29. Chapter 29
Chapter twenty-nine
Alex
Alex and Galen turned toward the elevator, anxiously awaiting Hoko’s arrival to start the remote viewing search for Danyal.
Hoko stepped out of the elevator, holding what appeared to be a sizeable rolled-up map. He unrolled the map on the kitchen island and said the map showed states within nine hours of Boston. Since they had the Atlantic Ocean to the east, he added, it helped limit their search to the mid-Atlantic region of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and the northern parts of Vermont and Maine.
“Still heaps of ground to cover,” said Galen.
“It is,” said Hoko, “but I’m not worried about Alex’s range since he connected with David in California.”
“But I could only connect with David through the quantum entanglement of our emotional connection,” said Alex.
“Correct,” said Hoko. “I think the solution to our problem lies with ayahuasca.”
Galen looked confused and said, “Gonna get him high? Substances don’t work on him.”
Hoko said ayahuasca worked differently because it was a psychedelic. He explained that the senses became enhanced, sharpened, or heightened with ayahuasca. Hoko said he’d facilitated vision quests for decades with ayahuasca, with Ditta even participating in some of his research. It affected her for thirty minutes, so he was hoping it would have the same effect on Alex.
“I trust you, Hoko. I’ll do it if there’s a chance it will help find Danyal. How do we do this?”
Hoko pulled a small thermos from his backpack and said he’d brought everything they needed. He indicated he’d warm the tea while Alex and Galen cleared the living room floor, where they could get comfortable to perform the ritual. Galen and Alex moved the furniture around while Hoko warmed the tea on the stove.
Hoko said he’d start with a cleansing prayer for the ceremony, and they’d drink the tea.
“What’s mah role?” asked Galen.
Hoko said, “Given your recent brain injury, Galen, I don’t think it would be safe for you to ingest ayahuasca.”
“Supposed to just sit here and watch?” said Galen.
“Yes, Alex and I need you to be our anchor. If something goes wrong, I need you to pull us back into the moment.”
Hoko instructed it would work best if they sat cross-legged on pillows, and asked Alex to join hands with him. Alex nodded and complied. Hoko asked if Alex was ready, before starting the ritual by singing a traditional song called “Icaros.” He proceeded to shake leaf rattles and use tobacco smoke to anoint them, and protect the space for the ritual. Finally, Alex and Hoko drank the tea.
Alex felt lightheaded, as if he was floating. Otherwise, he didn’t feel any effect.
“I don’t feel anything.” Then he opened his eyes and looked down to see his body below him as he hovered over the scene. What the fuck?
“It’s OK, Alex,” said Hoko, as his spirit floated out of his body to meet Alex’s.
“What’s happening, Hoko?”
“My best guess, Alex, is that between the ayahuasca and your abilities, we’re having an out-of-body experience. Amazing, I’ve never encountered this vivid of an experience in the decades I’ve worked with ayahuasca.”
“So, what do we do now?”
Hoko said he wanted Alex to focus on the electromagnetic energy and look for the dark areas in the energy field in the building. Hoko asked how many energetic voids Alex felt in the PGC building. Alex replied forty-two. Hoko asked him to focus on one of those voids and let the energy take them there. Alex closed his eyes and focused on an energy void on the tenth floor, and they were immediately transported to Bruno’s lab, where Bruno stood tearfully looking at the pictures on his wall.
“OK, Alex. Now take us outside of the building.”
With the simple thought, Alex and Hoko instantly floated high above the city among the clouds. Hoko directed Alex to focus on any void in the energetic field outside PGC, and specifically to look for clusters in the EMF field since the enemy would likely be grouped together. Alex closed his eyes and sent out a wave of energy like a ripple in a pond. He kept his eyes closed and focused on his breathing until the energy wave bounced back to him.
“Southwest,” Alex replied, “there are fifteen voids in the energetic field grouped together.”
“Concentrate, Alex, and take us to the clustered voids.”
Alex opened his eyes to see the swirling, energetic fields around him and Hoko as they moved instantaneously. Alex looked around for signs of where they had arrived. Alex and Hoko descended to the ground, until they were standing in front of the York County Prison in Pennsylvania, which looked abandoned. He could sense that there were fifteen voids in the energy field on the first floor. As their spirits passed through the door of the building, Alex could see recent signs of activity in the building due to the crates and boxes stacked in the hallways.
“How do we find Danyal? Do we look in every room? When will the ayahuasca wear off?” asked Alex.
Hoko suggested that Alex focus on an item with a strong connection between him and Danyal, given them being in closer proximity.
“Danyal and I wear matching necklaces. He never takes it off.”
“Focus on his necklace and take us there, Alex.”
Alex opened his eyes to see Danyal sleeping on a dirty mattress on the floor of a locked cell. Alex’s spirit moved quickly towards Danyal. He attempted to touch Danyal’s face, but there was no response.
“I can’t reach him, Hoko. He’s right here in front of me, and I can’t reach him,” said Alex in desperation.
“Focus, Alex; if he’s asleep, you may be able to reach him subconsciously.”
Alex knelt by Danyal’s body. I love you, Danyal. We’re coming to save you.
As Alex sent his thoughts, Danyal rolled over and softly said, “Alex.”
“He heard me, Hoko!”
“I think he did, Alex. We need to go. I’ve no idea how time works in this state…”
