Bits of Book Eight. #2
Sergi sighed hard and nodded. “Da, I know this etot sukin syn...sonofabitch. He’s a leader in St. Petersburg.
But he’s a pain in the ass as well. On the surface, he is the type of man who thinks he’s got more power than he actually does.
He’s wealthy but reckless and to find he sold off weapons he shouldn’t even know about?
It is surprising in one way for him to believe no one would find out.
But he’s also slimy enough to think he can do something like that and no one would ever try to stop him or call him out for breaking the rules.
He’s pushed the boundaries before but this is the worst thing he’s done, that I know of.
” He looked over at Serenity and asked, “Have you come up with anything else in your search of LaDonna’s past? ”
Serenity nodded. “Yeah, I got something. Viktor said this went back three years. I found something that went back five years and she didn’t reach out to him, he reached out to her. I found an email track on the dark web and he definitely reached out to her.”
“Show me.” Sergi growled his demand.
Serenity cleared her throat and replied, “You remember those explosives Dominic sent to her? The one stolen from the Bratva? Well, she’s had them about four months now and she enhanced them with a biologic that is airborne.
It would kill a lot of people. And she is supposed to meet up with someone that is willing to spend millions to get their hands on it.
He was coming to get the stuff in three days.
Oh, and he’s not the kind of man that will accept the deal is dead and the explosives are no longer available.
From what these emails say, he’s already paid half the bounty for them and that money is no longer in her accounts.
And he’s not the type of man that you can even attempt to swindle out of that kind of money. ”
Kosta shook his head and asked, “How much money are we talking about here?”
“He paid 50 million dollars up front and he still owes another 50 million,” Serenity told them.
“Do we know who this guy is?” Yuri wanted to know.
Serenity shrugged. “All I found was one name, Killian.”
Yuri hissed and looked over at Sergi. “I’ve heard that name and what I heard isn’t good news for us.”
Viktor stalked into the room and his eyes were stormy. He stopped just short of Sergi and his hands were clenched tightly into fists. “We found the men watching the hotel. All but two of them worked for LaDonna. The other two men work for someone else.”
Sergi nodded. “Let me guess, they work for a man named Killian.”
Viktor paused to ask, “Killian? Are you sure about that?”
Sergi shrugged. “Serenity just found out about another contact LaDonna had. So, we are up against both Dominic and this Killian cretin.”
Viktor paused. “This man Killian is a high value, high paid assassin who offers protection for a price. And I also hear he’s not picky about who he protects as long as they pay his price.”
Sergi thought for a moment about Viktor’s words. Then he remembered a man who might be able to give him more of an insight into what danger this creep Killian could give him. Sergi nodded then looked at Yuri with a smile. “I need to make a phone call.”
“Who are you going to call?” Yuri stared at him.
Viktor nodded at this and stared at him with more questions in his eyes.
Sergi smiled at them all and stated, “I know all kinds of people. I can call an expert.” Then he turned and walked out of the room, leaving everyone staring at the door.
Viktor looked at Felix who just stood there with his arms crossed over his chest. “This is unusual for a man like Sergi.”
Felix just shrugged. “He’s right, he knows a lot of different men but he also knows who he trusts and who not to trust.”
“And you are ok with that, brother?” Kosta wanted to know.
Felix sighed heavily. “Even if I am not. You know Sergi as well as I do. You cannot tell that man a damn thing. But I think he’ll get a good answer to whatever question he has.”
Viktor crossed his arms over his chest. “And just who do you think he’s calling?”
Felix shook his head. “A dangerous man but he’s also an honorable man.”
Twenty minutes later...
When he entered the security room again, Sergi looked around at them all. “We are getting some help with tracking down this Killian,” he announced.
Yuri stared at him and asked, “Some help?”
Sergi nodded. “I originally called this person just to see if he knew this man Killian and what he told me assured me this Killian has no morals or any compassion in his soul. We don’t even know yet what his motives for this weapon were.
This man would know how to find him and if this killer is coming we may need all the help we can get. ”
“Just who did you call?” Viktor asked.
Sergi just stared at him and raised his eyebrow as he stated the name, “Bane Jessin.”
The whole room went silent.
That evening...
Sergi saw her troubled gaze and asked softly, “Did you find something, child?”
Serenity nodded. “Yes. La Donna has been paying a fixed sum every month for the last six months.” She looked over at Bane and explained what she found, “But the transfers are going to an account under your name, Bane Jessin. Not Aaron Killian.”
Bane stared at her and asked, “My name is on that account?”
Serenity nodded.
“May I see your screen?” Bane asked quietly.
She turned it so he could view it.
Now he laughed and told her, “That’s not my account. Look, he spelled my name wrong and I don’t bank at that establishment. Whoever she’s been paying, it wasn’t me.”
Sergi walked over and looked at the bank account.
Bane was right, Killian had indeed spelled his name wrong.
The account was under the name Bain Jessine.
He shook his head. “I wonder about something here...Exactly who is it that LaDonna thinks she’s hired all these months?
I mean if she thinks she’s hired a man named Bane Jessin, the truth is going to hit her hard.
She may have been paying Killian and not know it. ”
Bane cocked his head at Sergi. “He has faked being me more than once. Although I vowed to kill him if I ever caught him doing it again.”
The next day...
They watched the scene play out in front of the hotel they were now inside of.
Dominic had exited the parked limo and looked around as if he had no care in the world. He finally paused to stare upward at the security camera and smiled hugely as he gave it a small friendly wave.
“Well fuck,” Felix commented.
“No way. Net!” Roman exclaimed.
“He just struts up and grins at us?” Felix scoffed.
James shook his head as he too stared. “This gives me the who is the craziest contest winner feeling.”
“Or who has the biggest nads contest winner,” Felix stated.
“No, this man has no courage or big balls,” Bane commented. “He has some kind of insurance backing him up.”
Sergi nodded “Has to be or he would not just walk into the bear’s den and offer up some honey.”
A huge gasp came from Serenity’s desk.
They all looked over at her.
“I-it is our sky cam,” she stuttered.
They all moved over to look at her screen.
On it a small plane slowly passed over and it had a banner flying behind it. Normally, this banner might say, Will You Marry Me? Or Happy Birthday. But this one said... Touch Dominic? Get the missile.
“What the hell?” James looked puzzled.
Then they all saw an actual jet fly over the hotel air space with its smoke trail following. As it completed the missile threat.
“Well, fuck me,” James muttered.
