5. Dagon #3

I ran my tongue over his neck, savoring the soft sound that left his lips. The taste of his skin on my tongue made me crazed with lust. Was he affected right now? What was going through his mind? What would it be like to lick, bite and devour every, and I mean every inch of him?

“So, tell me, sweetheart, is that what you wanted?” I said, reciting the words from the book.

“Yes.” He breathed.

I couldn't resist the pull of him. I ran my tongue slowly once more. Deliberately, almost painfully slow. I knew what happened next, and so did Di. But I couldn’t go there.

So, I settled for the one thing I could have.

Very slowly, I licked the pulsing vein exactly below his ear.

His body locked up but then melted when I exhaled through parted lips over that same spot.

Because everything could go to Hell tomorrow, and because I’d clearly lost my mind, I decided to do something more.

I tugged his shirt aside, exposing his collarbone, and pressed my lips there.

Before he had time to ask me what I was doing, I marked his skin right there.

I needed to leave my mark. I needed him to remember my lips had been on him.

The sudden exhale, the quiet, broken sound he tried to hide, the way his body softened against mine… fuck, he was undoing me.

My hands moved to his back of their own accord. I pulled him closer. I would be lying if I said he didn’t feel perfectly right in my arms.

The sudden boom of Bren's voice filled the room.

Di jumped in my arms, pushing me away. I stumbled and almost fell as my foot caught in the damn curtains.

Even now, after what we did his hair cropped closer at the sides, with more length and soft texture on top, looks perfect.

All of him always does. And it made me want to come back to what we were doing, to drive him crazy, to make him lose control.

But the panic in his eyes made those thoughts evaporate.

Fuck, what did I do? Think, think!

I let a smirk settle on my face, noticing the deep blush on his cheeks and how his chest rose and fell rapidly. My gaze traveled down, but his shirt was too long and too wide – I couldn't make out a thing. Was he hard as me?

“Guess we did one thing after all,” I said.

He glared at me, shifting his weight, biting that lip like he didn’t know what it did to me. “Great for us. Couldn’t you have opened a different page?”

“Couldn’t you have given me a different book?”

“Couldn’t you have done it earlier with Andras?”

I choked on my spit, my eyes widening in horror. Do that with Andras!? Hell to the fucking no!

“If you’re so good, why do I have two challenges not done and you have three?”

“It’s not numerous, it’s three!”

“Yeah, like that makes a big difference,” I threw at him.

“Yes, it does, and…” His words were cut off when Bren screamed, "Game over."

Di groaned and stormed away from me.

Great job, Dagon. Great freaking job.

We all sank onto the couch, and Di and I poured ourselves glasses of whiskey.

“Didn’t you have enough?”

“Wild, always the protector. I’m not 16 anymore, so don’t bother,” I said.

“Asshole,” he retorted.

Wild and I didn’t get along very well – that much was obvious.

“Let’s see who has the most points.” Bren tried to count the points on the paper we'd been keeping score on, but unsurprisingly, he ended up with numbers that were impossible. Wilder took the paper from him and started counting.

In the end, Bren and Luc won, but it was all thanks to Luc.

We spent the next several hours drinking water, eating, and listening to music together.

Most of the time, I talked with Andras and occasionally Bren.

But I couldn't stop stealing glances at Di.

I observed his posture and the way he smiled at the others.

He often played with his glass, rotating it a few times, and fiddled with his ring.

It was already 1 am, and I was about to head to my room when Bren blocked the door and demanded that we all watch a movie. Who could watch anything in the state most of us were in, except Wilder I guess.

We ended up watching something anyway. Bren cuddled up with Di on the couch, and Luc had fallen asleep with his head on Bren's lap. Wilder was on the couch next to them while Andras and I were sitting on the floor, leaning on the sofa where Luc’s feet were.

I tried to focus on the screen, but all I could feel was the ghost of Di‘s skin on my lips. I turned to look at him but found him asleep. For that matter, all of them were asleep. I could have easily slipped away. No one would stop me. But I didn’t want to.

Tomorrow, their world would turn upside down.

Everything they thought they knew would be wrong, and I couldn’t help the fear gripping me like a vice, whispering in my ear that I’d lose them all.

The monster inside me was itching to be released, it was hungry, and I wasn’t far behind. If unleashing the darkness was what it took to protect them, I would do it without hesitation. No regrets. Only one purpose: destroy everything that threated them.
