Chapter 15

“This track is dope as hell. It sounds even better with the changes we made earlier,” I boasted.

Keynauri called me first thing in the morning to help him tweak a few of his tracks.

Being in the studio with him reminded me of how much I loved making music.

Keyz and I used to brainstorm when he would come to my granny’s house, and I would make beats to his lyrics.

When he got locked up, I stopped doing anything with music.

It wasn’t a passion for me the way it was for him.

“Yeah, the alternative chorus you came up with is raw. It fits the song perfectly, and your vocals are on point, too. I don’t know why you don’t stop playing and get in the studio,” Keynauri pressed.

“Hell naw. I’m already wearing fifty different hats. I don’t care about the music shit enough to dedicate myself to it. I got you whenever you need help, though. You have raw talent, and these changes are only gonna help take your album to another level.”

“You think so?”

“I know so. You can feel the emotions in each song, and your fans are gonna feel them too. Even the gritty shit is a hit. They’re gonna be playing your album on repeat. You’ve got something for everybody on here.”

“Thank you, bro. I appreciate you, real shit.”

“What y’all bitch asses in here talking about? It sounds like I need to bring in some Kleenex or something. Do I need to bring some tampons in this mothafucka?” Logic shouted as he stepped into the studio holding a bottle of Hennessy in his hand.

“Don’t come in here with all that bullshit. What’s up, bro?” Keyz got up to greet bro, and I followed suit.

“My bad for being late. These hoes be running me ragged. I’m ready to change my fucking number on these bitches,” Logic grumbled, taking a seat in one of the empty chairs.

“What the fuck do you have going on? I saw a picture of yo’ ass this morning, but I didn’t even have time to see what was going on.” I chuckled, thinking about my homie getting caught up in his bullshit.

“Man, I cussed that bitch out so bad this morning. Valor’s thirsty ass got into it with Janiyah, Shalese, and Heiress.

Little mama is losing her fuckin’ marbles, and I’m about to cut her all the way off.

She and Janiyah used to be cool, and I guess she felt some type of way about us fucking around.

She made a post about bitches being desperate, and she and Valor started arguing in the comments.

The next thing I know, Valor posted an off-guard of me in her bed.

“I can’t stand a bitch who can’t keep it cool.

She knew what it was when we started fucking around, so I’m not sure why she’s trying so hard to make a place for herself in my life.

Bitch has a whole son she doesn’t even have custody of, but she wants to be my main bitch.

The hoe needs to be the main bitch at the elementary school picking up her son.

Trifling bitch.” Logic sparked the blunt, then took a pull.

“Honestly, it’s your fault. Your program gotta be strict, or the bitches are gonna try to see how far they can go.

Being mean only makes them want you more because every woman thinks her pussy is enough to change a man.

Bianca and Zenia used to do the same thing, and then I cut them both off.

They were begging to get back in my good graces, and once I set the ground rules, I never had an issue with them.

Well, until recently, but that’s a story for another day. ”

Lyric was adamant about not telling her brother about us, but I wasn’t cool with it. I was too real of a nigga to hide shit from a soul. At the end of the day, there was nothing he could do about us being together. She begged me for more time, but her time was winding down.

“Man, fuck all of that. I’m about to do a clean house and replace all of them.”

“And y’all wonder why I’ve been curving these hoes. I don’t have time for drama. It doesn’t matter if you lay your cards out on the table; you could still end up in some bullshit,” Keynauri vented.

“I know the bitches have been blowing you up since you touched down,” I replied.

“Hell yeah. It was cool at first, but it got old fast. My mind is on the money, and I refuse to let anything distract me. I’ll get my dick wet every now and then, but outside of that, I don’t have any play for a bitch. I have enough drama with my baby mama. I’m not adding shit else to my plate.”

Keynauri’s baby mama had been giving him hell since he got released.

I never understood how a woman could keep a man away from his child out of spite.

I loved Lyric to death, but she knew better than to play with her life or my little girl.

Even if we decided to go our separate ways, nothing would ever keep me away from my daughter.

“You ain’t wrong. I saw her crashing out online the other day.

She wants everybody to believe you’re a deadbeat, as if you haven’t been providing for her and Keyami while being locked up.

