Chapter Thirty-Nine Josh

The sound of the elevator dinging cuts through the silence filling the office.

I tear my eyes away from the email that I’m typing up and look up, immediately smiling at the sight of Emma as she strides toward me with an excited glow on her face. “Hey, beautiful.”

Emma speeds up as I stand from my desk and runs into my arms, hugging me tightly. “I have something to show you. I just noticed this morning.”

A curious look appears on my face as she steps away from me and turns to the side, lifting her loose t-shirt and pulling the band of her black leggings down a little. It doesn’t take me long at all to notice the small bump of her stomach that wasn’t there before.

“You’re starting to show!” I say as I step closer to her and gently place my hand on her stomach. “Holy shit. I’ve been waiting for this.”

“You and the others,” Emma replies with a smirk on her face. She glances down at my hand and smiles, a light blush adorning her cheeks. “It was hard to button up my jeans. I’ll need some new clothes soon.”

“We’ll buy them for you,” I tell her without skipping a beat.

Emma flashes me a pointed look. “You guys don’t have to buy everything for me. I make my own money.”

I drape my arm around her shoulders and pull her toward me so that I can kiss the top of her head. “Just let us spoil you a little. It makes our day.”

Emma laughs. “Just buy things for the baby. We still have a lot on our list.”

I let out a playful groan as I sit on the edge of my desk. “You’re no fun.”

Emma stands between my legs as she rubs my shoulders. “Speaking of no fun, we have to talk about something serious.”

I frown a little. “About what?”

Emma sighs. “I was talking to Max, and he’s ready to tell everyone the truth soon. I think we should too. It’s starting to get too hard to hide that I’m pregnant.”

I knew this day was coming soon. It needs to happen, but part of me still isn’t ready to face her brothers. They’ll have the most visceral reaction, and I really don’t want to be sent to the hospital with a broken nose.

“Have you talked to Ryan?” I ask her.

“I FaceTimed him last night, and he said that it’s up to me. He’s ready whenever,” Emma replies. “I just wanted to get your opinion before I set up a time for us to meet with my brothers. I think we should get them out of the way first.”

I breathe in deeply as I rest my hands on her hips, my heart rate kicking up. They’re going to be pissed, but we might as well bite the damn bullet and get it over with. I’m sick of worrying about it. I just want to focus on my family.

My stomach knots. I imagine Ethan’s fist meeting my jaw. But Emma’s face—full of hope and fear—makes the decision for me. “Let’s do it,” I tell her with a nod.

Emma gives me a grateful look before grabbing her phone and bringing up her group chat with her brothers. She types out a message before showing me. “This Saturday at my place around noon?”

“Works for me,” I reply.

Emma sucks in a deep breath before hitting send on the message and shutting off her phone. She places it on the desk and buries her face in my chest with a nervous exhale. “No going back now. I can’t believe we’re going to do this.”

I move my hands up her back, holding her against me. “It’ll be okay.”

Emma shakes her head. “What if it isn’t? What if they hate us and won’t ever talk to us again?”

“They’d never cut you off like that,” I assure her. I can’t say the same for Max, Ryan, and me, but Andrew and Ethan love her too much to push her out of their lives.

Emma wraps her arms around me and presses her face into my neck. “I don’t want to lose anyone. I just want a big family who actually loves and supports each other. That’s all.”

“You’ll get that,” I promise her. “And no matter what, you’ll at least have me and the guys. We’re not going anywhere.”

Emma loosens her hold on me to draw back and meet my eyes. “Promise?”

She’s so terrified to be left alone. To lose the love of the ones she cares about the most. I can tell it hits her in her soul.

“Promise,” I tell her. I don’t care what I have to do. I’ll make sure that she has the big, happy family that she wants.

Emma’s face softens before she leans forward and connects our lips.

I slide my hand up the back of her neck into her hair, deepening our kiss as she melts into me. It’s ecstasy tasting her. It’s heaven having her in my arms. “I’m glad you came to see me today.”

Emma smiles as she plays with the hair on the back of my head. “Yeah?”

I grin as I start sliding her shirt up her body. “I’ll show you how glad.”

Emma glances behind her. “What if someone comes here?”

“The only people who would come by are Max and Ryan, and they would just join in,” I assure her, seeing her eyes darken at the thought. “Greedy girl.”

Emma takes off her shirt and bra for me, natural light from the windows painting her body in a beautiful glow.

“Take it all off. I want you in my lap,” I tell her before moving to sit in my office chair, my fingers already moving along the buttons of my shirt.

Eagerness lights up her face as she hooks her thumbs in the waist of her leggings and panties, stripping them off to leave her bare and perfect. She doesn’t even give me time to finish undoing my pants before straddling my lap.

A groan leaves me as she surges forward to kiss me hard, her neediness turning me on even more. It doesn’t take long at all for me to fully harden, my erection aching as she grinds herself down on me.

“Feel how much you turn me on?” I say as I grab her ass, dragging her over my lap.

“Yes,” Emma breathes out, a moan lingering on her lips from the friction. She finishes undoing my pants and frees my cock, her hand stroking me from base to tip.

She has been insatiable lately, and I’m certainly not complaining.

I buck my hips, thrusting into her fist as she strokes me faster. I drop my head back for a moment, breathing in unevenly as pleasure floods me. “Fuck, you’re killing me already. I need to be inside of you.”

“Now,” Emma agrees before lifting up and running the head of my cock through her folds so that I can feel how wet she already is. Without letting me do anything, she sinks down on me with a broken moan.

“Fuck,” I breathe out as she takes me so damn well that it knocks the breath out of me. “Needy girl. Can’t wait a second, huh?”

Emma shakes her head as she grips my shoulders, using them for leverage as she starts bouncing on my lap.

I take a moment to just watch her, drinking in the sight of her body moving so perfectly. I have to grit my teeth to keep the pleasure from taking hold of me too much. “Just like that, beautiful. You’re taking me so good.”

Emma grinds herself down on my lap, hitting a new angle that makes her gasp in bliss. Her nails pierce my skin, but I don’t care about the sharp pain.

I care about how close she’s already getting.

“Squeezing me so good,” I breathe out as I run my hands up her body, starting to lift my hips to meet her bounces. “Come on, baby.”

Emma’s breathing quickens, her body tensing. She slams herself down on my cock, and the pleasure consumes her. She drops her head back with a blissful cry, trembling from the intensity of her orgasm.

I wrap an arm around her and thrust up into her, drawing out the pleasure a little longer while falling off the edge myself. I come with a grunt, my cock pulsing hard.

Emma slumps against me, lazily looping her arms around my neck. She presses a soft kiss against my lips, aftershocks shuddering through her body.

I slide my hands up her back, enjoying the warmth of her skin. Reveling in the opportunity to have her in my arms. I love these moments.

I love her.

“Emma…” I whisper, my heart aching.

“Yeah?” Emma asks.

Words that I’m too nervous to say get lodged in my throat, leaving me speechless for a few seconds. “Everything is going to be okay.”

Emma smiles against my cheek and nods. “As long as we’re all together.”

“We will be,” I promise her.

I don’t want to go back to how things used to be. When we never saw each other. When I was miserable with Stacy. When I felt so damn alone and uncared about.

Now, everything is different, and I refuse to lose it all without at least fighting like hell for it.

I just hope it doesn’t come to that.
