44. Eye Contact #2

She cocked her head, flipping the card over. “But why?”

I shrugged, grinning at her sitting in her red bra, ripped shirt, otherwise naked in my copilot chair. “Just in case you need it.”

Her lips parted, taking a small breath in that didn’t lead to any word being spoken.

I could feel her gaze drilling into me, asking a question that I preferred not to answer—because her father was gambling, because the house had been stripped of precious antiques—telling me, he was no doubt, quickly running out of money.

I shrugged. “Use it for whatever you want, but just keep it, just in case you need it. ”

She nodded contemplatively and then, “Captain, how well can you fly this plane?”

I huffed a laugh. “Uh, fine? Why do you ask?”

“Good. Then it’s finally my turn, Casanova.”

“Ohhhh fuck me.” I groaned, white-knuckling the yoke as I realized what she meant. She slid down in front of me, hands sliding up my thighs. “Sara.” I choked out, pleading, as she quickly pulled out my cock—it immediately thickened in her hand.

“Keep your eyes on the road.” She murmured, but I’d already turned the autopilot back on. There was no way in hell I could focus on flying this plane with her on her knees, looking at me like that.

She stared at my hard cock with slightly wide eyes, and when she glanced up at me through those dark lashes, with that innocent little look; I knew it was game over for me.

I felt like a horny teenager, ready to blow at the first suggestion of contact. I stilled as she gave me the most devious look I’d ever seen, and her tongue darted out, swirling tentatively around my head while she watched my reaction.

Mother-of-fucking-pearl-holy-fucking-shit.

I whimpered, knowing I’d been wrong—I wasn’t Gollum at all, I was the volcano in Mordor and I was about to erupt.

“I’m sorry I’m not very good at this,” she admitted, gripping me with both hands.

“Sweetheart, I think you’re doing just fi—” I groaned as hot, wet heat enveloped me.

I gripped the yoke rather than the back of her head, just to be safe, given her comment the other night—but she was so impossibly sexy, and it took all my energy not to thrust into her mouth hard and rough. Not to sink myself down the back of her throat like I wanted to.

“You look fucking incredible with my cock between your lips.” I panted, and the eager look on her face didn’t help as she bobbed up and down, eyes starting to water.

“Yeah, baby, just like that, suck me like a good girl.” I groaned, realizing it was hotter than I’d imagined.

The look she gave me from underneath her dark lashes while her plump lips slid up and down my length.

Her cheeks hollowed out, and I swore as I hit the back of her throat and she gagged.

“You don’t have to go that deep.” I rasped in warning, not wanting her to push herself too far.

“Anything you do feels amazing.” But she did not like that comment one bit, and I white-knuckled the yoke as she swallowed me down with even more determination—a ruthless punishment for even suggesting she slow down.

I wasn’t going to last long at all. “Fuck, baby, I’m close.” I whimpered, head falling back on the brink of ecstasy. “If you don’t want me to come in your mouth?—”

Her words were muffled, and I caught a flash of a brief mischievous smile before her cheeks hollowed out ruthlessly, making me cry out.

Loose coils of hair tangled around my hand as she swallowed me deeper, as I fucked her gorgeous mouth.

Her eyes watered and she gagged as I climaxed, jerking hard as I came, straight down the back of her throat.

But like the devious thing she was, she swallowed everything I gave her, and then proceeded to release me, flicking her tongue over my head to get every last drop—she had the audacity to lick her lips like she just couldn’t get enough.

“Fuck, you’re incredible.” I panted, shuddering as I collapsed back into the captain’s chair, realizing that had really just happened, that she’d just sucked me off while I was flying a damn plane—I couldn’t think straight, couldn’t hardly catch my breath.

“You turned the autopilot back on, didn’t you?

” She grinned, clearly feeling very proud of herself, before she crawled up my chest and gave me a peck on the lips.

I didn’t bother answering as I grabbed her before she could pull away and hauled her into my lap, tasting myself on her, because I just couldn’t get enough of her. Of us .

On the short flight back, we chatted about everything under the sun, each of us shooting each other small smiles, just enjoying each other’s company.

We’d spent the last few months laying those important foundational pieces, the ones that made me feel even more confident that I was falling head over heels for my best friend, despite all the alarm bells going off.

And when we landed, I did something that shook me to my core. I told her my feelings.

As she turned to get into the car, I grabbed her wrist, relishing in the way her breath hitched as I brushed my thumb across her delicate skin. I doubted it would ever get old. “Sara.”

“I have to go.” She groaned, thinking I was pulling her back for one more kiss. For the umpteenth time. “ You have to go.”

“I know.” I took her face in both hands, panting as I gazed into those big brown eyes that held everything I’d ever needed.

“I know this is way too soon.” I admitted nervously.

“But it’s also way too fucking late.” She searched my eyes trying to figure out what I was about to say.

“I’m deploying, and I can’t leave without telling you how I feel. ”

“Carter.” She breathed, her eyes blowing wide with sudden understanding.

I was trembling, literally shaking like a leaf, I was so terrified.

“I love you.” Saying it out loud was scarier than flying at mock speeds, scarier than facing down any enemy, any threat.

“I think I’ve always loved you, Sara. I think there has always been a part of me that has known it, too.

Even if this means risking the only family I have left, you’re worth it.

Whatever happens, I’ll always love you, Sara. ”

“Kensington.” Rage flashed through her eyes. “How dare you throw that out there like you’re not coming back from this assignment in one piece!”

Oh shit, oh shit, oh fucking SHIT!

I’d leapt, and the parachute hadn’t opened .

I should have kept my mouth shut. Too soon. Way too fucking soon. What the hell was wrong with me?

Sara hauled herself up on tiptoe and yanked my face down to kiss me. I kissed her back, but I couldn’t help feeling like the world was falling out from underneath me.

Except she pulled back breathless, eyes shiny. “Don’t say I love you like it’s a goodbye, Carter, because I love you too, and if you don’t come back.” Her voice cracked. “I need you, so you have to come back to me. Promise me. ” She demanded.

Did she just say she loved me? She did, right?

She freaking loved me!? I picked her up and spun while the world painted itself in a rainbow of rose-colored hues.

Life had never felt so full. I’d never felt so alive.

Sara was all the way at the very center of my heart, and she could gut me from the inside out if she wanted to.

It was simultaneously the most exhilarating and terrifying thing I’d ever felt.

“It’s not a goodbye, sweetheart. It’s the most exciting hello of my life because I’m just getting started with you.” I promised.

“It better be, because if you die over there, Kensington, I promise I’ll kill you myself.” A tear streamed down her cheek.

Oh God, I was never going to let her get in this car and leave me now.

She loved me too.
