22. Mary

Chapter 22

Mary

My butterfly necklace clinks against the cold desk while my skirt is hiked up to my waist. Connor drives into me from behind, his powerful hands gripping my hips.

I’m so close. Again.

Letting him have his way with me here at the office is so wrong but also way more thrilling. I’ve never done anything this reckless before.

Okay, that’s a lie. We did it every day since our date.

“What if someone hears us?” I moan, my protest only half-hearted.

He quickens his already rapid pace. “Seems like you’re still able to think.”

My breath catches as he reaches around and begins stroking me in time with his deep thrusts. The pressure builds within me, my climax imminent.

“Let me feel you come undone around me, Blue. ”

His words undo me, and I climax hard, crying out in ecstasy. He pauses mid-thrust, his length still buried within as his palm glides over my ass.

A squeal escapes me when his hand cracks down on it. I clamp my hands over my mouth, but the sound has already slipped out. Connor chuckles, the vibrations resonating through his chest and into my back.

“Too late to worry about that, Blue.” His hands smooth along the stinging sensation. “I’m pretty sure the whole office heard you scream my name.”

“Connor,” I whisper-yell.

“Yes, just louder.”

“We need to be—” Before I can get another word out, he rams in deep, making me whimper instead.

“God, I love this view.” Thrust. “Looking forward to it every day.”

“Every day?”

“Oh, yes.” His fingers slip between my thighs to tease my swollen flesh. I squirm, heat flooding my cheeks. “I can feel you clenching around me like your pussy can’t get enough of my cock.”

My face burns hotter. “Connor.”

He chuckles, the sound dark and sinful. “Deny it all you want, Blue. You’re addicted to this, to me.” He punctuates his words with a sharp thrust, drawing another gasp from my lips.

I brace myself against the desk, struggling to get up. “We have to get back to work.” My protest comes out breathless and weak.

“In a minute.” His lips brush the shell of my ear. “I’m not done with you yet.”

Connor angles his hips to hit that sweet spot that makes me see stars. A loud moan falls past my lips, and I cover my mouth to keep quiet, or we’re bound to get caught.

“Relax, Blue.”He peppers kisses along my shoulders, his hands soothing up and down my sides. “You worry too much.”

My insides clench around him as he chases his own pleasure.

“Fuck,” he groans, thrusting harder and deeper one last time before spilling his cum deep inside me, taking me right with him.

With a final lazy thrust, he pulls out, his release dripping down my inner thigh. Gently, he turns me around to face him, his eyes roving hungrily over my disheveled state.

“You’re so beautiful like this. I could stare at you all day.”

His words make me blush even more than our activities just did. No one’s ever looked at me the way Connor does, like I’m the most captivating thing in the world. I want to savor this feeling, this connection we have.

He places featherlight kisses along my jaw.

I sigh, running my hands through his hair. “I don’t want this to end.”

It’s hard to define what this is between us. A fun fling? Casual sex? I mean, we did just screw in an office closet like a couple of horny teenagers. What is this, exactly?

Connor cups my cheek, his thumb brushing over my swollen lips. “It won’t end, Blue. I’m not going anywhere.” There is not a hint of deception in his eyes, only naked hunger. For me.

A relationship? I mean, we go on dates, cuddle in bed, and we have incredible sex. He’s attentive and passionate, and I’m falling for him hard and fast. With him, I feel free to just be myself.

He leans in until our foreheads touch. “You’re mine now. And I don’t let go of what’s mine so easily.”

“Is that so?”

The corner of his mouth quirks up. “I thought that was clear when I had you bent over this desk, screaming for me.”

Heat rushes to my cheeks from the pure sin in his gaze. “Maybe I need a reminder.”

Connor’s eyes blaze, and then his mouth is crashing against mine in a kiss. I whimper, tangling my fingers in his hair to hold him close as our tongues duel. He nips at my lower lip, sending sparks ricocheting through my nerve endings.

“Insatiable,” he growls against my lips. “I could fuck you all night, and you’d still beg for more, wouldn’t you?”

A thrill zings through me at his filthy words. “Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is?”

“Tonight, Blue.” He grins wickedly. “Don’t move.” He kneels down, cleaning me up with a tissue.

“Thanks.”

“My pleasure.” He buckles his belt while I put myself back together.

Slip, skirt, blouse .

When I’m decent again, I walk over to him, winding my arms around his neck. He doesn’t hesitate to claim my lips again.

