Chapter 7 #2
There was also the fact that all the white wolves seemed to love Harry, and his mate was no exception.
With all that he had heard about her, he had a feeling that she could solve their problem with all the help that they would give her.
That little witch looked so innocent that he found it hard to believe that she was so powerful.
Yet, he had heard enough about her that he knew that she was a strong witch.
No one in this room seemed to have a problem with her, but when the servers came in to deliver food, they all acted cautiously and kept their distance.
Maybe they were sensing the power that she had and the magic that she could do.
They had no choice, and when the time came, and Harry was needed, she would be sent for and do the job as required.
He was an alpha, and he would manage to stay calm, cool, and collected.
Magic scared him, and that was no lie that he could deal with it when it was necessary.
As soon as the meal was over, Ariel called Harry to her and the witch did what looked like a magic trick.
There was fire and what looked like a little green goblin, but an address appeared, and that was where the human racists were hiding.
Maybe this would solve the problem? No, he wasn't an optimist, and he was sure that it would take more than just this.
He was a pragmatist, and he called together a dozen of his soldiers and sent them to the address to deal with whatever was there.
He couldn't deny that he was pleased when Harry suggested that she go with them.
Carlos told his team leader that the witch would be going with them, and with the look on his face, it was amazing that he didn't pass out.
Harry flashed them all away, and he was sure that that probably scared the devil out of them.
Carlos would laugh, but he had a feeling his time was coming soon.
It was hard to deny that he felt guilty for sending his men out.
Normally, he went with them. Harry would protect them; he was sure of that, but she would also scare the hell out of them.
Things were changing in the paranormal world, and they might as well get used to witches now.
She and others like her would probably be around more now that they were all allies.
Vampires were another thing his people needed to get used to, but one thing at a time.
He'd been around all kinds of paranormals in the past because his father had sent him to meetings that they were involved in when he was younger.
Carlos had a feeling it was because his father had not been comfortable around any of the other kinds.
This he understood because his wolf had run and hidden the second he'd seen Harry, and she looked innocent even though he knew she wasn't. What would happen if they came up against one of those tough, ugly witches?
That might have happened when they went to work with the wardens, because he had heard that those witches often worked for the bad guys.
Carlos would work with his wolf and try to get him to understand that Harry and certain other different paranormals were on their side.
Right now, with his wolf hiding to the point that he couldn't communicate with him, he wasn't sure how that was going to work.
Cally moved her hand to his leg and rubbed it.
She seemed to realize that something was bothering him, and she was trying to reassure him.
She didn't have the fluid magic that Harry did, but she did have an artifact that helped protect her from it.
That was something he needed to get, too.
That was something he might need to talk to Harry about because he had heard that she made very good artifacts.
There were other witches she could work with to make very strong ones.
Protection was something he needed to protect his people.
He'd even heard that these human racists sometimes hired witches to help them with their plans.
What kind of sense did that make? Were paranormals all bad until you needed one to help you with something?
One of the witches had figured out what they were doing, and she had turned on them as she should.
That had made them a little leery of recruiting paranormals in their fight against paranormals.
He wished he could stop thinking about this, because right now his mind needed to be on the ceremony they would go through tomorrow and on his lovely soon-to-be bride.
Cally was so beautiful, and he wanted to claim her in every way that was possible, and to Morrow would be the beginning of that.
There would also be a ceremony in a paranormal sense, and anyone who had not made it to the wedding would have a chance to attend.
It was hard for him not to imagine what she would look like coming down the aisle in a beautiful white dress and putting her life into his hands.
Maybe that was the whole purpose of this ceremony, to let him think about what their life could be like, and he could already imagine the children that they would have.
Little girls who look like her and miniature alphas who would follow in his path.
“I bet you're thinking about the honeymoon.” Harry winked at him.
“Maybe a little bit, but I'm afraid the real honeymoon won't come till later.”
“You've got problems, and I've got solutions.” She offered.
“One of those problems is that they're active and then they're not. We're not sure what they're doing or when they'll attack next.”
“I could stay for a little while. Cally is one of my best friends.”
Cally nodded in agreement. “Harry would love the food here. I think you'd also appreciate how funny she is.”
“You think you would be willing to go out in the field after the wedding?”
“Your guy doesn't mess around, does he? I appreciate that in a man. I can do that. What will your people be expecting of me? What will they do if they see a little magic happening?” Harry asked.
She had a point because they all knew about paranormals, but he wasn't sure what they would do if they saw a little magic happening.
“We have a guy called Ben, and he is a vampire.
His partner quit last week, and he didn't want a replacement.
He might be difficult to work with because his partner wasn't keeping up, and I think that was the problem.” Carlos admitted.
“I can hardly tell that the partner is done because Ben is so fast.”
“I can handle any paranormal. All I need tomorrow is his location and for him to be prepared for me.”
“Don't you want to know if he's cute?” Cally asked.
“No, I'm seeing a fireman right now, and I'm waiting to see how that'll work out.”
“I'm glad to hear you're still seeing him.”
“I've learned to make cookies for him and his guys. You know I must like him because I'm not much of a cook.”
“Ariel said that you've gotten better with the cooking.”
“I don't burn water anymore,” Harry said, and she laughed.
Carlos wondered if it was possible to really burn water.
He was interested in seeing Harry at work because he’d heard so much about her.
His mate had told him that Harry liked being famous because it made his enemies quake in fear and sometimes run.
All he could do was agree that Harry was famous.
Some called her the frog Princess, and some called her the toad Princess, but by either name, she was well known.
He had a feeling that even these human racists would know who she was when she announced herself.
He wished he had been able to go with her and watch her at work, but he had already told her she would be working with Ben, and this would be the one day off that he and his mate would get after their wedding.
It would make him a poor mate to go back to work at such a time.
Looking at Harry, he could see why their enemies would think that she was easy to take out.
She looked like a teenager and acted like one, too.
That would change when the magic began to fly.
His wolf whimpered. As close as Harry and Cally were, his wolf better get used to some magic.
It was time to turn his attention back to eating.
There was a lot to do today to prepare for Harry, working with Ben and the ceremony tomorrow.
Cally rubbed his knee and seemed to realize his concerns.
Maybe it was just that Harry often brought worries with her.
Not her fault, it was that the times that she was needed were often difficult ones.
So far, he had to admit that he liked Harry.
The little witch was sweet and funny, just like Cally had said.
Something that Cally had not said was the power that he could feel coming from her.
It was surprising, and someone who looked so young.
The meal was finished, and everyone dropped their dishes into the available tubs.
His mate had said they wouldn't need any instructions, and they would all do it automatically.
She had been right about that and doing it this way made things a little bit easier on the kitchen staff.
It was true that he had brought in a couple of extra helpers for the days that guests would be here, but this would just ensure that there would be enough to get the work done.
Everyone already had their rooms, and many people went to them.
They weren't set up like the place the white wolf had, so there was not a great deal to do here.
He supposed they would be watching TV because all the rooms had a TV.
