Chapter 114- Past Wounds

‘ I give up everything and you can take it and give it to Nathan or whoever you please, there's nothing you can do to make me marry Mirabel,” I said and he chuckled, there was just something about the sound that sent shivers down my spine. It was like he was telling me he had won this one.
‘ Oh son, there's definitely something I can do,’
‘What are you talking about?’ I asked him with my hands clenched at my side.
‘You don't seem to know me, do you?’ He asked as he got up from his chair and walked to me then stopped just in front of me.
‘You think that you can just embarrass me like that and I won't do anything about it? There are other ways to tame someone like you who thinks he's a Lion,’ he said with a deep laugh.
‘ You want to abandon everything I worked for just for a woman and you think I'll just fold my hands and watch, you should know me better than that,’ he said,
‘What are you driving at? Hurry up I've got places to be,’ I said impatiently, I was done and didn't want to be here. What more could he threaten me with aside stripping one of the company?
‘ If you think I can't hurt you, there's something I can do to her and her entire family,’ he said and I took a threatening step towards him.
‘ Easy there boy,’ he said with a laugh.
‘ If you touch Anna I swear you'll not like me, not like you ever did,’ I said and he just sighed.
‘ If you had just listened to me this wouldn't have gotten this far,’ he said with a shake of his head.
‘ Don't do anything stupid, don't,’ I warned,
‘ It's totally up to you to decide, if you marry Mirabel I won't go through with my plan but if you don't…’ he just shrugged. But I knew what he meant.
‘ What are you planning to do?’ I asked as I watched him with anger in my eyes, it was taking everything in me not to do something stupid, as Anna said, he's my Dad after all but he wasn't acting like one.
‘ It's a simple plan, I don't think you know her family runs a small perfume company, barely anything, but I checked and they have a few investors and partners, just a few calls and they'll pull out, and you know what that means, they'll definitely hit rock bottom and I don't think their poor heart would be able to handle that, especially if they know it's all your fault, so think again son, will you marry Mirabel or not?’
‘ You're a monster, that's what you are, how can you do something like this?’ I asked in anger as my heart beat so fast in my chest like it would fall out.
‘ Do you think she'll be able to look at you knowing you're the one responsible for the downfall of a company her family has worked hard to take to the level they are?’
‘ You know they've worked hard for it, so why are you doing this?’ I asked,
‘ I'd do anything to stop you from doing something stupid because I am your father,’
‘ You're not, you cannot be my father, a good father wouldn't cause pain to his child but that's the only thing you've done so far,’ I said as I looked him straight in the eyes.
‘ You think it's pain now, you'll be grateful to me later,’ he said and I scoffed,
‘Don't even try to act smart because as it is now, I already have two people that pulled out because I asked them to,’ he said in satisfaction as he walked to his chair and sat down.
‘ The time is ticking,’ he said as he tapped his wristwatch.
‘ Take your hands off their business and never interfere again and I'll marry Mirabel,’ I said. Even as I said the words I felt like I just pulled my heart with my own hand.
‘ See that wasn't so hard,’ he said, I could see the look of victory in his eyes and I hated him for that.
‘ I hate you,’
And from then onward we've never had a good relationship and nothing can mend that.

I removed the tie that has been hanging me all night as I opened my room door and walked in. I didn't even know what to say about tonight.
I saw Anna and I couldn't even talk to her, the way she looked at me like we were strangers who didn't have a history together. Like I never meant anything to her.
What did I expect? That she'll hug me and talk to me like old friends. She was even nice enough to smile at me after all the hurtful things I said to her.
My room door opened and I knew it was Mirabel. She didn't come with me to dinner because she had to watch our son.
I seriously wasn't in the mood for her nagging.
“ Not now Mirabel," I said,
“ So I heard you saw her today, don't tell me you still love her after all these years? You knew she would come back, that's why you gave me the divorce papers right?" Oh God save me from this woman.
" I've told you countless times Mirabel that I don't love you and I'll never love you, if you've accepted that from the beginning we won't be here now. So please leave me alone,” I said as I fell on my back on the bed.
" Listen, that's not going to happen, I'm not signing any divorce, you're not going to leave me,” she said before storming out of which I was grateful.
I gave her the papers two months ago because I was done. I couldn't continue being unhappy.
I followed up Anna's parents company and they're not the type of company you can just bring down without a fight, they're big now and then today I find out that;
Anna is very powerful now and she's not a woman that can be easily brought down.
What else was I waiting for?
