Chapter 10

are you sure about that?

Savannah

Amir zips me back into my dress as my heart pounds with every passing second. My least favorite part of this arrangement is finding something good, only to let it go and start over again. I keep stealing glances her way while she’s getting dressed.

She is absolutely gorgeous and I’ll never see her again.

I want to ask, but I don’t want her to feel obligated to spend more time with us. I mean, she’s probably exhausted and we put her through it tonight. Surely, she’s ready to go home. Amir’s deep voice rumbles, slicing through my nervous thoughts, grounding me in a way only he can.

“Baby, don’t be shy now. Ask her. You never know,” he says in a hushed tone, pressing a kiss to my back.

“I can’t. She doesn’t owe us anything. We’ve never done this before,” I whisper-shout.

“Savannah, if you don’t ask for what you want, I’ll do it for you,” he grits. “Can ask her to come for you, but draw the line at having a drink? You got this, baby. I’m right here with you.”

I hate when he’s right.

She pulls her dress up her hips and I’m reminded of how good they felt against me earlier. I take a deep breath, committing her to memory as I clear my throat. Her gentle eyes stare expectantly at me and I freeze. Amir rests his hand on my lower back, a soothing touch that eases my nerves.

“Listen, there’s a bar at the hotel across the street we’re going to if you’d like to join us for a nightcap.”

She doesn’t respond right away and the silence makes me nervous, but he rubs my back, assuring me that it’ll be okay.

“I know this wasn’t discussed prior and it’s spur of the moment. If you’re not comfortable, we’ll respect that. Please don’t feel obligated to say yes.”

He stops me from rambling when he chimes in, upping the sell.

“If you’d like to, we’ll arrange a car to bring you home, but I’ll insist on breaking our no-contact rule only because we won’t sleep until you let us know you made it home safely.”

I love this man.

She assesses us and chuckles. “Y’all are really cute. Of course. I’d like that a lot.”

“Okay,” I say with a relieved sigh. “We’ll meet you in the lobby and head over together.”

“Sounds good to me,” she says, looking me up and down with a smirk. “I’ll be right down.”

I nod, exiting the room with Amir on my heels, sighs of ecstasy reverberate around us as we make our way to the elevator. His hand clasps mine as we board the empty car and he smirks at me.

“What?” I ask.

“I knew she’d say yes. Stop being so damn scary,” he teases, swatting my ass.

“Thank God. That was terrifying.”

He tosses his head back with a cackle.“You get some good pussy after a while and start acting like you can’t pull nobody. You pulled me and every guest we’ve invited here for the past five years.”

“I sure did.”

“Exactly. I would’ve been a fool to say no to you. She wasn’t going to say no though. She liked us.”

She liked us.

“I like her. She’s a fast learner and made you fucking squirt. Talked a lot of shit and held her own.”

“Like the good girl she is,” I say with a chuckle.

We step off the elevator and head to the check out desk, where Lila waits with a knowing smile stretched across her face.

“I heard you drew quite a crowd on the voyeur floor,” she says with a raised brow. “Security was busy.”

“Do me a favor and don’t mention it to D,” he says, in a low voice.

“He’s the one who told me,” she admits with a chuckle. “You know he never sits down.”

She clicks away on the keyboard, checking us out while her co-worker brings up the bin containing our valuables.

“You’re always welcome to reserve a spot for the theater. It would ensure that your audience had a decent view. Something to keep in mind for next time,” she adds with a wink.

“Thank you, but there won’t be a next time,” I say. “Rules are rules.”

With her, anyways.

“Are you sure about that?” she asks, wearing an incredulous look as she crosses her arms.

Amir and I stare at each other, unsure of how to respond, and in that moment, I’m reminded that the night is over just yet. She gifted us with her presence, and I’ll forever cherish it.

I’m thankful for the interruption when Nova enters the room and Lila rushes to get her checked out for the evening. Amir and I stand back, admiring her as she gathers her things.

She turns to us with a sweet smile and asks, “Y’all ready?”

I step out of Lilith’s hand in hand with her and Amir, swelling with pride as we enter the hotel together. Nova is both a lull and a jolt of life that absolutely turned us on our axis. We are the lucky ones, being granted the gift of more time with her before we go our separate ways.

I couldn’t be more grateful for the eight years of marriage that’s been brutally honest, free of judgement, and isn’t rough, unless I ask for it.

There’s so much love between us, that even when we share it with someone else, we’re replenished.

The well can’t run dry if you pour back into each other, and we always have.

Amir holds the door open and leads us to the bar, where the hostess greets us with a friendly smile. Nova requests a corner booth and the hostess leads the way. We trail behind her and she insists on sitting between us.

“Who got you smiling like that?” he asks, keeping his voice low.

“My fine ass husband and our girl.”

Only for tonight.

“Thanks for suggesting this, babe.”

“Of course. Happy anniversary, baby.” He presses a kiss on my cheek. “Another year down. Forever to go.”

Damn right.
