Chapter Thirteen

Jasper

“Very interesting indeed.” Seems mundane to say, but it’s true. Walking away from the hall that has all of the holding cells, I make my way into a side room, where my brothers are sitting, going over everything that happened today.

“Our little bird definitely has strong teeth,” I tell them as I walk into the room. Letting my body flop onto the couch next to Marcus.

“Teeth?” Owen asks, frowning as he turns from his conversation with Elijah to look at me. Holding up my arm to show the bite mark she gave me, sends a thrill through me, making me smile. Not only did she thoroughly shock me, she seriously turned me on. Licking my lips, I remember the taste of her blood.

“She actually bit you…” Elijah sits back in shock, while looking at the still bleeding bite mark on me. My smile grows as and it’s obvious that my enthusiasm is being felt by my brothers.

“She did, but to be fair, I did bite her first…” I trail off, leaning back further into the couch. “After she released me, she said ‘now we are even’ . She’s definitely a spitfire!” I laugh, thoroughly amused by the girl our grandfather picked. I thought she was a little different than the other girls, but she is proving to be something else.

“Someone should go clean and wrap the bite on her shoulder. She seems pretty disgruntled.” As I’m telling them this, they’re looking at me while shaking their heads. They’re used to my antics by now.

“Who wants alone time with her next?” I ask, knowing that each of us wants to talk to her and gauge her personally. We don’t do it this way with the other girls. We’re doing this a little more personally than normal.

“I know Marcus hasn’t had any time to really talk to her. Do you want to go?” I can see Marcus shaking his head, making me frown a bit.

“Why not?” I thought he’d like a chance to talk to her more. I know we’re all curious, so I don’t see why he doesn't want one-on-one time with her.

“I’m not good at treating wounds for one.” Marcus rolls his eyes at me. I pause at this, knowing he definitely has a point. Elijah and Owen are more capable of doing that. Marcus and I are more likely to make something worse than fix it.

“Isn’t that a pity.” I snort looking at the other two. I know both of them will want to see her, but I have a feeling Elijah will be the one going. He’s the oldest, and he probably wants to see how she is after the death and the little session I just had with her.

“Victoria’s definitely in a bit of shock, but by the time I left she was definitely back to normal with a bite to her words.” She bounces back from trauma pretty quickly. Which is definitely something one needs with our family. I’d love to get to a point where she gets rid of her morals against murder.

“So, she didn’t have a breakdown or anything?” Elijah asks, I can see the glint of satisfaction in his eyes. It was his idea to kill the girl in front of her. It’s surprising because he’s not been one to use such a brutal hand on the first test. Maybe he’s becoming impatient like the rest of us.

“As I said, she was in a bit of shock. She mostly zoned out. Didn’t scream or fight with me, though once she snapped out of it, she did have a bit of an attitude.” I shrug at this. It’s expected for her to fight back. It always happens. If she didn’t then that would make things less fun.

“Hmm good,” rolling my eyes at his words, I know it’s more than good.

“Is it one or both of you going to see her?” Raising an eyebrow at two of my brothers. I’d like to be a fly on the wall if both of them go. She’s already wound up, this could make her lash out.

“Owen can go. I need to help with the next set up.” I can hear the clear disappointment in Elijah’s voice though.

“Your loss.” I hum out, giving him one last glance as he rolls his eyes at me. Today is definitely an interesting day. This time it seemed like we may have found the one. Grandfather did pick right it seems.

“Are we doing the normal tests or are we going to switch things around?” Marcus does have a point, Elijah’s already doing things he doesn’t normally do. The option of changing things around is a possibility.

For now, things are going the same. We may adjust things for Victoria as we go though.” Elijah tells us and I am wondering what the adjustments could be, if we needed to, it’s sometimes hard to get into Elijah’s head.

“Sounds like we’ll be on our toes then,” I mutter while shifting into a better position. I hear the others laugh at my words, but they were true.

“For now, we’ll get things set up. Owen can go check on Victoria and assess her wounds” Elijah glances at me begrudgingly before he shakes his head at the word ‘wounds.’ I kept silent as I watch Owen and Elijah leave, making a small smirk come to my face. I do wonder how our bird will deal with the second test. It’s definitely going to be something to watch.
