Chapter 21
Her body felt weak every time she tried to move.
It had been weeks probably months only God knew how long she had been locked in there.
Time seemed to have stopped or passed far too quickly.
Ever since Cobby had tried to assault her she felt shaken.
"Today, I have to get out of here," she said to herself.
She pushed herself up already feeling the nausea building up.
The effects of getting starved were already taking a toll on her.
Mastering enough strength, her legs wobbled as she made her way to the small bathroom.
"Ty dolzhen vyhit," she whispered to herself. Her eyes stared at her in the mirror sunken begging for survival. Her hair clang to her face sweat dripping down her face, skin looking pale and ghostly. "I can't die like this," she spoke with resolve.
She turned the sink with all her might trying to disassemble the faucet. After a million attempts she was finally able to unscrew it. Allowing herself to fall on the ground she closed her eyes for a minute letting her thoughts wander to the day she was kidnapped.
"Your father requests you go home right now Mariya. He wants to see you," Cobby commanded.
"The school day is not yet over, can't he allow me to come home once it's done. I have a test in an hour I really don't want to miss it, please."
" Sir, she doesn't want to come home she claims she has an important test in an hour's time what should I do?" Cobby spoke on the phone.
"Bring her to me!" the prime minister instructed.
Cobby turned to his men signaling them and they picked up the girl and threw her into the van.
In the prime minister's residence the girl was on her knees weeping for him to let her get back to school. "Father what have I done wrong please let me go back to school," she pleaded.
"You are no daughter of mine so please stop wasting those crocodile tears on me. Who gave you the right to meet with that man. Do I not provide you with enough Mariya? You have now started sleeping with the enemy is that it?" He yelled.
"No father Mr Bratan is simply a sponsor for the oncoming teenage genius competition he was just congratulating me for making it to the semi finals.
He offered me a position in his company once I completed my finals and turned eighteen he said he would discuss it with you.
This is all a misunderstanding," Mariya explained.
A resounding slap was heard in the room which left the little girl on the floor weeping for mercy.
"I never want to hear you mention that man's name in this house again.
" Mariya went back to her room and wept.
She called Ivan and he told her to find a way to escape and meet him he would take care of her and keep her safe.
In the middle of the night when she was escaping she found her father and mother downstairs waiting on her like they knew the plan. The prime minister's eyes were red with anger. Disgust written all over his face.
He hit her again and again while the prime minister's wife just watched. Tears in her eyes but not bothering to stop him. "Please mother tell him to stop. I didn't do anything wrong," she cried.
"Take her away," she heard. She fainted and woke up tied up to a chair.
She dragged her hand on the wall trying to get up allowing the tears which left her eyes comfort her. She had to find a way the voice inside her head kept screaming for survival. The man had to pay.
"Wherever you are in the world, I will always find you Mariya. Wait for me," she remembered his words and she believed them. She needed to let him know where she was one way or another he would rescue her. He promised he would.
She made her way back to the room the faucet securely under her clothes on her waistband.
She lay down in bed waiting for him. She knew that he would bring her her food and after every two days the prime minister would come.
Today was one of those days he wasn't going to be around.
She heard the door knob turn her eyes closing mastering all the strength she would need.
A man walks in through the door and doesn't lock it.
In her mind like a routine she could tell it was not Cobby.
He looks at the girl on the bed and is surprised to see how small she is.
Not being curious orders were orders and that's what kept him alive by minding his business.
He placed the plate of food on the floor and turned to live.
With all the years she had of training with her father's men she swiftly stood up and struck him behind his head.
He fell on the floor losing consciousness immediately. Her hands ran to his pocket finding his phone. She turned on the location and shared it with the only person she could trust. She dialed her number it was the only one she knew.
"The phone rang twice before a small voice spoke, "Marie is that you. Oh my God I've been so worried about you, where are you?"
"Rosa please listen to me very carefully.
I don't have much time. I sent you a pin via text I'm going to delete these number from the cloud and our conversation from this end to never be traced.
I may not successfully escape, send it to Ivan.
He will find me. Once you do delete every trace of our conversation I don't want him coming after you too.
You know him very well. Go to school in my locker you will find a key then go to the library on the aisle where I showed you my favorite book check there whatever you find give it to Ivan.
Do not trust anyone else. No one should ever find out.
Take care Rosalind I'll make sure if I survive this I will find you. I love you so much," explained Mariya.
"I love you too Mariya. Forever."
Forever," she promised.
Her heart broke just with the thought of Rosalind she hated to put her life in danger but she didn't know Ivan's number off head.
It was saved on her phone that they confiscated.
She deleted the text the call both from the call logs and the cloud to ensure even with a back up in place they would never find it unless a hacker was hired.
To ensure no suspicion regarding the phone she returned to the man's pocket where she had found it.
She knew the man wasn't going to be alone and her chances of getting help from Ivan were higher than escaping.
She walked to the door opening it slowly only to see darkness.
Her body was exhausted but she pushed herself.
After adjusting she could see shipping containers everywhere.
She turned to her right speeding as first as her legs would allow.
When she got to the end she was about to leave when something heavily connected with her head and she fell losing consciousness.
"Cobby was right she would definitely try to escape. Take her back inside and go find him a doctor she hit him pretty bad," one of the men said.
Ty dolzhen vyhit( I must survive)
