Chapter 18 Blakely
Blakely
Everyone came around and hugged me, offering their congratulations.
I find myself in disbelief, listening to the chatter of excitement all around me.
I can’t keep my eyes off my ring. A halo engagement ring.
The way the small diamonds circle the larger center stone catches the light, making it sparkle with every tiny movement of my finger.
The band has even more diamonds running down both sides.
I’m engaged.
The words echo in my mind, almost too surreal to believe.
I wasn’t expecting this at all. I had walked into what I thought would be just another regular birthday party, surrounded by friends and family.
I assumed the biggest surprise of the night would be watching Amari enjoy opening her presents and eating her cake.
But he completely took me by surprise, and judging by the stunned expressions on everyone else’s faces, I wasn’t the only one caught off guard.
The memory of it all is still fresh, replaying in my mind like an unexpected dream. It’s always been a dream of mine to get married and have the wedding of my dreams. So why does a tug of emotions play with my heartstrings?
I look at my surroundings, trying to find the one person I know is going to be the most surprised—and hurt.
He is nowhere in sight.
Why is he the one person on my mind right now?
