Chapter 6

"Big boss why did you allow them to do this to you. They even broke your ribs, you should have fought back," Ramon said.

Just with the tone of his voice I could tell Ramon was plotting revenge on my behalf. I have known the boy for so many years to know that look in his dark eyes meant blood. He was ready to kill and die forme with unwavering loyalty that sometimes worried me even though I didn't show it.

"Calm down Stinger I want you to go cool off and stay out of Detective Williams way he will be here in a few minutes.

Infact I know something that may keep you busy and your pent-up energy to be released.

I have assigned detective Luca Suarez to assist in the orphanages and most of our organizations for the entire period of the investigation.

It has been a month now Ramon, my wounds are fully healed and they will not scar so stop acting like a ticking time bomb.

Try not to be too hard on Suarez though he has history with men like us," I explained to the boy.

After assigning him which orphanages and community centres they were to visit Ramon left my office to begin work. God protect Suarez because I sure as hell knew Ramon would not go easy on him. That nosy detective had to learn a lesson or two though I wasn't sorry for him.

Deep in my thoughts with a glass of scotch in my hand I received a call from the secretary.

"Sir we have a detective Kayde Williams down stairs claiming you are expecting him.

" A smirk formed itself on my lips hearing the blonde detectives name.

He might have thought he was in charge of the game but I made the rules.

"Ask him if he has an appointment. If he doesn't tell him to book one now for this afternoon and maybe after my meeting I will see him."

I hang up the phone and turned on the monitor for the surveillance cameras down the lobby watching the interaction between my secretary Genevieve and Kayde. From the looks of it they were having a heated discussion.

"Genevieve get the detective on the line." I could hear a bit of shuffling before detective Kayde's deep alluring voice was on the line.

"Hello, Mr Bratan you asked me to meet in your office on Friday morning but your secretary says I need an appointment," he reported.

"Detective I am very happy you made it here just like I had requested but I hope you do understand this is a corporate company that I am running.

Without an appointment prior you cannot burge in here and demand to see me.

This is not one of your arrest parties that you storm in take charge and get away with it.

Yes I did ask you to meet me on Friday morning but you didn't ask at what time during the morning hours am I free to see you.

That is a downplay on your side. I thought detectives were smarter than that," I said hanging up the call.

The detective moved away from Genevieve's desk and sat down on the waiting lounge a crestfallen expression on his handsome face. Today he was clad in a black suit that made him look extremely powerful. His hair a bit shaggy than how he came in because of the many times he ran his hands through it.

I could tell from the shades he was wearing he had circles under his eyes from the lack of sleep maybe.

I stopped focusing on him and got back to business because there was an important shipment of armour that I was to make for the government which would make me billions of dollars and I wasn't going to lose the deal because of a particular boy scout distraction.

We had a conference meeting with the governor who said he needed the weapons delivered within twenty four hours. I had a delivery to make and after the killing of my men and with Ramon on other tasks I had to do it myself.

Two of my men were stationed outside my office and I called to them. "Sammy get my car ready and Eugene follow me downstairs." It had been exactly two hours of working on the location on where the delivery was taking place and who was doing the pick up.

After exiting the lift I saw a tired detective still seated waiting. I made my way towards him not noticing I was approaching he continued typing furiously on his phone.

I cleared my voice to get his attention. "Detective Williams how wonderful of you to join me today. I can see that patience is one profound aspect that they major in the police academy,"I teased.

His concentration left his phone turning to eye me in those black shades. "I feel rather uncomfortable you watching me behind those windows kindly take them off." He took the shades away from his eyes trying not to show the anger that was rising in my body realizing why he was wearing them.

'Who did this to you?" I growled. That startled the detective while the temperature in the room dropped to a chilling bit.

Everyone in my company knew not to mess with me when I was angry but looking at the bruise on the detectives beautiful blue eyes I was enraged.

I wanted to find out who hurt him and end them.

"It's nothing it's just a criminal I was pursuing and things got out of hand," he explained.

"Follow me detective we have business to get to," I said detecting the lie he told about his black eye but chose to let it go I would find out by my own sources. Inside the car we sat with the detective at the back while the two men sat in the front.

"Where are we going?" He asked silently. "We are making a delivery for state weapons." He flinched after hearing my words knowing that he disliked that idea.

"It's legal, the weapons are to be delivered to the governor," I reassured.

I realized what I had done after saying the words and I kept quiet for the remaining part of the trip.

I was not a man who played babysitter with the feds and I didn't even understand why I cared about detective rabbits feelings.

Maybe it's because he looked sad and not his usual cocky self.

The car came to a halt abruptly throwing the detective who had not put on his sit belt forward. I quickly came to his rescue my hand going for his head to check if he was okay. His eyes met mine and I could have sworn something in them glittered. Why did he look so sad.

"Scorpion it's an attack!" My man yelled. "Everybody get down." The bullets started flying through my bullet proof car and it was only a matter of time before the windows got a serious hit. The detective pulled a pistol out and I laughed.

"Detective that's not going to help. By the way they are firing at us I believe you can tell they have pretty heavy machinery. That sounds like a barrett m82. Let me take care of this. Sammy protect the detective at all costs. Eugene you come with me and see what all this fuss is about!"

He said to protect the detective at all costs. Internally screaminggggg right nowwww. If you are too, hit that star and leave a comment. Who doesn't love a man who just knows what he wants?
