Epistolary Interlude #1
brANDT brOTHERS GROUP CHAT
Hayden
You guys are never going to believe this.
Hunter
Seriously? You couldn’t do this in the chat without me?
Hayden
Hunter got himself a DATE last night and is skipping out on poker night.
Duncan
You’re just mad because his tells are the only ones you can read, so you’re going to lose all your money.
Hayden
That’s only seventy-five percent of the reason. He also won’t tell me who she is. I know she’s a redhead. Did anyone invite anyone with red hair?
Preston
Funnily enough, I did not categorize our invites by their hair color.
Spencer
You should have told Hayden you were sick and snuck out, Hunter. It worked for you in high school.
Hunter
Would have been easier. Silly me to think Hayden would understand me being away from him for a whole three hours. At least I’ll be in a different part of the city and not in the next room.
Hayden
That’s different. Charlotte wanted to congratulate me on our beer pong victory.
Spencer
Gross. You all really need to keep earplugs in the guest room supply basket.
Hunter
I ordered a 64-pack last night.
Duncan
Where are you taking her, Hunt? I have standing reservations at a few places. You can use one. I’m stuck at work until poker night.
Hunter
That’s what started this whole thing. I asked Charlotte to weigh in on two places. Hayden heard me, and basically, you’re caught up.
Hayden
I don’t understand why you didn’t just ask me.
Hunter
Because your favorite place to take Charlotte is District Taco.
Spencer
I mean, their food is really good, Hay, but that’s not very fancy.
Hayden
We go other places. How did this end up turning on me?
Preston
Funny how that worked out, huh…
Spencer
Though I still want to know where you’re going, Hunter.
Duncan
Hunt?
Hayden
He said to tell all of you he’s going on do not disturb for the night, we’re all assholes, and he loves us. Me most of all.

Subject: Proposal
Michelle,
Are you available to come into the station at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow? I have a proposal to run by you, and it has to be tomorrow. I think you’ll find it very interesting.
I’ll expect to see you then.
Ray
Jax
Have you decided what you’re going to do about your boss’s offer?
Laurel
I know it sounds tempting, but you already work too much. I’m worried about the strain on le bebe.
Michelle
I don’t know that I can pass it up. He’s offering me the chance to do what I want, why I took this job. And it’s more money, which is a good thing. You know with Cumulus and all.
Laurel
I can’t believe you’re insisting on calling the baby that. No one’s going to have any idea what you’re talking about.
Michelle
And that’s a bad thing? Besides, I’m leaving all the cute names for you and Caitlin. Y’all will pull that off much better than I.
Jax
How are you feeling about tonight? Where’s he taking you?
Michelle
He said it’s a surprise, but gave surprisingly detailed suggestions for the level of dressiness that’s appropriate.
Laurel
Sounds like Charlotte to me.
Jax
Yeah, definitely. Sweet of him to think to ask though.
Laurel
Have you thought about how you’ll break the news?
Michelle
I keep writing things down and then deleting them. I spent about twenty minutes in CVS seeing if maybe Hallmark had a card for this.
Jax
And?
Michelle
They definitely don’t.
Laurel
Well, if the meteorologist thing doesn’t work out, you have a great business idea?
Jax
Cards to break the awkward news in life.
Laurel
Cawks?
Michelle
Please say that out loud, L.
Laurel
Lol, whoops. You know they’re not my thing.
Jax
Anywayyy we should let you go get ready for tonight. I’ll get Preston to spill the beans on where you’re going once he gets to poker night.
Michelle
You think they know?
Jax
I’m sure they know he has a date. Those brothers gossip more than a small-town nursing home. Whether or not they know it’s you ...
Laurel
*Monica This Just Got Interesting.gif*
Michelle
I think I might throw up. Is it normal to get morning sickness for the first time right before you tell the father?
Laurel
Yes
Jax
Yes
Michelle
Awesome.
Michelle
Call you tomorrow.
