Chapter Thirty-Seven

Maya

For some reason we have to go from Manchester airport, which is bloody miles away.

My bum is numb from being sat in the car so long.

The roads were extra quiet though with how early we left, which is a bonus.

Tommy has been extremely vague about the travel side of everything, which is annoying for someone like me.

I’m a planner not a go with the flow type of girl.

I have flown from here before so I kind of get the gist of the area, but the way he’s taking us isn’t the normal way I would have gone.

There are three terminals here after all though so the chances are it’s one of the ones I haven’t been to before.

He won’t even tell me the airline so I could look up the details myself, he just kept smirking at me in that sexy yet cheeky way that he does.

The car finally starts to slow down, but we are definitely not at the car park, or even a terminal for that matter, just a small glass building on its own by the runway. Strange.

As we pull up, a man walks out to greet us. “Good morning, Mr Jackson, Miss Houghton. I’ll take your keys for you, if you just head inside the staff will check your details and direct you to the plane.”

“Thank you,” we both reply as we unload the car. The man tips his head, takes the keys and heads to the car.

“What the fuck is going on Tommy?” I ask bewildered. I’m not used to this kind of thing, I feel like a bloody queen.

“Stop stressing or you’ll ruin the surprise!” He demands, but I see the twinkle in his eye at his excitement. We head inside as the security team pull up and go through the same process that we just did.

It only takes us a few minutes before we’re on the tarmac, walking over to what I can only guess to be a miniature plane. “You have got to be kidding me. We’re getting on that?” I ask absolutely mortified.

He laughs. “Yes Maya, we are getting on that,” His eyes crease with amusement.

I am terrified of flying. I wasn’t going to say anything because its never stopped me from getting on a plane before but this tin can? It’s bloody tiny! As I walk up the steps to board the plane, I feel like I’m on the green mile, walking towards death.

“Stop being dramatic, I promise you will be pleasantly surprised,” Tommy winks at me. Fucking winks. Like that is going to calm me down at all.

I barely pass through the door before voice’s all around me shout “Surprise!” I’m stood as still as a statue in shock. What the hell? Everyone is here, Fallon, Max, Lucy, Jenson, Blair and Gracie.

“What is going on?” I ask, struggling to string a full sentence together.

“We’re going on holiday!” Fallon bounces up and down excitedly her face beaming as she claps her hands and realisation finally sets in; we’re all going on holiday together.

I run up to the girls giddily, jumping up and down with them, this is going to be amazing. I can’t believe it, did Tommy really only plan this yesterday?

Also, this plane is ridiculous. Now that the shock is wearing off from seeing my friends, I can finally take it all in.

It’s beautiful, thick beige carpets that go with the huge recliner leather chairs, tables are set in the middle of the facing chairs, almost like a posh train.

I have never seen anything like it before.

I turn to Tommy, his eyes already on me. “Did you plan all of this?” I ask.

He nods, “Yes. I did it all whilst you were in bed yesterday morning. I hope that you don’t mind that it’s not just us” he smiles.

“Of course not, I am over the moon! Thank you so much for this,” I state as I lean up on my tiptoes to kiss him.

“Eww, stop with the PDA or I’m getting off this plane,” Blair says flatly.

“Don’t be a bitch, they’re cute,” Gracie coos.

The flight was short and sweet, taking just over two hours to land in Menorca but it was an experience I will never forget, the flight attendant served us champagne and snacks the entire time we were airborne.

I felt like a real life princess, first the beauty and the beast house, now private jets.

I don’t even recognise myself, but I love it.

The airport is so busy when we go through passport control that Jenson’s men are being extra vigilant but for some reason I already feel at ease, like they are worrying for nothing. As soon as I stepped off that plane and the heat hit my skin, my worries all blew away.

We make it out of the airport with our luggage in no time and head to his home, which he has also been very quiet about so, I have no idea what to expect.

“We’re almost there” he tells me, excitement radiating off him. “This is the village we’re staying in.”

It’s beautiful and untouched, not like most places you visit in Spain.

As crazy as it sounds, it’s still Spanish here and not overrun by ex-pats.

The whitewash villas, apartments and tapas bars all look rustic, and really busy.

