Chapter Eleven Solae Diamond Santiago

Phew!

Phew!

Phew!

Dropping the weights by my feet, I was drenched in sweat. Crown called me last night to hit the gym this morning. I didn’t turn him down because I had to tone this ass up.

The look in Crown's eyes though...

I had never seen before.

For the first time in all the years I'd known him, I noticed how smooth his skin was...

And how his arms flexed without him even trying.

"Solae. Solae."

Crown snapped in front of my face.

"Huh?" I said, looking into his eyes.

"If you can, huh? Then you can hear. Are you okay?"

"Y-yes! I'm good, Crown."

I said it irritation while pointing at the TV on the wall in the gym.

He didn't say anything in response.

I was hoping he didn't catch me damn near drooling while looking at him.

I tried to fight the nagging thoughts because I knew Crown didn't come over here for us to get into it.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling a type of way.

"Crown... you got a baby on the way?"

He ran his hand through his beard.

"Nah. Why you ask?"

"Your ex made it a point to tell me, and I just wanted to confirm it with you."

I looked at him with my face scrunched up.

He pulled out his phone and put it on speaker.

Kaylani's voice purred through the phone.

"Hey, big daddy. What's up?"

She sounded like she was at somebody brunch acting a damn fool.

"Don't 'what's up' me. You pregnant?"

He sat the phone on the table in front of us.

"No, daddy... unless you wanna shoot the club up."

She giggled.

I almost threw up in my mouth at how forward she was.

Crown pressed End.

Then looked me dead in my eyes.

"Ion know why you still sticking your dick in that girl anyway."

Shaking my head, I got comfortable on one of the benches.

"Ain't you the pot calling the kettle black? Your taste in dudes is trash."

" Hand me my damn water bottle, Crown."

Smacking my lips, I knew he was right.

Out of all the years we'd been friends, I was either getting cheated on, played, or half-loved.

Lost in my thoughts, I couldn't help reflecting on how far Crown had come.

And how blessed I was to watch him evolve into such a phenomenal man.

We had switched roles throughout the years, and somewhere along the way, he became my protector.

We met back in elementary school at Gravely Elementary.
