Chapter 33
Thirty-Three
Jaclyn
No-Doze Diner is buzzing with customers. I almost feel lucky that I didn’t work today.
I bet the servers are getting good money. Andy is back from vacation and she is serving our table. Lisa is serving today to help out along with the new server I trained, Christy.
Natalia, Chris, and Max are sitting across from Hayden, me, and Kayden at our regular table.
Kayden is on his phone, Max and Natalia are arguing about how she thinks fruit doesn’t belong on pizza while Max is just flicking her forehead while calling her stupid. Chris is watching them argue.
Hayden has his arm wrapped around me as I try not to break out in goosebumps and lean into him. His other hand is playing with the ends of my hair as he pays attention to Max and Natalia’s argument.
Things between him and I have been different.
We still bicker and argue, calling each other names but he smirks at me or has an amused smile on his face whenever we argue. He'll touch my hand or my thigh whenever I’m near him. He'll whisper dirty things in my ear, making me blush. He kisses me every once in a while.
I tell him to stop but my body easily melts into him and gives in.
I still don’t like him.
Or at least I keep telling myself that.
“Bitch, you think I’ll listen to your opinion?” Max says while raising an eyebrow at her, making me laugh.
“At least I have half a brain. You will eat anything so why am I even having this discussion with you?” Natalia folds her arms over her chest and looks at me. “Can you believe this hooligan, Jaclyn? I’m sorry I brought you into this.”
“At least he’s funny.” I laugh while watching the two of them.
Chris is looking at Natalia like he is enchanted by her.
I feel a warm hand slip onto my thigh making me turn my head to Hayden. He knows how easily I’m affected by his touch because when he does this he always waits for a reaction from me while giving me a teasing smile.
It’s infatuating .
I can feel blush spread to my cheeks as he runs a single finger up and down my thigh teasingly.
“Stop.”
Hayden's lips form into that amused smile and his hand that was touching my thigh goes to my cheek. He touches my cheeks as if he’s amazed with how my cheeks are rose red. Butterflies swarm in my stomach.
I wish I could stop them because liking Hayden Night is the last thing I should be focused on.
“Jaclyn.” I turn my head, Hayden’s hand still lingering on my cheek.
I smile at Lucas. “Hey.” I pinch Hayden’s arm, making him drop his hand from my face.
I haven’t seen or talked to Lucas since our date and that’s mainly because I have been acting dry on text messages which made him stop messaging me so much. He doesn’t come to the diner so I haven’t had the chance to talk to him much.
I don’t like conflict and I always try my best to avoid it and I know I am the one in the wrong in the situation and I feel guilty.
Lucas gives me a small smile. “I was hoping we could talk. Sorry I haven’t texted you in a while, I’ve been busy with school.” Lucas’s eyes go to Hayden sitting next to me.
“It’s fine. I’ve been busy with school, too.” I try to get up but Hayden doesn’t move from his spot in front of me. I look up at Lucas. “I’ll meet you out there.” Lucas nods his head before leaving our table. I look at Hayden while feeling everyone at the table staring at the two of us. “Are you going to move?”
“You’re seriously going to go out with that guy?”
I furrow my eyebrows at him.
What the hell is his problem?
“No and even if I did want to go out with him, I don’t think it would be any of your business. Move.”
Hayden scoots out of the booth so that I can get out. I don’t look back at him even though I feel holes burning in my back from how hard he is staring at me.
I get out of the diner and see Lucas leaning against the wall of the diner.
“Hey,” he says, smiling when he sees me.
“Hey. So what’s up? How have you been?” I ask, walking up to him.
“Good. Like I said, I’ve been busy,” he says, shrugging his shoulders. “So what I got from your dry responses is that you’re not interested?” Lucas raises an eyebrow at me.
I wince, feeling guilty all over again. “I’m sorry. I would still love to be friends. Only if you’re okay with that?”
Lucas nods his head, still smiling softly. “Yea of course.” He leans off the wall and walks a step closer to me. “Just tell me, is it because of Hayden?”
I lick my bottom lip, not knowing how to answer that because I can’t even answer that question for myself.
I don’t want to think of Hayden as anything. All I know is that he is someone who just won’t leave my head no matter how much I try to erase him.
Hayden creeps in my head like how a dream slowly creeps into a nightmare.
“I don’t know. I wish I could be honest and tell you the truth but I don’t even know the truth myself.”
Lucas nods his head lightly again. “I see.” I see his jaw ticking but other than that he doesn’t show anything else that shows he's mad or annoyed. “Well I hope you find what you’re looking for with him.” Lucas takes another step closer to me, this time way closer than I’m comfortable with but I don’t say anything. “Just be careful with him.” Lucas rests his hand on my shoulder. “He isn’t a good guy. He’s dangerous.”
I don’t say anything to that because what do I say?
I know in my heart that I will keep letting Hayden kiss me and touch me because for once in my life I feel seen and noticed. Hayden touches me like he truly sees me and that’s one of the best feelings in the world. I don’t wanna lose this feeling with him and it always makes me feel needy with how much I want him to stay or how much I want this thing to work out between us.
Lucas nods his head once more before letting go of me and walking away towards the parking lot .
I close my eyes and lean my head back.
Why does everything have to be so hard for me?
Hands grip my waist and I am suddenly against a wall. I open my eyes, a squeal comes out of my mouth when I see Hayden right in front of me. His hips are pressed against mine and his hands are griping my waist.
“What happened?”
I try to get his hands off me and push at his chest but he doesn’t budge. “Why does it matter to you? Last time I checked, my life isn’t any of your business.”
Hayden raises an eyebrow. “Really? Wanna bet?”
Before I can argue with him he smashes his lips onto mine aggressively.
Hayden doesn’t just kiss me, he devours me fully. He shows me I’m his in every way possible. He is possessive to a fault, I can tell with his kisses and grabs.
I can’t help but wonder how he fucks.
Especially when his lips lap mine, making me shudder against him. By the way I melt into him, it’s impossible to deny that he doesn’t affect me.
He is the only one who has ever made me feel like this.
Needy, desperate and so fucking high.
He brings one hand to my throat to hold and kisses me with passion and so much lust that I get dizzy. I kiss him back slowly and just as passionately, trying to keep up with his rough and demanding kisses .
His licks and bites and grunts, sending butterflies down my body and in between my thighs.
I don’t know why but hearing him groan or grunt makes me feel all tingly and excited.
I whimper when he removes his lips from mine. “Anyone who touches you, and I mean anyone, will pay. You’re mine and that means only I get to touch you. Got it? Good.”
Hayden presses another possessive kiss on my lips, squeezing my throat lightly before letting me go and wrapping an arm around my waist.
I’m glad he did that because I feel like I’m going to faint.
