Chapter 19
Dreu
We arrived at Bleu’s house thirty minutes ahead of time. Jatavia wanting to be on time was admirable. I looked over at her as she applied lip gloss to her juicy lips and smirked. She looked so damn innocent and sexy but got down and dirty in my bedroom.
She was dressed professional as hell. Although I was against her ordering up a whole bunch of shit from Fashion Nova she did so anyway, claiming just because I had a lot of money didn’t mean I had to overspend on clothes that weren’t worth the fee.
I still bought her some nice name brand stuff but let her ball out on a couple of online stores and order the things she liked.
I must admit the plaid gray and white dress pants along with the collared white shirt looked good on my baby.
She had framed Cartier glasses with gold trimmings and because I sweated her hair out for the past two days, she slicked that shit up into a high ponytail.
Her brown skin always glowed with or without makeup.
Today she did a light beat, and I knew it was because she had a personal issue with her acne scars.
Whatever bothered my lady, I planned on fixing that shit for her.
I had already was in search of a specialist to get her acne scars together.
I would do whatever to see my baby confident and positive.
She took the initiative without me to find a therapist, so the rest was history.
Jatavia loved my guidance and that shit made a nigga feel real good.
It meant she trusted me and was secure in knowing that I wouldn’t stir her wrong.
I grew up with my parents and Bleu thinking I was nothing more but a fuck up most of the time. I couldn’t blame them for it because my actions had showed them that I was irresponsible.
“Whew, okay I think I’m ready. Goodness babe, I’m nervous as hell.” Jatavia said breaking right through my thoughts.
“Don’t be nervous, I know for a fact you and Truly will click.” I told her confidently.
I opened my door not wanting Jatavia to start second guessing anything and stepped out just as my phone started to ring. It was no other but Rina.
“Yeah Rina.” I answered.
“Well, that’s a way to answer for the woman responsible of finding you a nice storefront.” She giggled into the phone.
My tension released as the wind blew across my face. A huge smile lifted the corners of my eyes. I walked around to open Jatavia’s door then spoke lowly into the phone.
“I wanted to get her an office.” I turned away from Jatavia.
Women always took forever to step out of the car. Now Jatavia had her purse opened not even paying me any attention as she looked for something.
“You’re thinking small Dreu. Think big, a storefront is a beautiful Christmas gift. I’m already looking into getting a beautiful bold sign to put in front of it.”
Rina sounded so excited and that she was. She couldn’t wait for me to settle down. She claimed that it would make me better for business instead of being out partying and acting crazy. I agreed to that a hundred percent because all I wanted to do was lay up under my Pancakes.
“Okay use the business account, put a move on it ASAP.” I spoke urgently.
“I got you, and then the car—”
I cleared my throat cutting Rina off. Jatavia zipped her purse back up and was now looking up at me.
“Man Rina, if you can get that as well… I’ll give you triple the bonus that I always give you for the holidays.” I smirked.
“Oh, it’s good as done sir. Add a two-week paid vacation somewhere on an island for two and I’ll be sure to have everything delivered including the keys by Christmas Eve.
Expect a couple of electronic signatures within the next couple of hours.
” She quickly hung up not giving me a chance to respond.
Vacation for two? Rina fast ass dating now… I thought and made a mental note to bring it up to her since she loved being all in me and Iceman’s business.
I held my hand out for Jatavia to grab. She got out of the car, I couldn’t help but to pull her close to me.
Inhaling her floral sweet scent, I kissed her on the forehead.
With my arms encircled around her waist, I closed the passenger door then guided her toward the steps.
She squeezed my hand and smiled sweetly.
“This house is really nice.” Jatavia stated softly before the door opened.
I simply nodded my head and offered her a reassuring smirk.
This moment mattered more to me than I let on.
I stood on Bleu’s porch with the love of my life.
My heart beat a little faster than usual.
I’d been on stages in front of thousands, and constantly had cameras in my face with lots of money on the line… but this? This was different.
I never brought a woman around Bleu, only talked about the random hoes I fucked on.
The door swung open before I could knock.
Bleu stood there in a dark apron dusted with flour, his sleeves rolled up, jaw tight, and eyes tired.
Kreu and True were in his arms, one on each side.
Even the babies’ faces were scrunched up and unimpressed.
They had their dad’s facial expressions and it was comical.
