Chapter 3 The Warning

I followed the Monk's words and continued.

"Yes, if you don't leave soon, be careful that the monster catches and eats your child."

I opened my mouth wide to scare the child.

"She especially likes to eat disobedient children."

Guo Meiyue hugged the child tightly in her arms and frowned.

"Fine, we'll leave. Who wants to stay anyway!"

With that, she picked up her suitcase and left with Guide Wang.

I composed my expression and looked calmly at the others.

"Everyone is tired too. Go back to your rooms and rest.

I can't order takeout here, but I will deliver dinner to each room."

At the mention of food, everyone's eyes lit up.

They asked what there was to eat.

I said, "Plain noodles, sweet soup, mushroom fried rice."

Someone in the crowd asked, "No meat?"

I answered, "This inn only serves vegetarian food. If you want meat, go down the mountain to eat."

Perhaps my smile looked a little eerie.

Most people agreed.

Only the middle-aged man who had climbed up first grumbled, "Why won't you let us eat meat? I want meat!"

I looked at him and smiled. "Anyone who doesn't cooperate can go down the mountain. I'll handle the checkout for you right away."

Other grumbling voices reached my ears.

"Damn, this boss lady is so troublesome. I wouldn't have booked here if I'd known."

"Forget it. I was planning to have barbecue tonight."

"Never mind. There's only this one inn near the scenic area. We'll make do for one night and leave tomorrow."

Only the Monk kept smiling.

He said to me, "Amitabha. Vegetarian is good. I like vegetarian food."

I returned the greeting and smiled. "Then I wish you a pleasant stay, Master."

After everyone returned to their rooms.

Before long, night fell.

I walked to the doorway and lit the two lanterns hanging there.

It was the fifteenth today. The moon was exceptionally round.

In other places, tonight would be a good night.

But here, it was not necessarily so.

I pulled my sleeves tighter. I felt tonight was especially cold.

I blew on my hands for warmth and went back inside.

It was already eight o'clock in the evening.

Three knocks sounded at the door.

The lanterns went out.
