she wouldn't stop talking about how happy she was that she finally found the brother-in-law that she had dreamt of.
Someone I didn't have to force her to like, like Derrick.
They only got along for my sake and it was trouble trying to stop them from fighting each time.
“ So what did you say about the house? Are we moving in with him?" she asked and I narrowed my eyes at her,
“ Did you really think I was going to accept moving in with him? No Bella, that wouldn't be good for any of us," I said,
" So what was your decision?” she asked,
" I just told him that he should help us look for a place, at least that way he wouldn't feel like I don't want him to take care of me, I did the right thing right?” I asked,
" Yeah, it's better that way,” she said,
It suddenly became quiet between us and I knew that what was to come next would be a rollercoaster of emotions.
" I was scared Anna, I was scared when Cole picked the call and they didn't know where you were, I thought the worst,” she said as her eyes filled with tears.
" Hey...” I took her hand in mine as she joined me on the bed..."I'm doing okay now and Derrick is with the police, he'll never bother me again, you don't have to cry,” I said as she hugged me and without warning she burst into tears and joined her.
" I'm doing okay you bitch, stop crying,” I said as she hugged me tightly,
“ He'll never hurt you again or I'll kill him, I was so, so scared," she said as I patted her back.
“ Nobody is going to kidnap me again, it's a promise okay," I said,
" Promise?” She asked,
" Promise,”
