Chapter 7
Chapter Seven
Grace
“Have fun.” I waved at everyone as they left the hospital room, as I lay on Spencer.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?” Wes frowned at me.
I shook my head. “I’m exhausted. Bring me dinner?”
“Of course. Spence, we’ll bring you food, too.” Wes kissed me. “If you need me, call me.”
“I’ll be okay,” I reassured him. They were going on a sunset whale watching tour, followed by dinner at a waterfront restaurant that Brennan wanted to try.
“We’ll be fine.” Spencer wrapped an arm around me.
He looked so much better now and had even asked me to bring his laptop so that he could get caught up on a few things. I knew he’d been answering emails on his phone and making phone calls…
…and that Mrs. K had been scolding him for it.
Supposedly, he’d be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, but we wouldn’t know for sure until morning.
If he was, we’d probably fly back to Rockland.
Everyone needed to get back to school and work–including me.
Though Deb, my supervisor, had been very understanding.
Which was nice. My old bosses wouldn’t have been.
I’d already been discharged, but the doctors were making me wear the small monitor again.
“Be good.” Evan kissed me and winked, making me wonder if Jett had told him the real reason he and Brennan had a sudden urge to take everyone whale watching.
Brennan had closed the blinds on the windows looking out into the hall. Jett smirked as he took something off the back of the doorknob and closed the door.
It turned out that hospitals in this world were so used to packs getting busy that they had little door hangers to alert the staff. However, Jett warned me that they would just walk in if they had any reason–like loud noises, monitors going off, or simply taking too long.
“You’re not feeling well, or did you just not want to go, Darling?” Spencer gave me a concerned look as he toyed with my hair.
“This was a ruse so that we could have some time together,” I admitted. “Everyone is always around.”
“Oh, that was sweet.” Spencer kissed me. “Since it’s just the two of us, is there anything we need to talk about? You know that I don’t blame you in the slightest, don’t you?”
“I know. Thank you for taking a knife for me. You literally put yourself in harm’s way for me.” I sniffed a little because it could have gone so wrong.
He stroked my face. “That’s what mates do for each other.”
“All of this is just so surreal. Um, is it weird to keep the doll?” I’d been wondering about that.
Though I’d finally opened the card. It was just a sweet little belated birthday card.
But inside were a couple of letters that he’d written to me over the years, which made me cry, some pictures of my birth mother, and a couple of them together.
Growing up, no one had ever done anything like that for me. Even if I just left the doll on a shelf somewhere, I wanted to keep her.
“No. If anything, it shows that he was sincere about looking for you,” he replied.
“From the moment that I saw the look on his face when he noticed me in the coffee shop at Briar University, I knew he had been.” There’d never been any doubt of that.
The professor had been back to visit us and had brought Tru and Mercy. Verity had been by as well. Creed was busy with finals and graduation but had been texting me.
Tru kept taking Verity’s phone and sending me messages, which was adorable.
“Hopefully, they’ll discharge me tomorrow. I’m ready to get out of here. I have so much to do,” he told me.
“Me, too. Though, they’ll want you to go easy for a bit,” I replied, gazing up at him.
He smiled. “I’ll go easy on the golf and tennis until I’m healed.”
“Good. What about… other things…” My hand slid under the blankets. He was only wearing a shirt because of the incision.
Sure, Spencer had tended to the mark he’d left on me–and I’d done the same–and we’d cuddled, but it wasn’t the same.
Wes and Evan had made sure I was well cared for, but I wanted Spencer.
Now.
His cock went hard the moment my fingers brushed it as I let all my lust tumble through the bond.
“Mmmm, that sounds delightful,” he murmured, lust, love, and devotion shooting through the bond as his oiled leather scent went sweet with desire.
I wrapped my hand around his cock and squeezed it. “Can you? Or do we need to wait a month or two? I mean, you did just have surgery.”
“I’m an alpha. And yes, I should wait a couple of weeks. But the doctor also knows we’re recently bonded. If you’re willing to be gentle with me, mindful of the incision, and do most of the work, I believe we can do it?” Spencer leaned in and kissed me, long and deep.
“I could do that.” I stripped off my shorts and panties but left my shirt on–just in case someone came in to check on us.
Straddling his hips, but not putting any weight on his upper body, I leaned in and kissed him. “I love you, Spencer Thanukos. Wait, do you have a middle name?”
“Sofoklis. My mother, who is Greek by heritage, but grew up in New York, picked my first name. My father chose my middle name.” He pulled me down and kissed me again.
