Chapter 4
Four
Ispend a couple of hours with Maverick telling him how it all worked. He knows about crypto. He told Prez that is where he had invested some of the club money and made bank with it.
”So, we need to look at how we can get back at them, Lyssa,” Maverick says,
”I don”t know, Maverick. I”m scared to piss them off even more than I have already.” He puts his hand on my shoulder, don”t worry about that. You are safe here. We won”t let you out of our sight until it”s over. Promise. I don”t think Spider or Tank would let anything happen to you, you mean too much to them both.”
Wow, he thinks that Tank cares that much about me. Interesting. I have to say it was good to wake up wrapped in his arms this morning. I enjoyed it a little too much.
When it”s lunchtime, Maverick says, ”Come on let”s get some fresh air and some food. We need to brainstorm with my brothers to find out what they want to happen.”
”They don”t understand crypto trading though.”
”I know, but they understand revenge so between me, you and the rest of my brothers, we will work out the best way to get them back.”
We go into the kitchen and there”s some food on the side for anyone to help themselves to. The club girls and the old ladies make the food. It”s delicious and I”m sitting at one of the tables when the brothers come in. Spider grabs some food and sits next to me. I wait for everyone to come in and I don’t” see Tank.
”Where”s Tank?”
”He went out for a ride to clear his head. Tank likes to spend time on his own. He processes things much better that way. He”ll be back soon,”
We eat in silence for a while. ”How did you get on with Mav?”
”Good, he wants to meet you guys too so that we can work out what our next move is.”
”Great, Prez will organize that. Now how are you feeling? I”m angry at you, but I”m more angry at myself. I should have checked on you more often. We should have been seeing each other much more than we were.” He pulls me into his side and then kisses me on my head. ”I love you, Lyssa. If last night had been different, I don”t know what I would have done. I can”t lose you. You”re my family.”
”You have this family too, Brady.”
”Yeah, I know and I love them all, but you are my blood and I should be protecting you and I apologize for that.”
”I think we are both to blame for not seeing each other. I was so happy to be making money. I was going to treat you and show you that I have been fine. But that didn”t work out did it?”
He kisses me again and pulls me in tighter. ”I”m not going to take you for granted again, Lyssa. I need to take my responsibility seriously. We only have the two of us and I didn”t protect you. I”m sorry.”
”Get away, it”s not your fault I believed a man who it looked like I was making money from. Anyway, now we just need to get revenge and we can both get on with our lives.” I smile at him to let him know that I am okay.
”Absolutely.” Spider gets up and walks over to Prez, talking to him quietly. Prez looks at me and then nods his head.
Brady comes back. ”Prez is going to get Winnie to take you to grab some clothes. The old ladies love a shopping trip. There will be at least one brother and a prospect with you though.”
”Thanks, Brady.”
”No problem, Lys.”
He leaves the kitchen and I help the ladies to tidy the room. ”Thanks for doing this, Winne.” I look at her, she”s so friendly.
”It”s not a problem. Who doesn”t enjoy a shopping trip?”
”I don”t have any money though, I”ll have to ask Brady for some.”
Winnies takes my two hands in hers. ”Lyssa, don”t you worry about that. Spider and Tank have already given us money and Prez says it can come out of the church fund.”
”Church fund?”
Winnie laughs. ”I”ll explain about church later on.” She grabs my hand and leads me out of the kitchen so that we can find the other old ladies and see who wants to come on a shopping trip.
As you can imaginethey all want to go, but in the end there”s me, Winnie, Aurora and Nova. Plus Phoenix and Chance. They decided against the prospect as there are four of us and so they want to make sure we are protected if needs be.
Sitting in the truck with the others I love their camaraderie. There is a lot of banter and it’s so nice to see after the few days that I”ve had.
”Hey, Lyssa, what was Spider like when he was younger. He”s always so uptight and serious. Was he always like that?” Winnie asks, smiling at the others.
”No, not at all. He was always so much fun to be around and I loved being around his friends in particular. They were all so good looking.” The girls laugh. ”Especially Tank.” I blush, I shouldn”t have said that.
”Ah, so we were right, Nova, we did see a spark.” Aurora says, nudging Nova in the arm.
”No, that”s not what I meant. He was always fun when he was around. We had a pool back then and Brady and his friends would be out messing around in the pool, drinking beer when our parents went to bed. I used to sneak out and watch them. Oh God, that makes me sound like a pervert.” I laugh.