Bleu always looked like he was unimpressed with life itself until he took one look at his wife and kids.
“Bro—” I started but was cut off.
Bleu stepped forward and handed me both babies at once like I was saving him.
“Hold these,” he said flatly.
Finally the twins gave me big gummy smiles with drool falling from their mouths. Their little hands slapped at my face as they made baby noises.
“Bleu!” I hissed.
He ignored me completely. His eyes slid past me and the twins like we didn’t exist and landed on Jatavia. He accessed her first, seconds later an arrogant smirk I grew up knowing pulled at his mouth. He wiped his hands on the apron and stepped closer to her.
“Bleu Langston,” he said smoothly, extending his hand.
“Nice to finally meet you, Pancakes.” He smirked.
“It’s Jatavia!” I corrected him pissed off.
Bleu chuckled as Jatavia slipped her hand into his. He brought the back of her hand up to his mouth and quickly pecked it.
Cocky ass nigga!
He released her hand and I watched him watch her.
Bleu always took his time and clocked everything on a person down to their posture.
Today he wouldn’t rush to his judgement of her.
He didn’t easily hand out approval, so I stood a little on edge.
I wanted him to like her, but even if he didn’t, it wouldn’t matter. I had my mind made up.
I watched Bleu and Jatavia so hard that I wasn’t fast enough to stop Kreu’s little heavy chunky hand from slapping me in the face. At the same time, they squirmed hard in my arms letting out irritated sounds. I adjusted my grip and rocked them slightly. Bleu still hadn’t looked back at me.
“My wife is really excited to me you,” he continued still holding Jatavia’s hand a second longer than necessary. “She’s been talking about this consultation all week.” He continued finally releasing her hand.
I could see Jatavia release the breath she was holding. Bleu glanced back at me and smirked.
“That makes me feel better. I’m a little nervous.” She admitted.
“I could feel it through your hands…. I think that’s a good thing. Nervousness could mean you care. Because I care a lot when it comes to pleasing my wife.” Bleu smiled warmly.
“Truly’s been expanding like crazy,” He added casually. “Her herbal tea company took off faster than we expected. We ended up franchising.”
“That’s amazing.” Jatavia’s eyes widened.
“Thanks, she rebranded it too. Renamed it ‘Truly’s Desire’…she said it felt more…intentional.” Pride flashed briefly in Bleu’s eyes before he tucked it back in.
I felt my chest swell watching the respect in Jatavia’s expression. In the moment, I didn’t care that Bleu was taking forever to walk into the house. Their conversation flowed easily, there was nothing forced or fake about it.
“Wow that’s powerful,” she said sincerely.
Bleu nodded his head like he already knew.
“She wants the spaces to match her brand. We are willing to wait for Dreu to supply you with a team that can assist you with her offices and to help her with launching events. That’s where you will come in at.
Since Dreu is in love with you that makes it even better.
I’d rather the money stay in the family than get paid out to someone who doesn’t have a passion for it. ”
He finally glanced at me with a brief unreadable expression before looking back at Jatavia.
“You’re in demand already,” he smiled. “It’s a good place to start with us representing your own brand.” He added confidently.
Jatavia opened her mouth, but nothing came out. Her anxiety and nervousness were probably through the roof right now. Bleu didn’t even give her a chance to warm up. Instead of her conducting the consultation he led it before she sat down with Truly.
One of the twins let out a louder grunt, face red with frustration.
“See? My boys agree with me.” Bleu smirked.
Jatavia laughed softly just as Truly nudged past me.
“I am so sorry girl, I’m Truly and this is my overprotective husband Bleu. How long has he had you out here.” Truly pinched Bleu’s arms.
She pulled Jatavia in for a hug then held on to either side of her arms.
“It’s okay, he actually was telling me about ‘Truly’s Desire’ and how proud he is of you. I’m excited and honored to work closely with you.” Jatavia’s voice was calmer talking to Truly.
It’s like they took to each other immediately. They embraced after Jatavia told Truly her name. We finally entered the house. I moved as fast as my long legs could take me to sit the heavy ass twins down on their play rug then collapsed down on the couch.
“Man, you owe me two thousand dollars, nigga. My damn shirt is ruined, and you know I don’t hold both babies at once. I don’t see how you do it.” I complained immediately.
