Chapter 12

I leave Lorenzo's house pissed off, sure he's screwing that Lola. The bastard has no shame—she's just a girl.

I walk past Maike, the gardener, and whisper.

“So? Everything okay, any news?”

“Nothing new, other than what I already told you—the Don got jealous over the orchid.”

“Lorenzo's head over heels for that stupid girl.”

“She's not stupid, Miss Veronica...”

“Shhhh, I didn't ask you. I don't want to hear about that brat's qualities. That little bitch is going to pay dearly.”

I walk away and call Rick as soon as I get in the car.

“Where are you?” I ask.

“At home,” he replies.

“I'm coming over. We need to talk,” I tell him.

“Alright.”

I head to his place.

I arrive at the dump [1]where he lives. The hottie's got his back to me, shirtless, broad shoulders. I hug him and bite his back.

He spins me around and pins me against the wall, kissing me as he slides his hand under my skirt, pulls my panties aside, and strokes me with his finger. I kiss him back and push him away.

“Easy, easy, I'm in a hurry. And I don't want to get fucked in this horrible place.”

“What's up, babe? All that matters is us being together.”

“Rick, enough with the bullshit. I need you to find a place—it can be small—for something I want to do.”

“Okay, but what kind of small place?”

“Something that fits one or two people comfortably. Somewhere outside the city.”

“What are you going to do?”

“You'll find out when you need to.”

“Keeping secrets now?”

“No, I'll let you know when it works out.”

“Why? What's going on?”

“Rick, you're being too nosy. Stop it. Come here.”

I pull him in and kiss him, trying to distract him from my plans. He pushes me away and stares at me.

“Veronica, you know I agreed to help you, but I need to know everything. I'm risking my neck being with you.”

I smile.

“Hmm, scared of Accioly?”

“I am. You know what he's capable of if he finds out I'm with you.”

“Just keep things the way they are—secret.”

“Okay, but no secrets between us.”

“Rick, I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. Just do what I asked.”

“Fine, but if you screw me over, I'll kill you, got it?”

“Okay, okay. Look, there are three girls at the Caruso mansion, and we're going to grab one of them—if not all three—to give the Carusos a little scare.”

“You know you're playing with fire, right?”

“I love playing with fire, babe.”

I smirk. He heads to the kitchen, and I stay there thinking, letting an idea take shape.
