Chapter Wizards
Wizards
Istill haven’t figured out exactly what Fantasy category Mona scheduled the date for, but I know it’ll be nothing short of ridiculous.
The guy’s name is Harry P.
All night, I couldn’t stop thinking that he’s a Harry Potter fanatic. That he thinks he’s a real wizard.
I call Mona for the seventh time, but she doesn’t answer me. She’s been avoiding me for the past three days. Even at work, she won’t stay still long enough for me to talk to her.
I still don’t know who her mystery hookup is, but it’s making me nervous. There are very few reasons she’d stop answering my calls or returning my texts, and it’s because she believes the person she’s with is someone I wouldn’t approve of.
And I’m not being dramatic. Mona never ignores my calls. She’s answered during sex before. Hell, she answered my call while standing at the altar as a bridesmaid.
Granted, it was her cousin’s fourth wedding in three years. The ink on the divorce decree was barely dry before she marched down the aisle again, and Mona was in the wedding party because her mom made her. But she still answered.
I step into a small café I didn’t know existed until today, and there he is. Brown hair, round black glasses, and a wand resting on the extra chair at his table. He beams at me like we’ve been pen pals for years.
At least he’s friendly.
“Hi, you must be Holly. I’m Harry. Harry Potter.”
Oh. My. God.
Blinking, I shake my head. “This isn’t going to work.”
“Was the wand too much?”
“What’s your real name?”
“Harry. Harry—”
“Stop.”
His shoulders slump. “Nicholas,” he mutters.
“Get off this app and be yourself, Nicholas.”
“But no one likes me as myself.”
“How many people have liked you as a fake wizard?”
He smirks. “I’ve slept with four different girls.”
“What?”
“Some walk out like you’re about to, but you’d be surprised at how many women are obsessed with Hogwarts. Guess you’re not a fan?”
Turning, I head for the door. I’m officially done. For real this time.
This may be a great app in theory, but in practice it’s a disaster. And the three men I’ve considered to be actually boyfriend material? Not a single one came from this damn thing.
It’s over.
