Chapter 6 #2

felt fell into a deep sleep. She felt someone picking her up and

the bed welcomed her.

Bindi woke up starving and hot. Food

needed to come first, and she got up and headed to the kitchen.

Thank the goddess the fridge was full of food. She found leftover

pizza and heated it up then wiped it out. It wasn’t enough. She

checked the fridge again and this time dug out a steak dinner.

Maybe this was intended for her? After heating it, she ate it too.

That was enough to make her worry about her other need.

Bindi got a drink and sipped on it as

she searched for Duroc finally finding him outside taking talking

to Tyne. “I’ll let you go, man. Looks like you’ll be busy.” Tyne

observed with a smile.

“Thanks. I’d best go.”

Duroc saw her headed his way and turned to walk to her.

He cut her off and herded her back to

the house. When they entered the bedroom, he urged her to undress

quickly. Bindi figured he wanted some clothes left. They managed to

save what they were wearing. She pulled him down on the bed and

began to ravage him. Since she’d pulled him on top of her, he got

busy and joined them.

Her need perfumed the air and she urged

him to move. That was what he did, and he moved fast because her

desire was urgent. Her body was hot and his was getting hot too.

Sweat dripped off him as he pounded into his mate as she moved

toward him to aid his moves. Their skin slid as they moved together

both working toward their ultimate climax. It hit

unexpectedly.

Both of them ended up asleep. The cycle

continued for two more days. Her heat had been intense but had

ended in a briefer time than others had. “I think I’m

done.”

“That’s a

blessing.”

“More than you can handle.

Sweetheart?” Bindi teased.

“I think I handled you just

fine.”

“I want to get back to work

tomorrow.”

“That will be one day

before you’re usual day off. Maybe you should take one more day.

The newbies are doing fine.”

“Are you wanting more

personal time?”

“Maybe a little.” Duroc

admitted.

“Okay. If, you’re

sure.”

“I’ll let them know we’ll

be back Monday. Except for being on call.”

“I’m hungry.”

“There’s plenty to fix in

the fridge.”

Bindi looked and she thought he’d

gotten more food. Pulling out several items of food, she heated up

those things that required it and set the table. She got them each

a drink then sat and waited for Duroc. It wasn’t long before he

came out.

“This is nice. Let’s sit

down and eat. Can we also talk a little. I’d like to know more

about you.”

“Me? I’m no one special.”

Bindi answered.

“Yes, you are. You’re my

mate. Obviously, you’re part wolf. Where did that come

from.”

“I believe my father was a

wolf. My mother died when I was young, and I don’t even know her

name.”

Duroc looked upset.

“I’m sorry you got such an

unimportant mate.”

“I’m not angry at you. It’s

the fact that they didn’t even tell you about your mother. Who

raised you?” Duroc asked.

“The pack my father was

from.”

“Which was?”

“The north Oregon Pack.”

Bindi replied.

He’d heard rumors about them, but the

way things were done, you didn’t mess with other packs especially

if you didn’t have proof. His dad had reported things to the

wardens, but they’d done nothing, so they just hoped the rumors

weren’t true. Things were changing, but they just hadn’t changed at

a fast pace. Maybe Damon would be sent in, and he could tear that

pack apart.

“I’m sorry.”

“You know about them? Why

didn’t anything get done?”

“My dad called the wardens.

They came in and then left. We had no grounds to interfere.” Duroc

admitted.

“Politics allows misery.”

Bindi accused.

She looked at him to see what he’s

going to say. There’s nothing because she knows she’s right.

Politics often protects those that do harm to others. If you have

power, you can get away with anything, as long as you have the

strength to hold your position. Everyone knew the story of Hemple.

More than a lifetime of corrupt rule of his pack and evil deeds so

many they couldn’t be numbered before and when he fell, it wasn’t

to the council or the wardens. It was to a mate seeking retribution

for an evil deed he finally had to pay for.

The white wolf’s oldest son had risked

his life and Hemple had cheated by having another wolf jump in to

try to aid him, but the white wolf had the goddess on his side, and

he had come out on top. This story had quickly become a legend. But

it hadn’t stopped the old evil alphas from continuing. Bindi did

think it might help a new alpha stay on the right path.

“Things are changing. Rules

are in place to protect pack members.”

“It was never considered

alright to abuse your pack, but it still happened. When I was just

sixteen, I was thrown out with just the clothes I had on. Ariel

tells me that is not allowed, has never been allowed. But it

happened. They would say it made me stronger, but only because it

didn’t kill me. Easily I could have died.”

“You’re right.” Duroc said

with a heavy sigh afterward.

