Chapter 117- False Lead
As early as I could, I got up and got ready but before stepping out, I called the police officer in charge of my son's case in Canada and told him about the message.
I entered the car and told the driver to take me to the police station.
The car stopped me in front of the station and I quickly got out as I walked into the building.
“ Hey, you're here early, what's the matter?” one of the officer's asked as soon as she saw me.
“ I want to…”
" Wait, you're the lady from that show yesterday, the lady behind that perfume, is it The Veil of Mist?” she asked and I nodded, that was the last thing I wanted to talk about.
" Please follow me,” she said as she led the way and I followed.
We reached a door with the title ‘Chief’ and she knocked as a deep voice from inside told us to come in. The woman opened the door before she turned to me.
“ Talk to him, he's in charge," she said before she moved aside for me and I entered.
“ Hello ma'am, please take a seat," the Chief said and I nodded before I sat down.
" How may I help you?” He asked me and I sighed before I started narrating my pain for the past four years and then I told him about the message.
“ This could be an indication that your child is here but we can't jump into conclusions, anyone you suspect?” He asked but I shook my head.
Nobody here knew I was pregnant the time I left. This is just so frustrating, was this another stupid lead that would end in nothing and would just leave me even more heartbroken than I was?
“ Madam, we'll look into this and contact the authorities in Canada so they can give us whatever they have," he said,
“ Thank you, the officer in charge we'll be in Texas before tomorrow, I called him to inform him this morning," I said,
“ Ow, that's good. Listen madam it doesn't matter that you've looked for your son for so long, you'll find him, just have faith," he said and I managed a smile before I stood up.
He walked me to the door and opened it for me as I thanked him before walking out.
The woman who escorted me to the Chief's office walked me out.
I got into the car and just then my phone started ringing and I picked it to see it was Liam.
“ Where are you? I've been knocking on your door,” he said,
“I went out,” I simply said,
“ Anna, you went to the police station without telling me,” he said and I sighed,
" I don't want to drag any of you into my mess, what if things start getting dangerous Liam, I don't want any of you to be in danger, please understand me," I said hoping he'd agree with me.
“ It's my choice Anna, and right now I want to support you in everything, you have to know that there's someone here for you, you're not alone, remember that fate made us meet for a reason,” he said,
" Yeah, you're right, I'm on my way back,” I said,
" Alright I'll be expecting you,”
Whatever life is going to throw at me now, I'm ready.

I was in the office but my mind was somewhere else, I haven't stopped thinking about her after seeing her last night.
I couldn't help but smile as I thought about how sweet she used to be towards me.
Any way she treats me now it's because I deserve it.
I blinked when I heard my phone ringing and I picked it to see it was Nathan.
“ Hey," I said,
“ Did you watch the video I sent you yesterday?" He asked and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. He sends me videos every time that I can't keep up.
“ Which one?” I asked,
" Are you serious? Just check,” he said with an annoyed groan before he ended the call and I couldn't help but crunch my brows at his attitude. He has been grumpy these days.
I opened the message from him and played the video and immediately, my heart beat increased. This was the interview Mrs Humphrey was talking about.
She looked so beautiful and elegant, like a fucking goddess. I listened to the interview like a love sick fan until it got to the point that made me freeze.
She had a son and he was missing.
