Chapter 7 #3

Ariel and Blake also went to their room, but he doubted they would be watching TV if he was interpreting the hot looks going back and forth properly.

He'd heard that they had a love match, and now he knew that was true.

For many years, there had been few fated mate matches, but now they were becoming more common.

Everyone said it was because the white wolf bloodline had been found, and the goddess was smiling at them.

It was hard to argue with what was visible.

If wolves did as the goddess dictated, the future would be bright.

If not, bad times would return. That was something no one except the corrupt wanted.

Carlos took his mate to their room. It was obvious to him that all the excitement had worn her out.

As much as he wanted to make love to her, he also wanted to care for her.

They both prepared for bed, and when they turned in, he wrapped her in his arms, and they went to sleep.

Tomorrow will be an exciting day, and the ceremony will be at ten a.m. When he woke, he felt anticipation.

It took him a moment to remember what was going to happen today.

When he did, he immediately jumped out of bed to get ready to face his day.

He needed to talk to Ben and prepare him for the storm that was Harry.

There was also paperwork and some other things that he needed to do before he could dress for the ceremony.

Ariel had brought some of the things for the wedding with her, and one of those was his tuxedo.

He could only hope that it would fit and look good since he had not tried it on yesterday.

The first thing he did was call Ben to discuss Harry joining him later in the day.

“I know her,” Ben replied.

“You'll be alright with it then?”

“Sure. Harry is a lot of fun, and she's also a good backup. I've worked with her for a while when I was at Tyne’s main office.”

“That's good to know. I can understand why you were so fast when we first got you. I thought a lot of the people he sent us were newbies.” Carlos admitted.

“Most of them were. He had to deal with what was available, and I was willing to come here because I wanted a change.”

“Tyne didn't really explain much about the personnel or give me much information. He said Moe would send it to me later. I'm still waiting.”

“Won't do you much good to ask for it. It'll come when it comes.” Ben informed.

“Have begun to pick up on that. I thought maybe they forgot to send it, but when I mentioned it, I realized that they just weren't going to send it until they wanted to. I'm sure there's a reason, I just don't know what it might be.”

“It's possible they want you to make your own decision about the people you were sent. They're giving you time to do that, and as some of them aren't working out, they'll probably be blacklisted.”

“That's a pretty serious step,” Carlos observed.

“It won't be done immediately, and they'll get a chance to show that they can do what's needed. I heard they did that with a handful of people in Alaska that just didn't work out.”

“Thanks for the information. It's a big help.”

“Cally would know that. Next time, just ask her, and I'm sure she'll let you know.” Ben observed.

She probably did know, but he hadn't asked her.

Carlos wondered why he hadn't thought of asking her.

Maybe it was because when they were together, they were so busy, and when they weren't, they were just a couple.

It was important to spend time together when they weren't completely involved in the business.

He knew that, yet the business had taken up much of their time.

She'd even suggested hiring more people to ensure everything was covered.

They were making a lot of money, so it was true that he could afford it.

That just wasn't the way he looked at things, but he would look at him that way now.

More help would put less pressure on them and make things easier.

It would also give them the time to do things together that weren't business-related.

Even though he'd not thought about it a lot before, he knew that pups could come along at any time.

He wouldn't mind waiting, but like most werewolves, he let the goddess decide.

Children would come as nature dictated. Maybe this was something that he should have decided with Cally.

It might not be too late to make that decision, and that was something he would have to discuss with her, too.

He was thinking too much and hoped it wasn't messing up the paperwork he was doing.

The usual paperwork of running the pack didn't bother him too much, but now that he had added the paperwork for running the business, it was more than he really wanted to do.

Cally had suggested a personal assistant, and he was beginning to see its value.

Before having a mate, spending time on business and paperwork had not bothered him.

Now he had a personal life, and he wanted to enjoy it.

This helped him understand Tyne's new outlook.

Family needed to come first in everything, and it would change the kinds of decisions he made.

Ariel always had a personal assistant, so maybe he could ask her for advice on who to hire and when.

Carlos looked at the time and saw it was nine, and he hadn't eaten breakfast or started preparing for the ceremony.

It was true that it didn't take a male as long as it did a female because his hair was fine the way it was, and makeup was not a consideration.

It would only take a little longer to dress than it normally did, so he decided to stop what he was doing and eat breakfast. Cally rarely came into his office, so he really didn't know what she was doing.

He entered the dining room and saw that there was food available for whoever needed it.

Fixing a plate, he got some coffee and orange juice and sat down to eat.

Ariel and Blake made it in, and he had a feeling that they had just woken up.

It made him feel good that they were enjoying their trip here.

“Are you about to get ready?” Ariel asked with a grin.

“Yes, I just wanted to eat first.”

A faraway look came over her face. “If you try, you can make Cally happy.”

What did that even mean? Of course, he was going to try.

He’d already decided to step things up to find more time to be together away from business.

She would also want some time to be an active pack bitch.

She’d already mentioned that. Carlos said goodbye and then went to his office, where everything that he needed to get ready would be.

Cally would be using their bedroom. With all the guests, no extra room was available.

His tuxedo hung on the wall waiting for him.

He'd never worn something so fancy, and he did wonder what it would look like once he put it on.

It was 9:30 AM, and he didn't have much time now.

By the time he got it on, it would almost be time to go to the spot he was supposed to stand.

It was white, but somehow, he had always thought of tuxedos as black.

The bow tie and the sash that went with it were dark blue.

His shoes were black and shiny. By the time he was dressed, he stood in front of the mirror, and he had to admit that he looked dashing.

His friend, Diego, would be his best man.

He was the head of the guards here, but they had also grown up together.

No one would expect him to pick anyone else because they were still close, like they had been his boys.

Carlos had heard that the best man often kept the ring, but he was keeping it himself, and if it got lost, he had only himself to blame.

He pulled it out of the desk and looked at it.

Normally, an engagement ring was given first, and the band was added when they got married.

In the box, he had the whole thing. It was a beautiful ring, and the band snapped into the engagement ring.

It was sapphire, a large one with diamonds clustered all around it.

He just knew she would love it, and he wondered if she would expect him to wear a ring.

It would be alright either way. Carlos had to admit he liked the idea of her wearing a ring so everyone would know she was claimed.

If she felt the same way and wanted him to wear a ring, he could understand that.

Pulling in a deep breath, he saw that it was almost time to take his place, and he had to admit he was nervous.