It’s high season here at the minute, so everyone has come over for the summer.

The smell of food as we drive past the rows of restaurants and bars has my stomach growling.

God, I can’t bloody wait, I mentally take note of all the foods I’ll be ordering tonight.

We pull up to a property surrounded by white walls and rural bricks, making it look the part but still clean and new. As the gates swing open wide, we enter into what can only be described as paradise, it steals my breathe just to look at it.

“This is where we’re going to be staying?” I ask him, shock clearly taking over my face as he laughs.

“Yes, this is my home away from home, I love it here.”

“God, I can see why. How do you ever leave?”

“Because, I could never face being too far from you.” He leans over and kisses my temple, making love bubble deep down in my stomach and taking over the hunger pains, now I’m just hungry for Tommy.

The villa is surrounded by the most beautiful trees, covered in bright fuchsia flowers. The contrast is striking, making it all the more picturesque.

Stepping out of the car, I take Tommy’s hand. “Come on, you need to show me around before everyone else gets here. I want the best room,” I laugh as we run into the house.

“Well, me and Max kind of have our own rooms, so I hope you like it. Mines the biggest of course,” he winks. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall as they fought over the bedrooms. Knowing Max, he would have had a fit getting second choice.

“Show me,” I whisper. The thought of getting him alone taking over my mind, and my lower regions too.

From the look on his face, I think he has the same idea but before we even step a foot closer to the room we hear the front door open.

“Honey! We’re home!” Max bellows through the house.

Urgh, typical.

I imagine this is what our break way will be like most of the time. I’m not that bothered, I love the fact they’re all here with me, maybe we can finally party without getting stalked and attacked for a change.

More voices enter the space soon after Max as everyone arrives safely. In my rush to get to the bedroom I never had chance to have a proper look around.

Outside was a pretty kind of beautiful, but inside is the complete opposite, it’s modern and masculine. Very minimalistic but extremely clean, just like Tommy’s taste. I wonder if he had this place built, it would make sense with his job.

It’s all white and grey with small splashes of colour throughout, even the kitchen is mainly white, with the odd colourful intricate tile on the wall.

I love it, but it definitely needs more life in here.

The walls are mainly glass on one side of the house, showcasing all the beautiful views of the cliffs and sea.

I feel as though I have stepped inside a fairytale, I just want to get up and explore, now.

“This place is fucking ridiculous. Why haven’t we been out here sooner?” Blair asks, awe on her usual passive face.

“Blair, isn’t it amazing, maybe we should set up shop here. I could definitely imagine waking up here every morning,” Gracie says as she spins around taking it all in. “Tommy? Is there a pool?” She asks.

“Yes. I’ll show you to your rooms then we can go for a walk around, so you know where everything is,” He smiles. I love how he loves my friends. Just like they’re his own. Which they are really, he has known them almost as long as he has known me.

“Yay! Come on, let’s go, I want to get out into that glorious sunshine!” Gracie exclaims excitedly.

“Come on,” Tommy whispers to me. “I’ll show you to our room.” Excitement bubbles up in me at the thought. He told me to be patient, and that he thinks I’ll love it.

I follow along after him down a corridor and we come to a stop at the last door.

He glances back at me with a cheeky smile before opening it wide.

The first thing I notice about the room is how light it is.

The sun shining directly into it from a floor to ceiling glass sliding door, that opens up onto our own private balcony overlooking the sea. It’s magical.

The room is as I guessed, all white with beautiful cotton sheets and throws on the bed.

Considering how hot it is outside, I’m so grateful for the air conditioning in here.

I’d hate to think how hot it would be without it, especially with all of the windows in here.

I turn on the spot, gazing at everything around me.

I have never seen hotels this nice before, he must have a cleaner.

“That’s it, we’re never leaving,” I protest, utterly in love.

“The room or the country?” He jokes.

“Both. Honestly Tommy, this place is something else. Did you design it yourself?”

“I did. With a lot of help of course. I did help to actually build it too, whenever I had free time I would fly out and help.” He smiles fondly at the memory.

“That makes it all the more special.” Knowing he was the one who poured his heart into it, the same heart that he has given to me.
