Chapter 19 #2

Kreu had pulled at one of my dreads before I placed him on his tummy. They both squirmed on the floor as Bleu laughed and took a seat across from me.

“Them boys was driving me crazy. I’m trying to bake some new cookies before my Princess comes home and can’t catch a break.” He sighed and ran his hand down his waves.

“I told you I had to get ready before they came. You the one spoiling them, you could have put them in their chairs.” Truly cut into Bleu’s complaining.

He turned quickly like he been caught saying something he wasn’t supposed to say. I chuckled; I would never get used of Truly putting Bleu’s ass in his rightful place.

“Gone Truly,” Bleu waved her off. “Love to act like you don’t play a big part in spoiling these boys.” He nodded his head their way.

“They are too cute by the way, may I?” Jatavia looked between Bleu and Truly.

“Girl yes,” Truly smiled warmly then pointed at True. “The one with the binky in his mouth is True, and that’s Kreu.”

“Careful with Kreu, he real violent with it.” I warned.

Jatavia excitedly made her way to Kreu the one I just warned her ass about.

Truly scooped True in her arms and placed him right beside Bleu.

I watched Jatavia in awe. She baby talked to Kreu and nuzzled his little neck.

He cooed right back to her and even grabbed her face and kissed the tip of her nose.

“Ohhh Dreu, do you babysit them?” She asked never looking at me.

Bleu and Truly looked at me at the same time with raised brows.

“Dreu only watches them when he comes over to eat while I make plates.” Truly snitched proudly.

“We got to change that.” Jatavia frowned, finally looking over at me.

“Yeah, we could use extra help since both of our parents on bullshit.” Bleu added.

My chest tightened at the mention of our parents.

It would be nice to have them actually act like grandparents.

It didn’t matter if Bleu and Truly had Nanny’s and extra outside help.

I never could imagine not having my mom and pops be there for us when we finally had kids. Now it was Bleu’s reality.

“I’ll do better,” I promised, looking Bleu in the eyes. “I promise, I got Rina moving stuff around. January, I plan on finishing my entire album that’ll be released in the summertime. I’m not going to tour until 2027. I want my nephews and niece to see more of me.” I said honestly.

“Aww Dreu, we not trying to make you feel bad, we know you love the kids.” Truly gave me a comforting smile.

Bleu picked up Kreu’s bottle and tossed it to me. He took the top off of True’s bottle and popped it in his mouth.

“Anyways, Jatavia give Dreu the baby so we can head to my office and start my consultation. I got some fresh iced tea waiting for you, plus all of the blueprints for the different spaces that I already know you will elevate.” Truly clapped her hands excitedly.

She instantly lightened the mood and took my mind off the status of our parents.

“As long as I can come back and hold these adorable babies.” Jatavia cheesed and Kreu’s face before softly pinching his chubby cheek.

She slowly brought him over to me and sat him on my lap.

“Girl, Bleu helped me with dinner and dessert. We always cook too much anyway. We were hoping y’all stayed and ate with us.” Truly wasted no time grabbing Jatavia’s hand and leading her away.

“You don’t waste no time.” Bleu shook his head at Truly.

“Absolutely not,” Truly shot back. “When I see alignment, I move.” She winked over at me before guiding Jatavia away.

When they made it down the long hallway, I heard them laugh about something loudly. I looked down at Kreu then over at True. Both babies looked like they were plotting something against Bleu and I.

“She’s solid, I like her.” He said with no emotion added to his voice.

“It didn’t matter if you didn’t like her.” I shot back a little too quickly.

“She’s grounded,” he continued ignoring what I said. “She’s also smart, observant…not super thirsty. She don’t talk too much, but when she does…its thoughtful and means something.” He finished.

“That’s my Pancakes.” I stated proudly grinning wide.

“Yeah, so don’t be stupid and fuck it up.” He said plainly.

The intensity of his stare down meant that he was serious and worried at the same time.

“If you talking about women, I ain’t worried about no other hoes. I done had them all and they don’t give me the kind of substance Jatavia gives me. I ain’t worried about them either.”

“I’m serious, Dreu. You in the type of industry that makes it hard—”

“I know, Bleu. You think I can’t do right by her?” I asked, feeling myself get offended.

Kreu looked up at me as he continued to drink from his bottle. He frowned at me like he agreed with what I said.

“Nah, I see more of your maturity now. I just don’t want you to hurt her because you’ll end up hurting yourself.

Women like her don’t come around twice…Well in your case you got fortunate for her to want to double back so it was meant to be, but,” he held a finger up.

“They don’t stay where they gotta teach a grown man how to show the fuck up.

So, if you fuck up this time, I’m here to tell you now, there won’t be another time with her. ”

What he said landed heavy, but it was fair.

“I know.” I said quietly.

He adjusted True’s bottle then wiped a bit of milk from his chin.

“I don’t want to repeat mistakes, not with her. You know how fucked up I was behind losing her.” I admitted.

“Good because love is about intensity and consistency. When you really love somebody, you avoid doing things that will hurt them. Now I’m done with my sermon. I like her and Truly took to her quick. She always say she can read people first glance and I believe her.” Bleu finally smiled.

I chuckled not because of what he said but I noticed that the twins’ greedy asses finished their bottles at the same time.

“They greedy as hell.” I chuckled.

“I like to burp them at the same time too.” Bleu picked True up and placed him on his shoulder.

“That’s why you be overwhelmed! How the hell do you even burp them at the same time? You can’t do everything Bleu.” I shook my head as I lifted Kreu to my shoulder.

“Oh shit!” I moved my face away as Kreu tried to bite down on my cheek.

He meant business too because one of his tiny hands grabbed the bottom of my beard hair while the other hand tightened on one of my dread locs. Bleu laughed like the shit was funny.

“You better not drop my baby.” He chuckled.

“It’s time to start giving pop pops to his little ass.” I frowned.

“Don’t let Truly hear you say that.” He warned.

Bleu and I played with the twins until they took a nap.

Two hours had gone by, and the women still hadn’t appeared.

We end up smoking a blunt and talking until Truly finally got us and told us to join her and Jatavia for dinner.

I sat right next to Jatavia during dinner.

I said a silent prayer thanking God for giving putting me in position to just feel the fullness and love that I was experiencing.

I was blessed; there was no other word to describe it.

The feeling settled heavy in my chest. I was blessed to get a second chance with a woman I experienced my first real love with.

I thought about her good qualities, the ones that didn’t scream for attention.

The way she listened instead of making it all about herself although in my mind it was all about her.

I would happily put myself second just to make sure she remained happy with me but that was something Jatavia wouldn’t allow.

She noticed the small things about me, and she moved with good intention. She walked into my home and softened it with just her energy and light with shrinking in the midst of it. She didn’t love me for what I could buy or what my fans saw me as.

Jatavia loved me when I was still figuring trying to figure out myself.

She saw potential in me before I became Big D.

She was the kind of love that changed a man for the better.

I didn’t feel like I had to dominate her because she was the type of woman that if you proved to be the man she expected you to be she’d easily submit.

As long as I wasn’t guiding her to destruction, she willingly allowed me to lead.

In return, I was going to make sure she had a soft life, living her dreams, stacking her money to do whatever she wanted to with.

I felt aligned and inspired to be the man that I always wanted to be.

Life itself didn’t owe me a second chance but somehow, here it was.

Wrapped in grace and I wouldn’t dare fuck it up from pride or old dumb ass habits.

It probably was all happening all too soon for Jatavia but with time I would prove to her that she didn’t make a mistake by choosing me, again.