I don’t put my hands on women, but I would beat a bitch’s ass for trying to interfere with my relationship with my child. ” Logic scoffed.

“Hell yeah. I don’t play like that at all.

Tiana doesn’t even realize how good she’s got it, because most niggas won’t even fight for their kids.

You’ve been there since the beginning and haven’t dropped the ball yet.

There are plenty of women who would love to have a baby daddy like you, but she’s allowing her personal feelings to cloud her judgment.

The only person who will end up hurt is baby girl, and that’s fucked up,” I expressed.

“Naw, I’m not even going to keep allowing her to play with me.

I already have a lawyer, so if she doesn’t get her mind right, we’ll be standing before a judge.

I refuse to allow my daughter to grow up without me or to believe she isn’t my priority.

My daughter won’t be used as a pawn in her childish games, especially when she’s been fucking the whole city since I’ve been gone.

I never pressed her about what she was doing, because she was single and grown.

All I asked was for her to make sure our child was kept separate from all of that shit.

Now she’s acting as if I broke our family up when we weren’t a family to begin with.

Shit is crazy.” Keynauri dropped his head, letting me know the shit was getting to him mentally.

I understood where he was coming from because I would be sick if I couldn’t see my baby girl. Keynauri loved his daughter with his soul, and what he was going through wasn’t fair.

Talking about children made me want to check on mine.

Lyric and I had been arguing more than usual since Keynauri had come home.

I was still pressing the issue of telling him the truth, but she had every excuse for why we had to keep shit a secret.

My breaking point was when she invited him over to the house and begged me to leave my own shit.

In the beginning, I understood why she was hesitant, but once things started to become deep between us, I stopped caring. Nauri was my boy and all, but his approval wouldn’t change shit for me. Lyric and Noodle were mine, and I didn’t give a fuck what anyone thought about it. Fuck ’em.

Me: What is my baby doing?

My Lola B: I just finished throwing up.

My Lola B: And I’m about to take a shower, bust a nut, and take a nap.

I stared at the screen, trying to make sure I wasn’t tripping.

Me: Yo. WTF?

My Lola B: Oh, I thought you wanted to know what I was doing.

Me: I was asking about my daughter, but I definitely have questions.

My Lola B: Her Studtie came and took her to the park.

Me: Alright, bet.

Me: What’s wrong with you tho? Tf is you throwing up for?

Lyric hardly ever got sick, and I was worried because whenever she or Noodle got sick, they took the whole house down. I couldn’t afford to get sick right now.

My Lola B: You’re gonna be mad at me.

Her response caught me off guard because I wasn’t sure what she meant.

Me: Why would I be mad?

My Lola B: Are you coming home soon?

Me: I wasn’t planning on it. Why, what’s up?

My Lola B: I’ll talk to you when you get home. I still feel like shit, and I’m horny.

Me: Umm, okay. I’ll see you once I finish up here.

Me: Let me know if you need me to stop somewhere and get you some medicine.

My Lola B: The only things I want right now are shrimp eggrolls and dick. If you aren’t bringing either of those, I don’t need anything.

Me: Yo. Wtf is wrong with you??

After a while, I realized Lyric had stopped replying, so I tucked my phone back into my pocket.

We were kicking it, so I hadn’t planned to return home any time soon.

Since I knew she wasn’t in any immediate pain or danger, I decided to wait until I got home to see what was going on with her.

’Cause shorty was bugging, and I was lost as hell.

“This is just what a nigga needed.” Logic smacked the stripper’s ass as she bent over and touched her toes.

My plan was to go home after we finished in the studio, but when Keynauri suggested we hit up the strip club, I couldn’t give him a valid excuse as to why I couldn’t go.

Logic smirked when he noticed my internal battle because he knew the truth, and he used the shit against me by egging Keynauri on.

Reluctantly, I agreed to go, but I would rather have been home.

“Damn, I can’t tell whether this shit is real or fake, but it’s moving like water.”

Logic continued to fondle the dancer as she whined her hips in his lap.

We weren’t supposed to touch the dancers, but this was one of those clubs that never truly played by the rules.

There were a few girls who sold pussy inside the club, and the boss turned a blind eye.

As long as the money was flowing, people would overlook anything.

“You’re the only man I know who frowns while he’s in the club.”
