Epilogue

Levi

I’ve been back in Japan for a two months now, I had to finish out my contract.

Now I’m waiting on my discharge paperwork to go through.

It should be done in a week or two. I’m still a little sad about leaving the Marines.

But knowing that I’ll be with Felicity twenty-four seven, that’s worth everything I have to give up.

Tristan’s decided to leave too, he’s going to live in Lake Renegade. Salvatore already has a deputy position waiting for him. He’s really excited to start a new chapter in his life. And so am I.

Felicity and I decided to split our time between Wintervale and Lake Renegade. We’re not sure how we’re going to split our time, but we’ll find a way. We always do.

A month after I left Lake Renegade, I had a video chat with my sisters and the council.

We wanted to know what they planned on doing with Tyler and Marcia.

They asked us if we had a preference as to what they would do with them.

None of us cared what they decided to do, we just wanted to make sure they wouldn’t come after us again.

And something needed to be done about Lorraine.

What they decided on was that they would find out who the cartel was, if there was any.

Enea was thinking that it’s not really a cartel, but a drug ring.

So we’re waiting on that information. Then they’ll figure out what to do.

Because if it is a cartel, they’re going to turn them over to them.

But if it’s a drug ring, they want to take them out and then Tyler and Marcia will go to jail.

Salvatore and his crew will take care of that.

As for Lorraine? Well the word’s been put out that she wanted to sell her own grandchild. I don’t think that’s going to make her any friends where she is. That’s my hope anyway.

It’s been two weeks and I’m finally heading home. My Wintervale family are all meeting in Lake Renegade, the council said they have some information for us and I hope it’s good news.

“I gotta admit, I’m a little nervous to get on the plane.” Tristan laughs as we finish getting our things together.

“I hear you, brother. But it’s gotta be done to start our new lives.”

“Oorah.”

The plane ride was thankfully uneventful. After everything I’ve been through these last few months, I don’t think I could handle anything else. So when the plane touched down, I almost cheered. I looked at Tristan and we started laughing. It was such a relief.

Seeing Felicity’s face after getting through customs made my day.

I love her so damn much. Last week on a video call with her brothers, I asked them for permission to marry her.

All three of them said yes. So my next mission is to buy her a ring.

I can’t afford much, but I need to find one that she’ll love.

My sisters are going with me to buy it tomorrow and I’m trying not to blurt it out to Felicity.

When we get back to Lake Renegade, the first thing we do is have our meeting with the council and the family.

“So we’ve found out what’s going on. Lorraine was the one who started all of this.

When she couldn’t take Davis from Leighton in December, she came up with a new plan.

And that’s when she contacted Tyler and Marcia.

They told her how you three screwed them over and they wanted revenge.

Her goal was to get Davis and sell him. And the bonus was getting more money from our family.

So she found an inmate that had drug connections and made sure Tyler and Marcia got the drugs they craved.

And they agreed to help them get Davis. Kidnapping Felicity was how they thought they would get the extra money.

Because Lorraine knew that she wouldn’t be able to get into our family,” Enea tells everyone.

“And what would Tyler and Marcia get out of all this?” I ask.

“They planned to blame Davis’ kidnapping on you.

Lorraine still had some connections and she planned to use them.

And I know you’re wondering how I know all this.

Well, Lorraine told me. We had phone records and jail recordings that we showed her.

And that alone would add years to her sentence.

So we made a deal with her. She would get another seventeen years added to her ten-year sentence.

She took the deal because if she went back to trial, she’d be facing twenty-five or more. There were a lot of extra charges.”

“Do you think she’ll stop now? And what about Tyler, Marcia and the other two assholes?” Leighton asks.

“I don’t know. I’d like to say yes, but I’ve dealt with people like her and I just don’t know if she’ll give up.

As for Tyler and Marcia, they took a deal for ten years.

The pilot and the attendant got fifteen each.

We will always keep tabs on them, so they’ll never get close to us.

But our Wintervale family, you need to keep close tabs with us at least for the next few years. ”

We decide to have an impromptu barbecue. Everyone’s here and I feel like it’s the perfect time to surprise Felicity. I walk over to her and kiss her.

“I was going to wait till next weekend. But being here tonight, having our whole family here, I just can’t.”

I drop to one knee and suddenly everyone is quiet.

“Oh my god, Levi,” she whispers.

“Felicity, when I met you, I knew you were my future. Through everything we’ve been through, you’ve stood strong and never blamed anyone. I know that whatever life throws at us, we’re going to make it through, together. Will you marry me?”

“Yes. Hell yes!” she screams.

I pick her up and kiss her.

“I love you.” I laugh as I hold her.

“Not as much as I love you.”
