Chapter 9
Hey guysss kept my word and I updated three chapters this week.
I am so happy for the number of reads I'm getting.
I know there may not be so many but I am a person who appreciates the little things life has to offer.
As you continue reading through the novel drop a star or two and comment on what you think.
Our silent readers I really appreciate and love you all.
If you loved someone so much and they committed a crime. What would you do?
Would you give them in to the authorities or would you keep it a secret?
Would you choose love over justice?
Comment in the comment section.
Here is the next chapter sorry to keep y'all waiting.
In an office in the city sat the prime minister.
A glass of scotch in his hand as he watched the news.
A knock was heard on the door and in came his right hand man.
"There is a delivery for you sir," he said.
He stood up and turned to watch the city before him.
"You can place it on my desk open it for me," he said.
"Sir you need to see this," said his right hand man. The prime minister walked towards his desk taking another sip of his scotch while he saw what lay in the box. His eyes turned red in anger gulping down the remaining liquid which burned his throat in a delicious manner compared to his sour mood.
"Who did this?" He asked even though at the back of his mind he knew who was stupid enough to send him such a gift.
"There is no record on the surveillance cameras on who dropped the package or how it got in the building," his right hand said.
"Get rid of it before anyone sees it!" He ordered. Leaving the room he left the prime minister in a state of anger on who dared played such tricks on him. His right hand man returned in the office watching his boss who opened his drink cabinet and poured himself a glass of whiskey this time.
"Cobby, did you do what I asked?" The prime minister inquired in a deadly tone.
"Yes it was done. Our men intercepted the shipment as you ordered." Cobby as the prime minister had called him answered. Hearing that the man looked pleased. His mind then drifted to the stunt that someone tried to pull on him.
"Another thing Cobby, find out who is trying to play stupid games with me and bring them to me." Came the order from the man who looked nothing less than sinister.
"Yes sir. By the way you have a visitor downstairs. One whom I'm sure you wouldn't pleased to have him here," said Cobby.
"Don't tell me it's that nosy detective from the downtown precinct." Cobby nodded his head in agreement knowing exactly who the prime minister was talking about. Detective Kayde Williams was that one thorn on their side they so badly wanted to get rid off.
"Let him come in. I want to see what he has discovered about my beautiful daughter," he said with zero affection in his words.
Detective Williams knocked on the door before a quiet come in was said and he entered into the twelveth floor office of the country's prime minister.
"Detective Williams a pleasure to see you," welcomed the man who now sat on his desk to command respect.
"Mr Prime minister the pleasure is mine. I'm sorry to show up in your office with such short notice but there has been some news regarding your daughter," he said directly. The man who stood next to the prime minister watched the detective warily wondering if he had already found out the truth.
"Have a sit detective. Any news you have on my precious daughter will highly be appreciated.
Would you like something to drink?" He asked.
The detective who felt parched agreed and asked for some water.
He drank the glass of water ready to give his findings to the man who looked concerned about his missing daughter.
"We have every reason to believe that your daughter was part of some human trafficking that kidnapped around ten women who were around the same age and fit the same description with her features.
The van which she was abducted in and the men who took her have been found and the two men have been murdered," reported the detective.
The prime minister held a grim expression receiving the news making the detective believe he was so worried about his daughter.
"Detective Williams that sounds like very grave news I wonder if you have any leads on where she is or where the rest of the girls are being held captive?" Feigned the prime minister.
"Yes we do have a trail of where the rest of the girls are being held but we have no confirmation that your daughter will be in the same warehouse," offered the detective. The prime minister's eyes turned watery holding his face in his hands showcasing his worry over the girl.
"Mr prime minister worry not we will make sure to find your daughter and bring her back to you safe and sound," comforted the detective.
"As much as I'd like to believe in your words detective.
We both know sometimes cases like this go on for months sometimes even years and by then where will she be.
Probably six feet under or in a brothel somewhere in Russia.
Don't give me false hope when we know there is only so much the police force can do," lamented the man.
Kayde knew everything that was said was true that indeed some cases went on for years and it all led to dead ends. "That will be all prime minister. Allow me to take my leave I will keep you updated after the warehouse rescue," he said.
The prime minister got up offering Kayde his hand to shake. "Thank you detective for informing me of your discovery in person. Your help is really appreciated. Please let me know everything you find out it will give her mother hope to know that we will soon find her," said the prime minister.
Kayde left the office feeling sad for the older man who looked like his daughter's abduction was taking a toil on him. Even though the man appeared worried something seemed amiss.
In the office the prime minister and his right hand conversed with each other about the detective who just left. "Make sure he never gets close to the truth Cobby. No one should ever find out!"
His phone which sat on the desk rang and he picked it up. His face scrunching in anger from the news he received. He hanged up turning to Cobby and said, "Your brother is dead. The Scorpion finished him. He sent his body to one of our hideouts."
Cobby who heard the news just kept a passive face even when he wanted to mourn his brother.
In the kind of business they were in they had to have no feelings or weakness.
The prime minister had interfered with Scorpion's business it was bound that he would clap back and there would be casualties. His brother was just another casualty.
"We will avenge him!" promised the prime minister.