Nova smiles. ”I think I would have done the same. So, erm,” she clears her throat. ”Did you and Tank ever get together?”
”No way. Brady wouldn”t let any of his friends near me and sure I was younger than them and they thought I was an annoying little girl.”
”Well, no one can say that now, you are sure a fine woman,” Chance says, laughing.
”Why thank you, sir.” I laugh with him.
It”s so easy being around these people, why didn”t I come over more often? Oh yeah, Brady didn”t want me to, he said I was too much of a temptation. I think he”s wrong there, I think I would have been very tempted.
”I saw Tank coming out of your room this morning, I thought Spider stayed with you,” Aurora asks. The other girls turn to her and screw up their faces like they didn”t want to ask me that. She laughs, ”Well y”all are thinking it.”
We all laugh. This trip is going to be so much fun.
”He took over during the night to give Brady a break.”
The truck stops then and we all get out and move as one into the nearest clothes store. Looking around I pick out a few things to try on and they look so great I want to buy them. But I don”t have any money so I put some back. Winnie catches me. ”Spider, Tank and Prez gave us money, remember. Pick those up.” She hands them to me and places a few more items on top. She pulls off the top item of clothing. It”s a little dress. ”I think Tank won”t be able to resist you in this number.”
”I think Spider will lose his shit if she wears that,” Nova laughs.
”I can”t wear that!” The thought of being exposed in a room full of bikers doesn”t sound like fun.
”Take it anyway, you never know you might get to use it at some stage.” Winnie moves over to the cash register and she pays for everything. I needed new everything, all of my stuff that I had left is in the apartment that was getting repossessed today. I had nothing of value in there and I need to move on from that life. The only thing in my way now is the mafia and hopefully the Rebel Hearts MC can help me with that. If not, then I”m better off dead, because I know they will come looking for me at some stage.
When we get back to the clubhouse, we have bags of shopping and the girls help me bring them up to the room that someone has cleaned for me. I guess this is going to be home for a while. ”I”ll unpack and put everything away. Thanks girls for helping me. I really appreciate it.
Winnie hugs me and says, ”Tonight we are having family night and you”re coming.”
”What”s family night?”
”It”s where the brothers and their old ladies have a night of drinking, dancing and no club girls are allowed. It”s always fun and we like to do it when someone comes to visit or someone new joins us.” Winnie looks at the girls. ”What do you say girls, are we going to have fun tonight?”
Nova, Aurora and Winnie jump up and down like kids. I don”t think they are much older than me and I laugh because they look so excited.
They leave me to sort out the room that I am going to be staying in for a while. I leave the door open to air the room and then start unpacking the things that we bought. It”s not long before Tank comes into the room. Well, he”s leaning against the door frame watching me.
”What did you get today, Lys?” He moves into the room and opens the closet. He runs his finger along the hangers and I remember the sensation of him running his finger down my arm. I get goosebumps as I watch him touch all my new clothes.
”Oh, what do we have here?” He pulls out the red dress that Winnie added to the pile.
”I was thinking of wearing it tonight for family night.” He spins around to look at me.
”You want to wear this to family night?” He laughs. ”Spider will blow a fuse if you wear this, but I guess family night is the best time to wear it.” He holds it up in front of me. Then he steps closer. Leaning into me he is right next to my ear. ”I want you to wear this for me, I don”t want any of my brothers looking at you like they want to fuck you, and I can guarantee they will if you wear this dress. You should save this for a date night.”
”Date night?” I laugh. ”Who is going to take me on a date night?”
He steps even closer, his breath touching my ear. ”I”d like to.” His breathing is heavy, hot and my body feels like it will explode if he even just touches me.
”You? What are you saying, Tank?” I swallow hard. Does he like me? Are the girls’ right? No fucking way.
“I”m saying I enjoyed holding you last night. I”m saying that I”ve wanted you for a long time, Lys. I”m saying that I stayed away because of Spider. But having you here, under the same roof as me is killing me. I feel a need to protect you from the world and I don”t know what to do about that.”
”You just want to protect me? Like your best friend”s little sister?” I hold my breath.
I feel his tongue licking the column of my neck up to my ear where he takes my lobe into his mouth. My heart rate has increased. My body is in overdrive and I feel a throbbing between my legs.
