Chapter Nineteen #2

I nod, my neck brushing his soft hair. He pulls up to look at me again. “Tell me.” His voice low.

“I love yo—” His mouth slams back to mine as he swallows my confession too.

Every brush of his lips, the stroke of his tongue, the possessive movements of his hands, is a reminder of how much I missed it. Missed him. Everything inside me lights up. I grab his hair, pulling him closer. I never want to let go again.

His hand slides over to my abdomen, pushing my T-shirt up. “I want it all off,” he says. “Now.”

I’m completely on board with the plan.

He pulls up and kneels, giving me room. I lean back against the couch, taking off my T-shirt, then slipping out of my pants and underwear. I don't want anything between us, not even fabric.

The moment his clothes are off, he’s back on top of me. Then he is everywhere, all at once. His mouth claiming my nipples. Sucking, licking, and sending shivers down my body.

He peppers kisses down to my rock-hard cock. Then tugs at it before taking me into his mouth. He’s become so good at it. With one smooth movement, he takes me into the back of his throat. His cheeks hollow as he sucks me in. My brain short-circuits.

I watch his dark, reddened lips gliding over my hard cock. There is nothing slow or sensual about this. Only claiming. The heat and warmth of his mouth clutching me, almost making me blow on the spot. I grab at his hair, helpless as he deep throats me. My thoughts blur.

Moving his hand down, he plays with my balls. “Fuck, I'm going to come if you don't stop.”

He pulls away, then drops a kiss on my belly.

“You can go ahead. No one is stopping, babe. Just know that won't be the only time you come today.”

“Don't have your werewolf refraction period. Remember?”

He laughs, then kisses his way up to my lips.

This time, when his tongue makes its way into my mouth, I taste myself on him. The feeling steals the air from my lungs. A deep, satisfied sound escapes me.

He lines his hard, leaking cock alongside mine, thrusting with every stroke of his precise tongue. Like he can’t help it. Like he needs this just as much as I do.

After not touching him for days, I have no patience to go hunt for lube. I encourage him. My body follows the rhythm until our cocks are sliding against each other faster with every breath. Our precum makes for the only lubricant. I don’t care. My entire body buzzes. Every inch of me hums.

“Fuck, please don't stop,” I murmur against his mouth. My body gets hot as the pressure builds. My breathing turns ragged.

“Yes, that's so good, baby. So good,” he says, kissing my cheek. My nose. My neck.

Then he takes both of our dicks in his large palms, and jerks us together. My hands fly to the arm of the couch, digging my nails into the fabric.

He looks down at me, his eyes intent. “You're so, so beautiful. I missed you so much. Please don't ever do that again.”

I nod. I will agree to anything right now. As long as he keeps moving his hard body against mine. I feel hot all over. I bury my face against him. My body feels weightless. Like I’m flying. Like he’s my only tether.

“I... I love you. I trust you. Okay? Love you so much.”

I nod frantically. I feel completely exposed. Goosebumps spread over my body.

His rhythm gets faster. “Say you love me.”

“I love you,” I repeat it mindlessly. Electricity travels through my body as it coils. Every nerve feels awake.

Then I’m coming all over my chest, clutching the fabric tighter. Nicholas lets my oversensitive dick go and jerks himself off on me until he releases on my chest too.

Before I can say anything, his mouth descends on mine, claiming me in a frenzy.

“God, I'm so conflicted,” he murmurs against my lips.

“Why?” I ask.

“If the makeup is going to be like that, do we need to fight more often?”

I smack the side of his head playfully and guide him down until his head rests on my chest. I let his weight drown me for as long as I can take it.

He shifts slightly on the couch, taking some of his weight off me after a while. I breathe in his scent, letting it wash over me. Savoring it while I comb my fingers over his hair slowly.“Nicholas?”

“Yeah,” he says, sounding drowsy.

“If we don't find the killer..." I start.

He rests his chin on my chest to look up at me. His gaze overwhelms me, but I need to get this out. He needs to know what to expect.

“If we can't find the killer before the new team takes over the case, Sam and I will have to flee.”

“No”

“Nicholas, it’s our only op—”

“Just no.” He plants his hands caging my head, his blue eyes capturing mine. “You’re not leaving me. I’m not letting it get to that.”

I sigh. “I don’t want to leave you, you know?”

“Then why do we even have to talk about this? I’ll find the killer, and you’ll stay right here. With me. Okay?”

I nod. Because I want to believe him. So badly that I’m willing to be delusional. We’ll find the killer.

He nods back. “Will you tell me about your past? Please?”

Every part of me screams to pull away, but I fight the instinct to shut down again. I can’t hide behind my excuses anymore. I asked him to trust me. Screamed it, really. God, these people are making me dramatic. But now, I need to show him I trust him too. “It’s more of a dressed-up conversation.”

Nicholas laughs. He gets up from the couch and gives me a hand. Good thing, because my legs are still jelly.

A quick cleanup later, we sit side by side on the couch. I look straight ahead. There’s no way I’d be able to get the words out if I look at his face and find sympathy, or worse, pity. “I was five when I found Raymond Booth’s claws buried in my neighbor’s heart.”

I ignore Nicholas’s surprised gasp.

“He caught me. Of course, he did. Not much escapes werewolves' senses. I learned that the hard way.” I close my eyes, taking a deep breath. “I told everyone. My parents, the police, everyone. And no one would believe me. Like he knew all along. That’s why he didn’t even try to stop me.

” My eyes sting. I swallow to keep going.

Nicholas gently places his hand over mine on my thigh. But doesn’t interrupt me.

“But from then on, he made it his life’s mission to break me.

Piece by piece. It started with the murder of my best friend.

He made me believe I could save him. That I had power.

Then he stabbed him just like Ms. Chelsea.

He would listen to my conversation with my parents to find his next target.

Everyone I mentioned, even in passing, was fair game.

Every time, he’d make me watch. Make me plead.

Every time, he’d bury his claws into them right in front of me.

” Tears start to flow then. I don’t stop them. This is already pathetic enough.

Nicholas slides closer to me. His warmth grounds me, reminds me I’m safe. Nothing can ever harm me because he’s here.

I continue before I lose my nerve. “He killed nine people while I stood there crying. Helpless to do anything. I was useless, and they paid the price with their lives. It—”

“Baby, you were a kid,” Nicholas whispers. Then I’m wrapped in the cocoon of his warmth, my head rests against his chest. “You were just a little kid. He was a pathetic excuse for a human being. The adults around you should have done better. But baby you— you were just a kid.”

I shake my head. I can feel his shirt getting wet. “I should have explained it better. Caught on to his games—”

He pulls me up, cupping my face. “No. Just no, okay? It’s not on you. It’s fucking not.”

I nod because I can see he won’t budge here. Nicholas moves his hands down but leaves them on my shoulders.

“When he left, I decided I can’t let that happen again. To anyone. Then I met Sam in college, and I finally found a way to make sure no werewolf can evade justice.”

Nicholas pulls me back into his chest. “I get it now. I’m so sorry it happened to you, baby. I’ll find that motherfucker, and I’ll kill him. I promise you.”

Reluctantly, I pull away from his embrace. “Sam has been looking for him for years. We thought we finally had a lead. But if you say the Bureau was aware of Adrian all along, and they still haven’t found him, then maybe this is a dead end too?”

Sighing, Nicholas pulls me back in. “I need to hold you for a second, okay? Don’t be difficult.”

I roll my eyes. “If you need it.” I sink deeper into his embrace, wrung out but lighter somehow.

“I don’t know what the Bureau has yet. But I promise you, baby, we’ll find him.”

I nod once, my body going limp against his. He's got me.
