Chapter 17

Cage

Cowgirl: Yeah, well, this candy shop is closed.

What the hell does she mean by that?

After a week of the shit I’ve been through, my nerves are on a razor’s edge here. I need to see her. I’ve been going crazy not being able to talk to her or check in on her and make sure she was doing okay. But with all the shit going down, there was no fucking time. And now, she’s icing me out.

Me: Where are you, Payton?

Cowgirl: None of your business.

Like hell it’s not my business. Everything concerning this girl is my business.

If she’s not going to tell me, I’m going to have to find out myself.

I head straight to Bones’s room, pounding hard on the door before walking right in.

Shit. I should’ve waited for him to answer.

Looks like he was in the middle of something.

“What the fuck, man? Don’t you knock?”

“I did.”

“Yeah, well, don’t you fucking wait until people answer?”

He’s quickly trying to close out the shit on his computer screen, but I already know exactly what he was watching.

And it’s more than obvious the guy has crossed into stalker territory.

It’s an issue that needs to be addressed, but now is not the time.

I’ve got a girl on the run and need to find out what the hell is going on with her.

She’s acting like she never wants to see me again. Giving me a real cold shoulder.

“Need you to locate my girl. It’s important.”

He’s shaking his head, trying to get himself tucked back into his pants.

“You got her phone number?”

I read it off to him and he types away on his computer, his fingers flying over the keys a mile a minute.

“She’s at that bar we were at. The country one out on the…”

“Thanks, brother. You see her move from that location, you text me.”

I’m rushing out the door before he can respond. I need to get to her before she lets some other guy take her home.