I melt into it, savoring the taste of him, the warmth of his embrace. But I know we’ve already pushed our luck, and if we’re not careful, we’ll get caught.

“See you later.” I punctuate my words with a playful slap to my backside as I head for the door.

“Run before I drag you back in here and fuck that attitude right out of you.”

“You’ll have to catch me first.”

Laughter follows me out the door, rich and warm.

I make it ten steps down the hall before I’m accosted by Jill, a coworker from the events team. “Mary! There you are. We’re all going out for drinks after work to celebrate the success of our event. You in?”

“Sure, that sounds like fun.”

“Great!” Jill grins. “Drinks are on me since you helped so much with the Spring Gala.”

“Would it be alright if I invite someone else? From IT?”

Jill’s grin widens. “You mean the brooding hottie consultant? Be my guest!”

“His name is Connor.” Off-limits Jill.

Ridiculous, I know, since I have no claim over him. After all, it isn’t like Connor and I are together together. We’re just two coworkers burning off tension.

Repeatedly .

In supply closets, empty conference rooms, the server room… Long run. But how is keeping it a secret in the long run?

“Well, maybe I’ll get lucky, and Connor will finally notice me.” She winks at me. “Or did you already get your shot?”

“No, we’re just friends. Colleagues.” The last thing I need is for our illicit affair to become office gossip.

Jill pouts but lets it go. “Alright, well, drinks are at six. Meet you in the lobby?”

“See you then.”

After Jill leaves, I message Connor to join us.

Mary: Meet me downstairs after work. We’re going to have drinks with the team * beer emoji *

No response.

Maybe he’s in a meeting?

By the time I’m packing up to leave, there’s still no word from him. What is he playing at?

With an exasperated sigh, I storm down the hallway toward the IT department. The fluorescent lights flicker on as I enter the server room, his preferred hiding spot, and the sound of my footsteps reverberates against the bare walls. The only sign of life is the faint humming noise coming from the rackets.

“Connor?”

No answer.

Did he already leave?

Shaking my head at myself, I send him another message.

Mary: Where are you?

Still nothing .

Fine. I’ll go without him, and I’ll have as many energy drinks as I want.

Without wasting time, I join the others downstairs, and we head straight to the bar.

It’s crowded and lively, filled with the chatter of other party people and the clink of glasses. Jill leads us to a booth in the back, and we all slide in.

“First round’s on me!” She signals for a waiter. “What’ll you guys have?”

We place our drink orders, and the waiter hurries off. I try to join the conversation and appear engaged, but a certain brooding hottie consultant doesn’t bother writing back. Where did he go? Did something happen?

The waiter returns with our drinks, and Jill raises her glass. “To Mary, for all her help with the Gala.”

“Here, here!” The others chime in, clinking glasses with me.

I smile, touched by the sentiment even if my heart isn’t fully in the celebration.

We chat and laugh, the alcohol loosening inhibitions and lightening the mood. The margaritas keep flowing, colors and sounds blurring together in a haze of intoxication. My cheeks ache from all the smiling.

When another round of drinks arrives, Jill nudges me with her elbow. “So, did you ask your brooding IT guy to join us?”

I stare into my glass. “No, he had other plans. ”

“Too bad.” She shrugs, gaze already wandering to scan the bar. “Bet he’d be more fun outside of work if you could get him to unwind.”

If only she knew. I take a long sip of my drink, the alcohol burning down my throat.

“So what’s the deal with tall, dark, and handsome in IT?” Sara asks.

The others giggle, their cheeks flushed from the drinks. “I heard Sophie in accounting hooked up with him last week.”

I think I’m gonna be sick. “Really?”

“Mmhmm… said he was an animal in bed.” She fans herself dramatically. “Probably with him right now.”

Raucous laughter erupts around the table. Hidden from view, my hands curl into fists. Don’t react. Sara loves gossip. I can’t take her seriously.

Still… is that why?

My heartbeat quickens, and I ex my drink. The alcohol burns going down.

“Well, I wouldn’t kick him out of bed either,” Jill says.

More laughter.

I force a tight smile, staring down at the table. Their voices blur together.

“…looks like he could use some unwinding if you know what I mean.”

“Sophie said he likes choking.”

Laughter, catcalls .

Each word stabs at me like a knife. I dig my nails into my palm. Not here. Not now.

The waiter arrives with another round of drinks. I grab mine hastily, taking a big gulp.

“Mary, what do you think?” Jill nudges my shoulder. “You know Connor better than any of us.”

All eyes turn to me, eager and curious.
