Chapter 14 #3

The liquor had me feeling leveled, which was exactly what I needed. Keynauri’s return had been so emotional, but I wanted to put all those emotions behind me and enjoy the moment. My brother was finally free, and no one would ever be able to separate us again.

“Damn, ma. You throwing that shit!” I heard a deep voice call out from behind me. When I glanced back and saw who it was, I smirked. His name was Trill Lex, and he was a local rapper who performed at the clubs I hosted at. I saw him watching me a few times, but he never approached me before.

“See something you like?” I cooed, knowing I was playing with fire.

“Hell yeah. You’re beautiful, and your body is out of this world. I see you on the club scene all the time, but every time I try to get close to you, I’m being pulled in a different direction. I guess today is my lucky day.” Trill rubbed his hands together, licking his lips at the same time.

I could admit he was attractive, but I loved my men chocolate.

Plus, he was way too flashy for me. His neck had to have been heavy with all of the chains he had on.

I counted five, not including the Cuban links.

Then there were six rings on his finger.

It reminded me of those people at the flea markets who put multiple watches on their arms to sell.

“What’s up with you? You tryna kick it with a real boss-ass nigga? I can tell whoever you’re with must not have any real bread, ’cause you should be dripping in diamonds.”

My eyes were glued to his grill. I never understood why people got them when their teeth were crooked, but I couldn’t pull my eyes away.

“Is there a problem?” I heard from behind me. For some reason, I expected him not to say anything because my brother was around, but he proved me wrong yet again.

“Aye, bro, you gotta wait your turn,” Trill spat, pulling me closer to him. I jerked my arm out of his grasp because it was clear he had lost his mind.

“Bitch boy, are you cool? Fuckin’ with this one right here will get you killed. You might want to get some water and sober the fuck up; otherwise, you gon’ find yourself in a fucked-up situation!” East roared.

“Aww, hell no. You’re doing a little too much for me.

When I see your bitch out hosting, she doesn’t act like she has a nigga at home.

Y’all mothafuckas be so sensitive behind a bitch who would pop their pussy for the highest bidder.

How are you mad at me for tryna shoot my shot?

” Trill ranted, sounding as if he was drunk off his ass.

“I’m not going back and forth with a nigga who gotta wear every piece of jewelry he owns to prove he has a little change.

This is my last and final warning. Stay away from my bitch.

If you ever put your hands on my woman again, I’ma splatter your fuckin’ brains out.

” East looked him up and down before flashing his gun in the waistband of his pants.

“All of this for some pussy that probably has more miles on it than—”

I flinched when East’s pulled out his gun and proceeded to pistol whip Trill like he stole something.

Unlike my fight, both of their friend groups stepped in and separated the two.

Trill’s mouth was crimson red with blood as he held the top row of his grill in his hand.

His nose leaked all over, ruining his Prada t-shirt.

“We gotta get the fuck out of here. Y’all nigga’s trippin’ tonight,” Logic grumbled, ushering us out of the section.

Even though no one knew Keynauri’s identity, the label insisted he have security with him whenever we went anywhere.

They cleared the area so we could walk out of the building.

Summyah and I locked arms as we headed to East’s car.

I might have been mad at my man, but I was taking my ass home.

He handed me his keys before he headed over to Keynauri.

After I said my goodbyes to everyone, I climbed inside and lay back on the headrest. My eyes were closed, but I hadn’t fallen asleep yet.

Summyah talked on the phone with her man while we waited for East to make it to the car.

My phone rang, but by the time I found it, the call dropped.

When I checked the caller ID, I saw it was my brother calling.

“Hey, are you in the car yet?” I asked.

“I’m about to get in now. Where are you? I thought you were coming home with me?”

I felt a little guilty because I wanted to spend more time with him, but I also wanted to be under my man.

“I’m drunk, and I want to sleep in my own bed. When I pick Symphonee up tomorrow, we’re gonna come over there and spend the day with you.”

“Okay, sounds like a plan. I love you, L-boogie.”

“I love you more, brudder. Get some rest. Your niece and I will be there bright and early to get on your nerves.”

“Impossible. Y’all are my lifeline. You could never get on my nerves. Good night.”

“Night.”

I hung up the phone, thanking the Big Man upstairs for answering my prayers. Even though the night hadn’t gone the way I planned, nothing could take away the joy I felt in my heart. My brother was finally home.