I tried to carefully balance myself so I wasn’t putting weight on any place that would hurt him. I peppered his stubbly jaw with kisses.
Hmmm, Spencer with a beard? That could be so sexy.
“Does it hurt when I do this?” Once again, my hand wrapped around his cock. His knot was inflating.
“No, that feels nice. You could try to ride me, though we might end up on our sides.” Spencer’s hand tangled in my hair, desire from the bond and his scent making me wet and needy.
“I don’t care, I just need you inside me. I don’t even need your knot if it’ll hurt you, I just need you.” It came out in breathy pants.
The incision was closer to his ribs than his hips, so if I was very careful…
“If it hurts, tell me to stop.” My eyes met his as I lowered myself slowly down his cock. I leaned forward, hands on the pillows so I’d be less likely to put too much weight near his injuries.
“Grace,” he gasped, eyes closing. “Yes. Take me, Darling. I’ll let you know if it hurts. I promise that I’m feeling very good right now.”
Feeling his pleasure, not pain, through the bond, I gently rode him, moving up and down. One of his hands tangled in my hair, the other moved under my shirt, caressing my back.
“Yes, yes, this is exactly what I need,” he breathed.
“Me, too, Dearest,” I told him. “Can I call you that, since you’ve stopped using that for me and mostly call me Darling?” I continued moving my hips, relishing in the sensation of us being united like this once again.
“You can call me anything you like, Baby Girl.” His forehead touched mine. “This feels so good; you feel so good.” The hand caressing my back moved to my clit. “Come for me. I think you can take my knot, but we’ll have to roll to our sides.”
“I’m just fine with that.” Kissing him, pleasure grew inside me. I gasped as an orgasm took me. Sitting down fully on him, my greedy pussy enveloped his swollen knot.
“Oh, yes.” Spencer moved us to our sides–his good side, arms wrapping around us as his hot cum shot inside me.
“Mmmm, so good.” I sent him all my love, love from him coming back.
Content, I made sure we were covered by the blanket, and snuggled into him, us still joined.
“Do you feel better? I know I do.” Spencer kissed my temple.
“That wasn’t selfish, was it?” Biting my lower lip, I looked into his eyes.
“No. You were very gentle. It was perfect and exactly what I needed.” He kissed me again.
“How did your parents meet? Your mom went to college with Evan’s mom, right?” I asked.
“She and Evan’s mom met at university in Rockland, Rock State, where Brennan went.
She went to Rock Springs with Evan’s mom a lot.
Auntie Kim, Evan’s mom, moved back to Rock Springs after graduation.
That’s part of why my mom and I moved to Rock Springs, and not back to New York, after my father passed.
They both studied art. Evan’s mother majored in art history, my mother majored in ceramics.
The two of them went on a study abroad trip to the university in Greece that my father was getting his PhD at,” he said.
“Awww, I love it. Love at first sight?” I asked.
He chuckled. “For him. She made him work for it. My mother was afraid that he was just on the hunt, thinking she would be an easy conquer because she was a beta studying abroad. But his intentions were genuine. They were long distance for a while, then after she graduated she moved to Greece. He researched and taught, eventually teaming up with Dr. Katsopolis, while my mother created pottery. My father made her a studio in our back yard. Eventually, they had me.”
“I wish I had gotten to meet him. He sounds brilliant.” My eyes closed.
“He is. I’m looking forward to you meeting my mother.”
“Yes, we’ll invite her to our party, and anyone else you want.
If you wish for an extravagant party in a far off locale, we can have one, but given everything that’s happened, I’d be just as happy renting out a nice restaurant in Rockland and having a meal with a little dancing and music.
My mother, at least, will make the trip. ” He continued playing with my hair.
“I think your idea of having a party in Rockland is perfect. We can always have another when we see your family on our vacation.”
“That’s an excellent idea. Perhaps we can look and see if we can find any more of my father’s research when we visit my mother,” he added.
I nodded. “Yes, I’m so curious now about how Rosalind and I got to the world I grew up in. It’s all so wild–and coincidental.”
“The universe is like that sometimes. I’ll talk to Mrs. K and see what else she knows.”
“That sounds good. You… you can tell her about me, if you need to. She’s trustworthy, right?” I liked Mrs. K.
“I’d trust her with my life.”
There was a knock on the door. “I’m going to need to check on you in about five minutes,” someone called.
