117. Raengar
Raengar ignored the gasps and the outraged shouts as he made his way to where he knew the Council of Houses held their meetings.
The guards knew better than to interfere and did nothing besides stare at him in shock as he burst through the doors.
House of Alloy was on probation until after King M??r ’s trial was over, so only eleven of the twelve kings and queens that made up the Council of Houses looked up at him from where they sat.
The King of Water stood up, spluttering, as he looked horrified at the frozen, mangled head dangling from Raengar’s fingertips. “What in the hell is going on?”
Isolde stood from where she sat as Raengar slammed the head of the Minotaur on the table and set the scroll with the test results from Luxamal next to it. Isolde looked smug and triumphant as she turned to face the King of Water. “Your Grace, that is the head of a minotaur. A Pit monster recovered from Pit Island. You asked us for proof that the creatures live. Here is your proof.”
Raengar held up the paper with the results, and the history of purchase. “This is the University of Luxamal’s report on the samples of Jia Frostguard and Rorax Greywood’s blood. The Heilstorm mission that was betrayed; the mission that was ordered, approved, and prepared by this Council was betrayed. It shows proof that the blocker used in their attack was ordered by King M??r.”
The Weather King whooshed out a breath of relief. “Thank the gods.”
“This is enough proof to convict King M??r of treason,” King Tulek of Fire said, rubbing his hand over his jaw thoughtfully.
“More than enough. Statements and witnesses have signed their names below and all are willing to testify,” Raengar said, standing straighter.
“And the Pits?”
“At least one has been opened. Go home and prepare your armies. We are going to war.”