“Life as a wolf can be hard

but it’s not as bad with a good pack to back you up. That’s the way

of life for a wolf, but what if your alpha is greedy and

uncaring?”

“I’m not sure. The call to

love your pack and every member should be strong in an alpha but

sometimes, it seems things go wrong. There are good alphas, bad

alphas, but most are somewhere in the middle. They do their best,

but the mantle weighs heavily on them and they have a hard time

keeping up with what is required of them. In their haste to give an

alpha every chance in case they make mistakes in their struggle to

do their best, many bad ones slip through unpunished.”

“You sound as if you’ve

trained to be the alpha.” Bindi observed suspiciously.

“A smart alpha trains all

his sons. Not so much in case the oldest perishes, but so he and

his heir has someone to rely on when needed. Some even train their

daughters.”

“Few I would

guess.”

“There was a time when

doing it or even admitting that it was smart would have your pack

rebel.” Duroc pointed out. “It’s not just the alphas that can be

bad. Sometimes the members of the pack are so heavily indoctrinated

with the way their alpha thought things should be, they resist

change.”

“I’ve heard that was true

on a portion of Hemple’s pack. They gave Danny a hard time after he

defeated Hemple.” Bindi observed.

“You’ve brought attention

to your old pack that the alpha isn’t totoo happy about. I believe

he will be dealt with soon. Once he’s gone, we’ll find out about

your mother and maybe some member of your father’s family is good,

and you’ll know about them too.”

“It’s true I’d like to know

about my mother and her family. Not knowing about her and her

family and not having a relationship with him or his family has

made me feel alone in the world.”

“You are not alone, not

anymore. You have me and you have many friends that care about

you.”

“I know and things are

better. Maybe even better than they ever would have been there. But

I still feel a sense of loss for all those years I had

nothing.”

“That’s normal.” Duroc

offered.

“Will it ever go

away?”

“Maybe not completely, but

someday when our life is settled and you are happy, it won’t seem

to matter as much.”

Bindi shot him a smile. “You’re just

guessing and trying to make me feel better.”

“Is it working?”

“Maybe a little.” Bindi

admitted.

“I needed to tell you my

father wants to meet you. He’d like us to visit as soon as all this

settles a bit.”

“What’s he

like?”

“He’s a good alpha. I’m his

second son of five. No daughters and our mom doesn’t think they’ll

have any more but it’s possible. It’s rare to have so many pups

among wolves. Some of the old families that mate outside the usual

circles manage it.”

“Why mate outside of the

usual circles?”

“Some lines suffer from

inbreeding. Hemple’s parents were cousins. He had some serious

problems.”

“Is that why the council

has finally gotten involved? Because these sick alphas suffer from

heavy inbreeding, and it can make them crazy?” Bindi

asked.

“I don’t know. My hope

would be that they finally were forced to see the problem it truly

is and are taking action.”

They stopped talking to finish their

meal, then sat sipping their drinks. “I’ll clean up.” Bindi

offered.

“I’ll help.”

They both began to clear the table then

Bindi rinsed the plates and loaded the dishwasher. It had not been

empty to begin with and now it was full so she added a pod then

turned it on. Duroc had wiped off the table and now sat their

looking at her.

“What do you want from

me?”

“I just love to watch you.”

Duroc admitted.

“There are lots of other

things you could be doing.”

“But none that give me as

much pleasure.”

“Tomorrow, we go back to

work?” Bindi asked.

“If you want to. But

remember the trip to my dad’s. It will take a week.”

“Are you wanting to do that

now?”

“If you are willing to do

so.” Duroc admitted.

“You want to leave in the

morning?”

“That would be

good.”

“It’s not quite noon. I

need to go see Ariel to get ready if you’re sure?” Bindi

informed.

“Okay. You want me to take

you?”

“It’s not far, I’ll be

fine.”

She went out to his truck and took it

to Ariel’s. She was greeted at the door. “I was expecting you

sooner. We need to go now. Follow me.”

Bindi did as she was told and got into

Ariel’s SUV in the back seat. A driver and a bodyguard sat up

front. “Where are we going?’

“We’ll get your hair done

first. Tina usually does that.”

“How far is the salon?”

Bindi asked.

“We’re here.”

They got out and went in the salon.

“So, who is this, Ariel?”

“This is Bindi.”

“Come sit in the chair,

Bindi. Do you want me to figure out what’s best?” Tina

asked.

“She’s good at it.” Ariel

observed.

“Okay.”

Tina looked excited. “What is the

occasion?”

“She’s meeting her new in

laws.”

“That’s important. We’ll

wash it first then get on the cut.”

It didn’t take long, and Tina was

leading her back out front.
