Chapter 6

The seeds of regret from what I did moments ago start to wane on me like a ton of bricks.

Was his confession genuine? Was it all true?

Will he regret them in the morning? Should I even stay?

Looking at the clock on his nightstand it reads 1:40 AM and I'm alarmed at how long I stayed here.

I decided to leave for his benefit. Knowing that he is asleep I make small movements to move from the bed so I wouldn't disturb him.

After slowly getting dressed, I look back at Xander and notice how all the worries on his face are gone as he sleeps.

I really wish I could stay in bed with him but I need to decide if I want answers or if I want to ignore them.

My feet make the decision by leaving his room.

I grab my phone from the charger and my coat along with my bag.

I'm thankful that I remember there was a lobby button on the elevator.

When I reach the lobby I look for an Uber and I'm glad to know that it's only 2 minutes away. As soon as I'm on my way home my mind drifts to Xander.

When I finally reach my apartment I go straight to my room and take a quick shower as a way to cleanse myself from the guilt I have.

After my shower, I take off the remainder of my makeup and change into a loose shirt and some pajama bottoms.

As I get to bed I notice it's 3 in the morning and I let sleep take over despite my restless mind over what I did hours ago.

The next morning or early afternoon I decide to get up and eat something for my small headache.

If I remember correctly I didn't drink a lot last night.

As I walk into the kitchen I make myself some coffee and a breakfast sandwich since it's going to be 12 soon.

Regardless of what time of the day it is, I have to have coffee to function.

While I sit at the counter I feel my headache subside for the moment and I hear the door to Trina's room open.

"Someone had a long night." She says teasingly. I give her a weak smile and notice that Trina is dressed for the day. She is wearing cropped jeans and a loose fitted blouse. Her hair is let loose and she is wearing light makeup.

"Something like that." She makes her way to sit next to me.

"Well give me the details because I noticed you didn't come home till 2," She says picking at my food. Which I don't mind.

I debate telling her everything that happened to me last night but subconsciously I allow myself to tell her. After all, Trina is my best friend and she will tell me her true thoughts on the situation just as I would for her.

"Okay but it's a long one," I say. After a breath or two later I tell her everything that happened last night. Her reactions are what I expected shocked and surprised when I told her I had slept with Xander. After I'm done telling her everything I'm out of breath and reach for my mug.

"So what do I do now? I'm nervous to mention it to him about his confession? If he does what do I say?" I finally ask after sipping my lukewarm coffee.

"Wow, you had quite an interesting night," She says and continues, "Well for one I wouldn't be the first one to bring it up if I were you I would wait till he explains himself."

"Why would I do that instead?" I ask.

"If he truly means what he confessed to you last night then he would care for you enough to explain. Also, drunk or not, you were right to not stay at his place because if it were me I would want him to tell me to stay from the beginning." Trina says reassuring me.

"Okay. But I hate that I have to wait till Monday to see him. You know I really hate confrontation especially during a busy week." I complain.

"Well, I bet you he's probably trying to reach you to talk," Trina says acting like it's a possibility.

"If he does, then what do I do? God, I still can't believe I slept with him!" I say placing my head in my hands.

"Yeah me either," She smiles, "but if he is calling you don't answer trust me it's better for him to explain face to face."

She suggests. Maybe she's right I should just let him explain himself in person without any distractions.

I just hope the weekend will help me build the courage to hear his explanation and answer my list of questions.

"You're right I should do that." I finally say.

"Well, I usually am." She says flipping her hair to one side and I giggle at the silly gesture.

"So enough with the serious stuff can I at least hear how the sex was?" She asks with a grin.

I laugh "Yeah right." I say while I get up from the counter stool and take my empty dishes to the sink.

"Oh come on! You know I'm going to keep bugging you till you crack so just spill." Trina says with a pout. Trina is always the one to state the obvious. I guess that's how she knows me too well.

"Okay! Fine! It was...," I try to rack my brain to find the right words to describe it.

"It was?" Trina asks while sitting at the edge of her seat.

"I can't find words to describe it. I guess it was indescribable but in a good way," I say trying to explain to her.

"So it was good?" She asks looking confused.

"It was better than good it felt like there was a lot of passion between us than just lust," I say while now rinsing my dishes.

"Wow! Who would have thought you would be in bed with a billionaire who happens to be your boss. I'm sorry I just can't believe it! Well hey since your weekend is free let's go shopping in Union?

I'm dying for some clothes and I have an upcoming conference trip with my company so you know I have to look killer for that." Trina says.

"Okay! I might need to get a couple of things anyway so let's leave in an hour? I still feel like a mess." I say gesturing at my appearance.

"Well you are a hot mess," She winks, "but sure let's do that, besides I still need to eat." She declares.

"Okay," I say and I continue on toward my room to get ready.

I decide to wear some jeans and a t-shirt.

Knowing Trina well enough that she would want to spend most of the day shopping, I decided to wear my most comfortable slip-on shoes.

I walk towards my phone on the nightstand and see that Trina was right about Xander trying to reach me.

I notice that I have 9 missed calls and several text messages.

I decided to clear my phone and turn it off.

I know if I keep my phone on I'll be tempted to talk to him.

After turning it off I leave my phone on my nightstand and walk out of my room to meet Trina by the entryway.

"Ready?" Trina asks while putting on her sneakers.

"As always," I say after grabbing my jacket and purse off the coat rack.

Shopping near Union Square is fun and all but there is a lot of walking which always tires me out.

Especially today, after going through 5 stores and trying stuff on I vote that we take a break at a cafe in the plaza.

I order a hot chocolate and croissant while Trina orders the same thing.

We then decide to sit down in the cafe while we rest up for the next round of shopping.

"I can't believe you're not tired after going through 5 stores," I say while sipping my hot chocolate.

"I can't believe you're not. Also, I still need to find a dress for the conference as well as a dress after the conference meeting." She states.

"You need two dresses?" I ask while taking a bite into my pastry.

"Yeah, one for the meeting and one for the dinner the organizers are putting together." She explains.

"Oh okay, I'm sure we'll find your dresses," I say being optimistic for her.

"I hope so." She says. While we continue to talk we soon finish our snacks and being completely rested we move on to the next round of stores near Post St.

Once we get to Post St we head into Saks and immediately we start our search for the dresses.

While she is trying on a dozen dresses I find a long silk dress with a slit at the front.

I immediately want to buy it but the price tag for it makes me second guess my decision.

I go back to the dressing room and find that Trina has made her decision.

She ends up getting a black bishop sleeve top with a pleated skirt for the conference and a fitted long sleeve velvet green dress for the dinner event.

After the sales associate that is helping her check out Trina, we move towards Geary St to go to another department store.

I soon find myself buying two new work dresses, some blouses, and pants.

After my purchases, we head towards our last two stores.

Trina went out of her way to buy a couple of new outfits while I bought some new underwear and bras.

When we get to our final store the sun is setting and we decide to head back to the apartment.

When we get back to the apartment the sun has already set and I start to feel hungrier than usual.

"Hey want to order in some food?" I ask turning towards Trina who is in the living room.

"Sure! I was about to ask the same thing. I'll leave my money on the counter while I put my stuff away."

She says grabbing her shopping bags. I head towards my room and grab my phone to turn it back on.

Sure enough, I see more missed calls and text messages from Xander.

I sigh and begin the task of clearing my notifications.

Once that's done I then call for the pizza to get my order in.

When the order is put in I begin placing my things in my closet.

I honestly can't believe how persistent Xander is despite me ignoring him altogether.

I knew this was going to be a long weekend despite Trina's effort for a distraction.

If this continues to go on I'm going to need to find a better way to ignore him.
